Bio

This is my second profile on here, and I have been Play-By-Post RPing for about nine years now. I do my best to see every RP to the end or at least let my character come to his/her own dramatic conclusion when I feel like signing off. Just like novel writing in real life, I tend to find myself on long hiatuses. Since writing is a great way to work out your brain, I try stay engaged as much as possible.

My favorite genres include futuristic worlds, mysteries, and super powers. Any mixture of these three elements will peek my interest.

Note: This post was accidentally put up in the IC section. I've edited over that post with an IC appropriate post.

@TheForgottenArc@prettydrops

So after reading your posts, I changed the game time in the 1st IC post. Four hours have passed correct? If so, that puts you at 3:30.

Also, I saw what prettydrops was saying. I'm glad you already had the conversation about controlling other people's characters. I second all of that.

That being said, you two can control my characters (such as the professor and the Pokedex) as long as you're being true to their established personalities and not making any game changing posts. Edit: This does not apply to the traveler. He's only there to pass by the action and continue on his way.
The evening sun peaked through the trees as another breeze swept the air. The scene between Hawka and Danny was escalating quickly.

In the midst of the madness, a traveler passed the two young men. His steps were fast and determined. The man was uninterested in the situation that was unfolding and did not break stride. Preoccupied with Hawka, neither Danny nor Indigo managed to get anything more than a glance at the man.

@prettydrops@TheForgottenArc

I like the back and forth character building posts you two. This is why I like this RP. You don't need me to reply to EVERY post.

That being said, if there is anything for me to reply to OR if I just feel like adding something on my own, I will be doing that tomorrow. I'm on a double today.
@Balthazar007question... if there's nine contest gyms and each one gives you one golden ticket to enter a contest, and it takes 5 ribbons to get to the grand festival, then shouldn't there be ten ribbons to get in total to do two grand festivals- therefore, 10 contest gyms? or maybe it's easier to make it so that nine contests ribbons = one grand festival instead of splitting it up into two?

I appreciate your making contests more involved! I just had to double check though haha. if it helps, I personally wouldn't mind having only one grand festival. whatever is easier for you!

Well, a golden ticket is used up if you don't win the contest. So you'll have to go get another golden ticket to enter again. And there are two grand festivals a year, not because you have to win or even compete in them both, but so that you can TRY to win twice a year.

Also, I wanted you to figure this part out through game play, but I bet you would ask. You cannot beat the same Contest Gym twice in a row, but you can revisit after beating a certain number of others.

The point of all this is that I don't expect you to ALWAYS win. And unlike the games, there is no turn off the gameboy and restart until you win option.
"Hey, pokedex, think you can tell us more about gyms and contests?" It sounded stupid, but the professor had said should they have any questions, defer to the pokedex...

He looks towards Indy's Pokedex not wanting to take out his just yet, Curious as to its answers.

As soon as Indigo said, "Hey, Pokedex," a pale blue line crossed the otherwise black screen. There was a solid two seconds of silence after he finished his question. Then came a male voice, that ALMOST sounded human. The pale blue line spiked as the voice spoke. "Hello. I would be happy to go over the basics of gyms and contests with you.

"There are nine different arenas that double as both gyms and contest halls. Each of these arenas has a special theme and is ran by one Gym Leader and one Head Coordinator.

"Those competing in Septoh's battle league will want to challenge the Gym Leaders. Once they collect all nine Gym badges, they will be given a pass to enter the Battle Tower. If they can defeat everyone in the tower, they will earn the title of Champion. Becoming a champion will give them the right to enter Septoh's Champion's league, and ultimately challenge for the title of Grand Champion.

"Those competing in the Septoh's contest league will want to challenge Head Coordinators. Defeating a Head Coordinator will earn them a Golden Ticket. A Golden Ticket can be exchanged in order to enter a Contest Hall, where they can compete for a Contest Ribbon. Once five ribbons have been collected, they earn the right to compete in the Grand Festival, which is held twice per year: once in Summer and once in Winter.

"All victories, in either the battle league or the contest league are rewarded with cash prizes. That is all the introductory information I have on the two subjects. Do you have any more questions?"
@prettydrops@TheForgottenArc
I was thinking that leveling up could simply be done by any sort of "training". This includes battling wilds, training against your own Pokemon, or even excersizing or running solo drills. Basically, any post where a Pokemon is getting experience, you can then level up the Pokemon. (Again, I'm going to let y'all keep track of your own leveling up.)

As far as slowing down leveling up, I think I'll just say this:
While a Pokemon is below level 20, they can gain up to 4 levels in one day. At level 40, they can gain up to three levels per day. At level 60, they can gain up to two levels per day. And once they hit level 80, they can only gain one level per day.

Sound fair?
@TheForgottenArc
@Balthazar007another question... Are we allowed to put events that happen IC? or would you rather us not do that? or should we mention it beforehand?

so for example if dan and indy are walking on this long stretch of road, can I put in my post that a light thunderstorm started and it starts to rain?

or, can I possibly mention an NPC trainer challenging indigo and dan? or how about wild pokemon encounters?

These are all good questions, and the answer to all of them is YES, but with a few things to keep in mind.

First, weather: you can change the weather to the point that you don't permanently effect the ecosystem. In other words, you can't write about MAJOR storms that knock down trees or anything of the like. I will do that, and these will often be related to a Legendary Pokemon. At most, you could write about a lightning storm that maybe strikes down one tree in the area.

Second, trainers and Pokemon: Like you said, you may create, control, and battle NPCs in your IC posts. And you can make wild Pokemon appear, interact with them (battle or not), and then catch them. BUT in the case of wild Pokemon, you cannot use Pokemon that haven't already been listed to appear in the area. And I would prefer that you don't meet trainers that have Pokemon that haven't been introduced yet either.
@Balthazar007question: how long is each route? do we get to time skip when walking from location to location? I'm asking for the time on the routes because it just helps me keep my writing straight, personally. also what time is it right now in the rp? Again, just helps me when I'm describing things. xP

These are totally normal questions. I've added an extra sentence to the description of the two navigable routes, and Edited the 1st IC post. Check these places out; they should help.
@prettydrops
How does that post do for you? Sound fair?
"Hey Prof..." Indigo said slowly. "Do you uh, well, need any help remotely or something? I mean, what I'm trying to say is-" he swallowed. "Do you have any jobs for newbie trainers like me available?"

Professor Lukoo smiled a comforting smile. "Looking for a source of income huh? That's admirable, but not entirely necessary. You see, being a trainer is a job in and of itself. I don't know if you were aware, but the purpose behind the entire trainer system is both population control and research. So by simply catching Pokemon, you're doing the Pokemon community a great service. For this, you will receive free food and lodging at any Pokemon Center, as well as basic products at Pokemarts, such as Pokeballs. And don't get so wide eyed over that backpack and Pokedex, they are part of the deal too. As long as you continue to catch and train Pokemon, you will never have to pay for them."

"All that said, there are ways to earn extra disposable income, income that can be used to buy non-essential but helpful items from PokeMarts and other market places. First, there is the battle league, where you can earn money by battling other trainers, gyms, and even challenge for the title of Septoh champion. Then, there are Pokemon Contests, where you can perform in front of massive crowds. Then, there are special assignments that can include any number of things, such as photography, environmental protection, collecting samples, and much more."

Just then, one of Professor Lukoo's assistants barged into the lobby though double doors at the back of the lab. "Professor, I'm sorry to interrupt." The young man's face was red with embarrassment.

"It's okay, what's wrong?"

The young man attempted to pull himself together after seeing the two new trainers "Can you show me how to fix the quantum engine in the machine T-02 again? It's um... acting up."

"Oh my." The professor mumbled to himself, before turning to Daniel and Indigo, "If you'll please excuse me, I have to go. Please, refer to your Pokedex if you have any more questions." With those words, he hurried toward the double doors, but just as they were about to close behind him, he part way opened one, "Oh, and you'll find five Pokeballs in your bag. Good luck!"

And so, Daniel and Indigo were left alone in the lab with only one direction left to go... outside.
