@pugbutter Well to explain this geographical anomaly, it's the same as explaining on who  build the many tunnels and vast areas underground. When the Bastij arrived and explored the desert, they found traces of an ancient long lost civilization. All that remained were ruins. In the middle was found a giant Pyramid, all but covered in sand which now serves as the underground part to the palace that stands above it.

The reason for the desert being formed on the ancient kingdom's grounds involve magic portals, sand demons an ancient war, all which left the land as it is today. The effect of the portal still lingers and as so it has preserved the climate through the ages. The portal is located deep underground below the pyramid. 

I could as well go for mountains but I liked the idea of my desert being magic of origin and without any mountains involved. 

As for the trade routes, initially I had planned for the Bastij to have formed a trading agreement with the main land, using the coast owned by the Bosandas, also in an agreement with them, but that thought flew in the air. Now I'm left with only trade routes within the continent. A fleeting thought came to mind that not everyone would be willing to have a history of their country trading with another one on the other side of the vast desert but meh, I place myself at the role-player's mercy on that note. So it's all up in the air at this point, I might have to return to the agreement with the Bosandas idea.@Sisyphus

Hell, maybe the previous civilization left behind might mountains of treasures underneath. Deus Ex-machina for my economic situation, I'm cheap like that.

@Innue Did a CS. I could roleplay as a bounty for other players, roaming around. I could have a faction of mercenaries of my own maybe?
Since I didn't see a CS here I constructed something myself.

History: Even at a young age Yasahiro was naturally attracted to chemistry, how things worked on the microscopic scale. Later that attraction developed into passion and he became an official researcher funded directly by the government. His research consisted of studying the process when a ninja used Earth jutsu, what reactions took place during the jutsu and how it changed the DNA. He loved his research and always wanted to be 10 steps ahead of everyone on it so he withheld a part of it. He did all the work no? Actually he literally did all the work meaning that he didn't even accept assistants. His funders tried to pair him up multiple times but in the end they left him be as his research was satisfactory enough even though it wasn't all of it. It was all “by the rules” until he requested additional funds on a new project idea, to create...Life. The idea and it's end goal were called a perversion and Grover was scolded. They also forced an assistant to observe him as they didn't trust him anymore to be left working unsupervised. To hide the research that he was keeping hidden, Yasahiro used an underground hideout which would later turn into a fully equipped lab allowing him to create the “perversion” as called by the ignorant fools, to create an homunculi.

11 years he had served and for all it's worth they didn't even flinch when putting down his idea. But they didn't put out his will of fire. In secret he studied and researched, for 5 years he tried and failed over and over again, all for naught. He had pushed away everyone in hopes to achieve something outside his power. He had ruined his image, his position and reliability while focusing on his own selfish desire to have the power of God. Everything seemed dark until a ray of light shone upon him as he remembered! He remembered about a metal with biological properties found encased in an underground lake located in the Land of Metal. As it was near the border between the Land of Metal and Earth it wasn't that surprising that a group of scouts got a hold of it while looking for underground passageways. How did they even thing to pick up a rock in the bottom of the lake? Simple, the thing resonated a silver aura and was deemed an object of interest. Maybe with that substance he could achieve his goal.

2 months later, he had finally done it! Although not a miniature human or even animal for that matter, but it was alive nonetheless. The liquid was alive, it moved and raised as Grover approached his finger near it. The thing walked across the glass seemingly looking for an exit. The most exciting moment of his life, his dream was finally a real thing. Right before his eyes, the silver slime stood as proof of that, his accomplishment. Damn those fools for not believing him and he didn't care anymore, the thing was his and he didn't plan on sharing it anytime soon. Lost in thought while baiting the slime with his finger he accidentally touched it. A burning sensation spread over his finger as the acid-like liquid digged through his gloves and into his skin, a tingling sensation could be felt moving through his arm. He was too careless but he was so overjoyed that he payed this “little” incident no heed. Returning home he took the best sleep he had ever had since before being born. Or so he felt at first but it was all replaced with surprise, panic and agonizing pain soon to follow.

As soon as he closed his eyes he found himself awake and in front of the acidic slime with the glass in his hand. With no control of his body he opened his mouth abnormally wide in a horrific manner, enough to pop his jaw off, and turned the glass upside-down shoving it in his mouth. The initial pain of the content scorching his mouth, making it's way to his stomach, dispelled the body control. He was only able to cough a few drops on the ground as the rest had already made its way inside him. The hellish pain spread through all of his body, forcing it into a metamorphosis. The process lasted the whole night only momentarily stopping a few times to let him adjust to the change and keep him alive and conscious. In the end he was discovered by the security which got reports of a man walking in an erratic manner naked through the night. Since then it has been the descent from one level of hell to the next, only going faster the deeper he fell.

Firstly they thought of executing “it” at which point Grover went on a rampage. Seeing his strength, rather than put it down they decided to send him in suicide missions deep in enemy territory. This went on for 30 years until evidence of the Monster's affiliation with the Earth Clan was found. Returning from another successful mission, mainly consisting of him massacring everything, he was told to enter the village gates by daylight. What was the reason they would have him expose himself in broad daylight was his initial thought but nonetheless he followed through. As he entered the gate from outside, he saw an inspector from the Land Of Cherry Blossom, the village Leader along with 4 douzen of their strongest warriors waiting for him.
Village Leader:”See? It planned to attack us. It means to slaughter us like everyone else. We have no affiliation with this abomination, this... perversion of human dementia.”
It was a set up? For 30 years he did their bidding and at the slightest inconvenience he caused them they decided to put him down? As he heard the last words an anger rose up within him, he couldn't handle it anymore. For 30 years he was used as a sacrificial rock. He wasn't even a pawn, he was a pebble that they threw on the board to knock other pieces off. He went into rage losing all reason and however much sanity that he had managed to preserve through decades of slaughter.

After regaining his consciousness he found himself awake in the middle of the woods. Since then he used and perfected his body transformation technique that allowed him to look like a human. He only goes and visits human settlements to stay up to speed with the latest info, the same way he learned that he killed the head of the village with hundreds of casualties, but otherwise he stays in the woods.

Being an Ex-scientist he has extended knowledge on science, especially on biology and chemistry.

He also has very steady hands and very good hand eye coordination obtained through his life as a researcher.

Special Traits
Can move and rotate his limbs freely at his joints as long as it isn't obstructed by the rest of his body.
Can easily reattach a severed limb and heal it instantly. By consuming chakra he can heal every damage instantly.
As he is made from a biologic metal, his body is immune to normal weapon attacks/physical attacks in general and could possibly receive minor scratches from chakra infused weapons, but it also makes him heavy. The weight doesn't slow him down as his power is also greater than most, comparable to the 7th Gate, the Gate of Wonder. Only high powered S-ranking spells and forbidden spells with high destructive power can  injure him.
Has an advanced digestion system which can process almost everything and get the maximum energy out of it. Can consume raw chakra radiating from someone, by directly eating them or absorbing a jutsu. Eating harmful substances is ineffective.
His breathing apparatus is also modified so that it filters all the harmful substances that could pose a threat to his body. It can smell the chakra of someone and upon registering their chakra once he can easily track them later on. This also extends to knowing how much chakra someone has left and if a chakra consuming ability has been cast recently or if it is still in effect. It can filter the water to obtain oxygen.
Immune to environmental effects. Besides transforming his body, his organs and brain was also affected. The parasite has merged with his brain making him immune to every genjutsu ability. He can simply not perceive any genjutsu's effects.

Description: He changes his body structure forming 6 propellers using his limbs to imitate a rotating motoion. 2 above him with a set of arms, 2 below him with another set of arms, his legs are used to change direction in addition to adding speed. He can use another set of hands to form 2 other propellers, both to the side, for additional speed and control.
Weakness: Stay away from the water.
