Witch Trials (Title up for change)

The thing with the familiar is that it's use is to make the witch stronger but has a lot of risk.
Any witch could get one, but many opt out simply because of the high risk
No real risk if it is not capable of dying.
Edit: it would be able to heal itself...but it's like a high risk thing. You get more power, but you are easier to catch and if it dies you lose a lot.
Is what I was thinking

As for the books if it goes through I have a plan for my character involving several....which in my head is really cool.
Spell books of old and such.

His claws are black
While his wings are small, he is capable of flight.
He hops much like a kangaroo due to larger hind legs and smaller front legs. (Better reference would be a rabbit..because he is small)

Personality:
While this dragon looks adorable, there is actually a scheming intelligent mind in that skull. What this one lacks in size he makes up with in brains. Being small and adorable means he has an advantage getting around and dealing with humans. Unlike other dragons, he does not feel the need to horde anything. And, while capable of speaking, often does not when first meeting. Rather, he chirps and makes other various noises considered 'cute'.

Bio:
Envy was born alone, his egg abandoned. He did not dwell on this and has decided that he needs to make the best of his situation.

Power 1:
-Toxic/venom/acid manipulation: Envy is capable of being venomous. This is like a snake, however he can control when he wants to be venomous or not. His claws and blood are poisonous, allowing for him to be unlikely to be eaten any time soon. Might be why he's green. Basically, eating him or being bitten when he is upset is bad for one's health. Instead of breathing fire he spits acid. Think dilophosaurus.

He is really really soft. Cloud level soft.
Envy is one who is hard to get to trust, but once he does trust you he is a loyal friend.
His teeth are really sharp and he seems to eat his weight in meat.
His voice sounds like the cat (salem) in sabrina the teenage witch.

okay so for the power...are you saying to combine the two and make it basically one power?

i have an idea
a familiar
a familiar would be an animal that would lend more power to the witch
the price is that the two are linked
if you catch the familiar you catch the witch.
its like a piece of the soul is there
only difference is if you kill a familiar it does not kill a witch but it does hurt them significantly even weakens their abilities to lower then what they started with

thoughts?

edit: also...what about spell books?
i think with this one, the witch would have their power that does not need spells
and then can do other things with spell books
those who have gotten really good might be able to memorize them and think of the spell hard enough to do it...those inexperienced would need to say it out loud somehow

thoughts on this as well?
