Current Sorry for my lack of posts lately. I've just... been struggling to get the energy to write something up. I'm trying some new meds through so hopefully that will change soon.

Do I foresee that the battle was lost because various members of the squad simply just didn't have their head in the game for whatever reason?
A slight look of frustration appeared on Torrential's face at the remark about his presence uniting those that met him. "It's not intentional on my part I assure you. I never asked for anyone to follow me but I always seem to find myself being asked by somepony to tell them how to run their lives. If ponies have one design flaw, it is that they bend to easily at the knees."

Taking a few deep breaths to calm himself down, the alicorn seemed to relax a little... and even looked a little bit embarrassed about his outburst. "I apologize. It's just something that has plagued my mind ever since..." Torrential seemed to... sag a little as he laid down in the mud, breathing deeply to keep himself in a state that he could talk about what was on his mind. "A long time ago, I found myself asking the question 'Are ponies following you and looking up to you because of who you are or because of what you are?' Were they only seeking my advice because I was bigger and stronger then them? I do acknowledge that I was also more experienced then them but when you have the first two you don't really need experience to make ponies listen to you..."

"And I couldn't turn to my brothers and sisters on the issue because either they wouldn't quite understand what it was I was trying to say to them, they wouldn't care or it would merely vex them like it was doing to me, maybe even more so. I suspect that Luna once asked herself the same question, but I'm sure you've heard that tale already." Rolling his wings a little, Torrential shook them a out before resting them once again. Turning to look at Star Dancer, he smiled at her softly as he asked "What do you think Ms Dancer? Often times philosophical matters need to be discussed so that it can evolve and reach maturity and I would welcome a fresh perspective."

Saraphim, Fortress Blood Harvest

If someone was narrow minded enough to try and give the Nur'xal a stereotype, it would be that they were good at warfare. After thousands of years of ritual raids and battles to the death, the Nur'xal had learned the importance of being able to secure your base of operations with all haste. What had once been a simple clearing in the mountains had been turned into a fortified defensive position that promised any attacker was going to seriously regret picking the wrong side; Liberal uses of mines had blocked off all but one ground route that was being covered by machine gun nests, snipers and anti armor emplacements. A small trench network had already been dug and a second, larger one was already in the process near the entrance of the only safe path into the fortress. Anti air guns had also been placed around the base in order to ensure that the skies would not be turned against them.

The amount of armaments and weapons that was being ferried down to the planet from the fleet above might have seemed insane to the average civilian, but it did serve a different purpose beyond ensuring that the Nur'xal would be hard to remove from the planet. It also opened up room in the ships above the planet.

Today however was going to be a first through. With their foothold more or less secure, the first of the raiding parties was being sent out. Scouts had checked out a couple of the nearby settlements and had gotten a look at a few of the conflicts that were taking place. While the defending aliens seemed like a much greater challenge, at the moment the leadership had decided on gathering information before committing themselves to such a large assault; The target was going to one or more of the supply caravans that the attackers were using to ship resources to the battles. While individually they seemed to be weak, they tried to overcome that flaw but working together and protecting those unwilling to fight... They smelt of the Shepard Heresy. Such taint could not be allowed to stand!
....................................

Summary: The Nur'xal stronghold of Fortress Blood Harvest is well underway and is secure enough for them to start sending out raiding parties. Their target is going to be the supply lines owned by the civilian forces, with their goals to capture members of the alien race alive in order to start learning about them; strengths, weaknesses, language ect...
Name: Vincent Alexander
Gender: Male
Age: Early 50's (But looks late thirties/early forties)
Appearance: Written description and/or picture

Rank: Captain
Class:Shock trooper/Field Medic(Engineer)

Personality: Pragmatic and calculating, Captain Alexander has seen war before and experienced it from both the front lines and the officers desk. Unlike many other army officers, Captain Alexander seems to treat the militia with the same respect as he would normal members of the army; Before he joined the army Vincent Alexander had been a noble born training to be a doctor when war was declared and he was conscripted into the militia. While he started off as a field medic, Alexander would later join the army proper as a shock trooper.

Vincent Alexander is a man that is not afraid to spend men if that is what it takes to win. He is however not one to waste them either; Plans that require more or less throwing a squad into the meat grinder will only be considered if it really is the best way to end the battle with minimum casualties. Even then, the squad will be equipped as properly as can be so that they have a shot of surviving the meat grinder.

While not a political man, Vincent does understand how the game works; While he largely leaves the petty power plays and useless pandering well enough alone, he will play the game for the greater good of the nation when the situation arises.
To soon...

As the cries of alarm started to ring out, Cimmerade turned towards the entrance of the village that he himself had used just a few minutes prior, a sickening feeling in his stomach that had nothing to do with the strain of his already exhausted body. His first fear had been that the twilight had already caught up with him, the monsters already laying siege to this town while he was at his weakest. But the beasts in the darkness weren't prone to using horns to signal their attacks...

With Aaron rushing over towards one of the armed villages (No doubt to offer aid; The plant man seemed the sort) Cimmerade considered his options for a moment before moving as fast as he could push himself towards the biggest building in the village in search of shelter from the coming engagement. While turning away from a battle like this felt wrong on a spiritual level, Cimmerade was not an insane fool; He was unarmed and was on the tail end of several days with little to no rest. It was a miracle he wasn't already suffering from hallucinations... then again, he had just been having a conversation with a friendly plant man...

The cold hard truth of the matter was that he was in no condition to be fighting this battle; All he would do is get himself and anyone trying to protect his sleep depraved ass killed needlessly. If the big building had a bow or something in it then maybe the situation would change, but right now the best thing he could do was get out of everyone's way so they could focus on the fighting ahead.
A system that I've seen done before was that if anyone went inactive for a long period of time without warning or explanation, their characters would go to the GM and would normally be killed off to A) Help hammer home the point that this was a life or death situation and B) To make room for new characters/active players.

Just a thought.

I'll also do a bit of a character sheet for NPC Captain Alexander. Just encase you feel like using him for something down the line. I'll write it up sometime tomorrow.
I'll wait until things are wrapped up before posting anything.

Honestly, I'm okay with sitting out of this combat. Logically speaking, my guy is not in the best condition to fight now anyway.
There really wasn't much to say; A safe place to rest was being offered and Cimmerade would be a prideful fool to turn it down. Sure, some of the nobility in his situation wouldn't let themselves sink so low as to accept the aid of their so called 'lessers' but there was a reason he had chosen the path of the 'Outcasts'. Following the friendly plant man, the hooded Twili braced himself to go back out into the sunlight. His clothing might have protected him from its harmful effects but that still didn't make dealing with such bright lights an enjoyable experience.

"Thank you. I don't believe many would offer to help a random stranger in need." Cimmerade said honestly.
There were some situations in which having someone keep watch while everyone else slept was the smartest idea. After all, if everyone was asleep then if something came by everyone would be screwed. While it helped if the person playing overwatch was known and trusted, sometimes you just couldn't be too picky. "I might take you up on that offer... You wouldn't happen to come somewhere out of the sun that I could get some rest for free would you? I'm afraid that the hardship that drove me from my home has also left me without anything but the cloths on my back."
So we are not going to get a few hours to do some stuff before the village comes under attack?
