Gaumont drew a big smile as Sonia just noticed the wolf-fang's tail wagging. After her question Sonia gave a teasing wink before tossing him one of her alcoholic drinks. It seemed he liked it when she petted him, and so for that reaction and that reaction alone she decided he was worth a happy drink! It was very adorable to see such a giant wolf guy enjoy a delicate touch of a girl her size. It was then that she saw the big lander guy step up, asking for the clown's stage, and made his announcement.
Apparently, there was a large gathering of oni were moving toward Kyoto. If memory served, this was a yearly event in the game, though she could be wrong. At first, Sonia was excited for the prospect of more loot and equipment, but then a sudden thought struck her. We're actually in the game aren't we? And we have not seen the oni actually make it to Kyoto have we? This thought cut short all other thoughts she had as she closed her eyes and began contemplating it. Though they couldn't die....what about the landers? Do they respawn like them or are they gone forever? They were darker thoughts than she usually had, but the prospect of people's lives potentially in danger made it justified.
Visibly, Sonia's face turned less into excitement and more of concern. Her darker thoughts turned toward what other adventurers might be thinking. Sure, some of them would be more selfish and not care about saving the town, and that was fine. They would get plenty of loot out of it. What did concern her was that there wouldn't be enough adventurers. Much as she despised it, some of the adventurers would have given up and stay in town. They wouldn't want to die despite being able to resurrect. She's already seen so many of that type. Ignoring what the clown just said about the guy being a lobster lord, Sonia decided to voice her concerns in a serious tone as if a switch was flipped. "Something tells me that if this is not done, Kyoto and all of those landers will really be in trouble." She said after the wolf-fang's statements, though she couldn't help but feel slight excitement for the challenge once she got it off of her chest. A challenge....she might actually enjoy this. Being a champion of justice....that was something she couldn't ever do back in the other world. Regardless, she awaited the response of her request for joining the party.
Ohh, this looks interesting since it's an industrial age and horror setting, though I do have questions. Number one is obviously if there are slots still open. Two is I see both casual and advanced tags, so what are the posting requirements?
Sonia was extremely entertained! A performance like that was something that she rarely got to see, with the exceptions being from her scarce trips with her mother or father. Even then, there was always some kind of work involved for it. Though most of the details were admittedly beyond her understanding Sonia had to admit that the clown was quite the contortionist and juggler. What made it all better was that so many other people were entertained by the clown. Everyone deserved to be happy, even if for a moment!
"Yay! Merci beaucoup!" Sonia exclaimed loudly as she clapped her hands in rapid fashion after the performance, forgetting that these people did not know the French language for a second, promptly switching back to Japanese to avoid more confusion. The wolf-fang Guardian, by the looks of him, then lifted the clown off of him and said something with a cute friendly smile in her opinion. That smile was enough to prompt Sonia to take a few steps forward, tiptoe, and give him a good headpat after he put the clown down. "Awww, you're cute too! Are you her assistant?!" Sonia blurted out before thinking once again, giving a few good pets before stepping back with a content smile. That is when she remembered the words the Guardian was saying to the clown. Something about being in a party. What a coincidence, she was also looking for a party! Maybe she could try these people. "Oh, you said something about a party. Can I join?! I'm looking for one!" She chirped as she got out one of her flasks of guerilla special alcohol and tossed it to the clown, Sen. It was for the performance after all, and everyone needed a happy drink.
Danny was pulled from his focus on creating by the sound of someone asking him a question, something about the radio he was working with. He looked up and raised an eyebrow to find a fit looking woman leaning over his tarp, eyeing him and his gear. After a moment, he removed an earbud and said with a smile "Yep, that's a Marine Corps radio alright. I got it from my dad's big pile of old Corps stuff, he was in the Marines so he has a lot of it. Figured I could splice it together with this phone, try to make a long rage one."
Jane Kelly took note of the man's words and the fact that he acklowledged her English without fail. His smile was friendly enough, but now her curiosity was piqued as he confirmed that was indeed a Marine Corps radio. This man did not sound like a Marine himself, but his claim of how he got the equipment seemed valid at least. Furthermore, it seemed his technological skill was not lacking at the very least. Already he is an interesting man. "Your father was a Marine? What unit did he serve in?"
Danny gave a slightly embarassed chuckle at her question, saying "I uh...I don't actually know. He didn't like to talk about his time in the Marines, as I understand it didn't go too well...y'seem mighty interested in the Corps, were you a Marine too? If you don't mind my noticing, you do seem American."
Jane smiled and could not help but feel that Corps pride as she stated "That is because I am American. Sergeant Jane Kelly, 1st Marine Regiment. Served in the Middle East as infantry and as an assaultman."
"Ah...cool." Danny replied and rubbed the back of his head, thinking to himself "Aw man, I don't actually know what any of that means..." After a moment longer, he asked "So, what're you doing here in Japan?"
Jane replied promptly with "I am travelling to see the different places in the world without being shot at." It was the truth. She was merely a tourist here, though this did not mean that Jane was not staying. Far from it, in fact. "Have a few buddies stationed at Camp Hansen one time that suggested to start here, so I did."
"Ah, that's cool. I work for a welding company stateside that sent me here to work on some big project. It's sure an interesting country, ain't it?"
"I barely even arrived and I have to agree with you. A lot more to do here than back at my home in the states." Kelly thought a moment, "By the way, you didn't say your name. And while you're at it what company do you work for?"
"Ah, right, my name is Daniel Williams, but you can call me Danny. I work for a little company called DynaMetal, you've probably never heard of us. Anywho, what brings you here this fine morning?"
"I am out for a walk. Heard there was a nature trail a bit past that building right over there." Jane pointed to the office building. She thought for a second, "And you have guessed right, I have not heard of that company before."
Danny chuckled and said with a shake of his head "Ah don't worry, you will soon. We're on the rise, especially in these parts. I didn't know there was a trail over this way, and I've been here plenty, but I guess I don't get off roads much so I'd probably've missed it..." Danny trailed off and his eyes returned to the half-formed contraption in his hands as he returned to working on it.
"Oh I have no doubt I will hear more of you soon." Jane replied with a slight smirk. She will see if this becomes true or not. As she watched Danny return to work on his device she looked around, mainly toward the office building. She had a funny feeling about that place for some unknown reason, but right now there was no reason to concern herself. "You know, sitting there on the street and fiddling with that thing is only going to make you look more and more like a hobo, right?" Jane said off-handedly, though there was no harmful intent involved in the way she said those words.
"A hobo huh? That's fine, working on this stuff out here in the sun is more fun than my workshop anyway. Is that why you came over here, though I was some random hobo who stole a radio from the Marines?"
Jane giggled slightly before replying with a smile "Maybe. It is not that hard to get a Marine radio." She stepped toward where the trail was presumed to be as she said "Better at least get a table to work on."
Sensing the conversation was near its end, Daniel was already looking back down at the radio/phone combo and tinkering, absently replying "Too heavy to carry around. A tarp is better."
Jane shrugged at this response, looking at her watch. "Suit yourself. I'm going. Maybe we will see each other again." With that, Jane gave a final nod before moving onto the trail.
Another day, another batch of alcohol made. Sonia wiped her brow as she finally put the last of the alcohol she was making, her new guerrilla special, into flasks and bottles. When the Apocalypse came about, at first Sonia was scared out of her wits and she visibly panicked, which was highly uncharacteristic for her at the time. Then as the days grew past Sonia learned how to deal with it. First, she learned how to fight the lower level monsters. It was then that she figured out how to fight with her body and not with the command prompts. Second, as the food was discovered to be good when hand-made Sonia attempted to do the same with brewing. Amazingly, it worked! At the very least, with the right ingredients she could make anything with that extra kick as long as she had the willpower to make it. Though going out into the forest occasionally to gather ingredients(and sometimes help the poor under levels serve those mean and nasty PKers with some justice) this is how she spent most of the two weeks she had when she was not sitting in bed missing her parents and home or selling the alcohol. Plenty of people strangely wanted this stuff after the Apocalypse, though Sonia guessed she did not need to worry about that.
Today, however, Sonia wanted to get out and take a break from the brewing. Perhaps taking on a few quests and getting with people again. She sorely missed interacting with others. With this decision quickly made Sonia got her...new body up from the seat she was sitting in and did a quick inventory check. When she did so she began to equip her armor, gloves, and her sword. She always wore her ribbon as a trademark. Even when she could have gotten something better to wear, Sonia always refused to do so. She just thought it looked adorable on her every time she looked at herself in a mirror. Other than that, her armor was light, allowing ease of movement while at the same time giving her some protection, at least as far as it looked, and was blue in color. Her gloves were fingerless gloves, allowing her to keep a good grip on her sword. Looking in the mirror one more time, Sonia saw her avatar's reflection once more before clapping her hands together. "Right, let's go!" She said to herself loudly and energetically as she practically skipped out.
After visiting the bank and depositing a lot of her ingredients and other important items such as her gold save for some alcohol and some healing potions Sonia went to explore a bit around Kyoto. Now, where is everyone forming parties at? There, she finally got to the town square! Wow, look at all of these people! She was simply amazed at how many people were here, adventurers and people of the land! She walked among the crowd talking with random adventurers and landers, with no one in particular catching her interest.
That is, until she saw a pointy hat that looked like a jester's hat. The hat, the outfit to go with it, and wow that pretty blonde hair! Oh, and those pointy elf ears! Sonia verbally let out an "Aww" as she looked at the girl talking to the big-buff armored guy she presumed. No matter, she could not stand it any longer. She had to get in closer! That hat was interesting and she zoomed in on the target. Very quickly, hoping no one could react to her swift action, Sonia struck! Immediately, she grabbed the hat of the elf-lady that she later saw on the status screen was Sen and tugged on it somewhat-gently proclaiming with a energetic chirp, a mischievous smile and rapid fire "Bonjour! Wow, so cute! How did you get this hat?! Aww, and those little elf-ears too! You're so adorable in that outfit! Oh and you're a clown too, that makes this even better! Can you juggle?! Do you know clown tricks?! Show me!" Sonia knew she was a stranger to them and didn't know how these two would react to her, but she did not care! She believed they would be good at least to her. She was extremely tempted to hug the elf. Even the armored man, as he was adorable in his own way.
Username: Gaumont (To this day, she still can't believe it worked.)
Age: 20
Race: Human
Class and Level: Lvl 85 Swashbuckler
Subclass and Level: Brewer Lvl 60
Guild: N/A
Bio: Sonia Gaumont was born in France under a French father, whom she takes most after, and Japanese mother who owned a large and successful company and who worked as the overall manager of the Japanese branch respectively. However, as neither married the other this naturally led to whose name she would inherit and who would take custody over her. In the end, both parents decided that Sonia would inherit her father's name and arranged how long she would be under the custody of each parent. As such, Sonia almost never stayed at any single school until she reached her 1st year in high school, where she finally settled in Japan under her mother's supervision by her own choice, seeing her father during the summer. The friends that she made soon after told her about Elder Tale, and so Sonia decided to give it a try.
What started as curiosity turned into admiration, then an addiction that lasted for two years and some expansion pack releases. In Elder Tale, Sonia did not have to say she was the daughter of a multi-million company at the least. Furthermore, she could interact with players that would not judge her based on her wealth. The challenge in Elder Tale kept Sonia going, though she mostly stuck with solo play. There were a couple of guilds who she was friendly with: a minor guild called Brewer Town who convinced her to try the brewer subclass and Holy Sword, another minor guild that Sonia ran into several times and hangs out with a few of their members. Unfortunately, Sonia had to put behind Elder Tale for a while because of her mother urging her to do something productive with the company. After finally getting some free time from her work as more or less as a desk jockey for the company headquarters in Japan, Sonia heard of the new expansion pack, Homesteading the Noosphere, and was eager to try it out. She was of course logged in during the time of the Apocalypse.
Personality: Sonia Gaumont tends to be happy-go-lucky to the point of being overbearing. She is an optimist who is not used to the rigors of the real world thanks to her inherited wealth and having most of her needs taken care of by others. Still, this does not mean she is a recluse, as Sonia has at least a few friends and admirers outside.
Never having any money problems did not mean she was not careful with her money. She was taught an extensive amount about business management and basic finance though Sonia never did like anything serious such as these lessons. In addition, any job that she did have to do was always a desk job, nothing that required physical labor due to her familial status. Despite this, Sonia always likes a challenge.

The son later became a necromancer and raised an army of undead to conquer the town. However a holy knight used this very sword to not only repel the undead army but to defeat the son. It was soon lost afterward. It is said that the new wielder of the sword will be betrayed at some point in their lives and will have to take up the same sword against their very friend or significant other to prevent their evil acts. This was an award in a very difficult dungeon that Sonia helped a party in.
