Personal Style: Generally speaking, Darren dresses like your typical guy. He wears jeans, cords, shorts, shirts, polo shirts, plain tees, and the odd vest when it is really hot. Things like fashion aren’t really high on his agenda on a day to day basis. He’ll wear anything from hiking boots to sandals on his feet and he isn’t overly fond of accessories as he feels they just get in his way. Although, just because he likes to be casual doesn’t mean he can’t or won’t scrub up when the occasion calls for it. In these cases he’ll generally sport dressier shoes, a blazer, maybe a jacket and a smart shirt. For
really fancy occasions he’ll suit up.
He usually sports a very bushy beard and has short brown hair that is styled to suit his needs but considering how warm Africa is compared to Washington State, he’s opted to trim the beard down to a more manageable (and breathable) length. He’s got little crinkles at the sides of his eyes from being such a happy, friendly kind of guy. He looks totally approachable. Just sayin’.

Personality: He’s pretty much just a giant teddy bear with muscles. He’s the most down to earth, caring guy you could ever meet. He may not say much when he doesn’t need to speak, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have something to say. Darren doesn’t just do things for the sake of doing them. He has goals and ambitions for everything that he sets out to do. In fact, he’s using this experience not just to meet someone new, but as a means to get him to be a little less quiet in social settings when he isn’t drinking. So even if he doesn’t meet someone that he clicks with, he’ll still be leaving this experience a better person hopefully.
Despite being quiet, Darren is pretty damn forward. He knows what he wants and goes ahead and tries to get it. It’s how he manages to be so average in life but has rock hard abs. He decided one day that he wanted them and, oh hey look, he now has them. As much as it may seem like it, his life doesn’t revolve around fitness. From Monday to Friday it kind of does but he lives for his weekends which he likes to call “cheat-ends”. Yeah, he didn’t quite think the name for them through but the only thing he plans on cheating is his diet. He’s a strictly one woman kind of guy and loves opening up to people that he feels a connection with. Although, if there is no connection there, he won’t even waste his time on you. Oh and, one final thing, he’s a fucking weekend alcoholic. KTHXBAI.

History: He was a typical American boy from Washington state. He grew up in a household with happily married parents who raised him and his two younger sisters. He lived in a small town called Poulsbo and had a really average, but happy, childhood. He played football, hockey and baseball when he was younger. He was an avid swimmer and rock climber and he also liked to go for long hikes through the woods and up the hills and mountains nearby.
He went to college and got a degree in physical therapy. Then he took night classes while working as a physical therapist, to get his diploma in dietetics. He met his estranged wife in these night classes and they were married within a year of meeting (first red flag) but didn’t live together until a year after they were married (second red flag). Darren was 24 when he married his wife and she claimed to be 26. Darren found out on their wedding night that she was actually 33 (third red flag) but he didn’t care because he truly loved her.
They moved in together and lived as a married couple for two years before his wife decided that he wasn’t volatile enough for her (fourth red flag) and asked for a trial separation (fifth red flag). They still lived together but had separate rooms. His wife then decided six months later that separate rooms were not good enough (sixth red flag) and told him that she was moving in with her friend, Ezekiel (seventh red flag). Not long after she moved out, Darren discovered that she’d moved to Jamaica. Without telling him. With Ezekiel.
After being absolutely destroyed by the news, Darren made it his goal to make the most of himself and his life. He had been pretty healthy previously but he kicked it up a gear or five and got into the best shape of his life which is what led him to his career as a personal trainer.
Now after 6 years of online dating, blind dates and friendly fix-ups, Darren is ready to try something new.
