So this is just a basic idea that I had that we can build upon together throughout the role play. There will be a general background and setting and plot, but I always think the best rps are the ones where sub plots and specific species backgrounds are tailored by the players themselves, so that's what I'm going for.
The idea is that there is something known as Yenna's Crystal, a sacred jewel of about 12 feet high. Half of the giant gem is black while the other is white, and the jewel was originally equally balanced. The legend is that a high priestess, Yenna, turned her body into the jewel to keep the balance between good and evil stable in the world. It holds the power to completely change the world as we know it, and bring utter chaos upon our land. For centuries the gem was kept safe in a hidden cave, until for some reason the wizards who protected the shield around were all knocked unconscious.
A dark magic user calling himself Dormammu had stolen the crystal to take the powers of the priestess for himself. In the battle to retrieve it, the jewel shattered. Hundreds of pieces were scattered across the nearby large city of New York, half of them of the Yang side and half of the Yin. It was there that you and many others lived normal lives. Magic is foreign to our world, and has always been secret, until the outbreak. The Yang shards attached to those with weak souls and turned them into monstrous beings with incredible power, known as Daemons, that follow under Dormammu's rule.
But there are others, known as the Niflheim, who's strong souls and good sense of morals attracted the Yin shards. Some of worse pasts than others, some older and some younger, some having a bad personality and some good— they are all different. Either way, 12 yin shards have chosen these Niflheim, and these chosen will be the ones to save the world by recollecting the missing shards before Dormammu and his Daemon get to them first.
Will you stand up against evil? Or will you fall to the darkness? It is your choice.
