...Someone was watching her.

While she wasn't quite as perceptive in that regard as Stratya, growing up alongside the knight captain meant she had picked up a thing or two along the way. The ability to pick up others gazes being one of said skills, her eyes scanning the ballroom till she met Nikolai's gaze. Almost immediately, her iris's narrowed to slits as she tried to assess why this man was staring at her so intently, but couldn't quite from this distance. At their eyes meeting though, the man seemed to notice and winked at her. The action, accompanied by an annoying little smile, rubbed Freyja the wrong way.

Granted, it wouldn't take much to earn her annoyance right now considering her mood, but something about him seemed to especially annoy her so. He was doubtlessly an annoying and infuriating man. She couldn't quite put her finger on why she knew, she just...did. Some people just had a certain vibe to them, and this man had a vibe just...pissed her off. Enough in fact, that she made her way into the crowd, disappearing from his view briefly if he looked back that way, not that he probably did as he spoke to Fareed. It didn't take long for her to reappear, this time in front of him as she tapped her cane on the ground, just in case she had to get his attention.

Why did she have this cane again? Oh right, something about it suited the outfit? Bah, fashion was beyond her.

"Did your parents never teach you its rude to stare at people? Or is there something on my face? Please do explain yourself, I would love to hear it." She took a moment to assess the man now that she was closer. Judging by his physique, he was probably a knight of sorts. Not one from Caesonia though, and from what she knew of Alidasht he didn't match the appearance she would expect. That left Varian, unless her first assumption had been wrong, but she was pretty confident he didnt match the vibe from a Caesonian knight. For Nikolai's part, he towered over this woman currently glowering up at him by about a whole foot, yet she didn't seem fazed in the slightest. While she seemed annoyed with him, which she technically was, little did he know thats just how she normally looked at people.

Turning to his companion, she really had to crane her neck up to look at this man proper. Ah, now he was from Alidasht. They had a rather different appearance to the other kingdoms, and she didn't mean that in a bad way. She nodded at the man before speaking again.

"Though before you declare me rude in return, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Freyja." She paused for a moment, remembering that she believed the correct way to do this was a curtsy? How would she know, she didn't do this fancy parties or noble etiquette. It was mostly pointless hogwash to her, but suppose she had better play by their rules. So she would do one of the worst attempts at a curtsy either of these two gentlemen had probably ever seen before in their lives. It was dripping with sarcasm and reluctance, insultingly so. Not that she had intended it to be that way... "I don't suppose you've seen Strat-Captain Durmand around have you? I've been trying to locate her, but there's just...so many people, its rather overwhelming..."

She would give anything to not be here at all right now. She would even take studying over this, which while she didnt mind doing, you could only do so much before getting bored. But at least if she was with Stratya, she would feel safe here if nothing else. She knew she had been told she couldn't just keep clinging to Stratya's side like she had growing up, but she felt this was different. She felt like she was in a den of vipers, no doubt whispers amongst some just from the fact she had approached these two. Not that she knew either of their reputations; hell, she barely even knew what the king looked like. She didn't care to either, beside the point. She didn't trust anyone here, and she was figuring it was already a gamble asking these two gentlemen for assistance, but they seemed 'harmless' for the most part. Though she still held the urge to slap Nikolai, for reasons that she couldn't quite understand.

She still wasn't sure why she had bothered turning up. She hated parties, she hated being around so many strangers at once. Like sure, she dealt with strangers all the time as part of her training as a doctor, but that didn't mean Freyja liked it. She just tolerated it. Besides, that was work time. This was her own private time, and she would rather be reading a book by the candlelight. Or purifying her equipment. Or pulling her teeth out one by one. Literally anything else.

But when she got the invitation, she knew she didn't have much of a choice. She didnt know why she got one, but it would be a bad look to turn it down. And Stratya had told her she needed to blend in more...so here she was, regretting her life choices and considering not for the first time, maybe it would've been better had she just died in that forest. Hyperbole for sure, overdramatic absolutely, and she would get over herself later. For now, she would just stew in misery.

She wondered if Stratya was here also, the blonde fidgeting with the hood of her cloak. The worst part had to be the fancy clothes she was wearing, even if she begrudgingly agreed it was a fine outfit, and it was the only dress of any sort anyone could convince her to buy. She liked the black over the dark red, and how it was accented with gold embroidery. Most importantly, it covered her almost entirely, with the top half more like a long sleeved blouse than a dress, meaning she didn't have to worry about people staring at the scar on her back. She still did get some unwanted stares here and there, but that was for other reasons she didn't want to think about and just ignored them.

Her amethyst gaze would instead focus its attention on scanning the inhabitants of the ballroom. Sure, there were plenty of nobility, rich folk and the like here who it would be wise to rub shoulders with, get in the good graces of. It would no doubt help careers down the line, hers included, or simply being in the good graces of such individuals was never harmful. She knew a couple of people from the hospital were certainly doing that here today, much to her disdain. But she wasn't about empty flattery and pointless small talk much, being the more direct sort. She was hoping to catch Stratya and stay with her, use her as an excuse to fraternize as little as humanly possible.

But the place was...much bigger than she was expecting. Or was there simply more people than she was expecting? Maybe even both. Either way, she wasn't spotting her immediately, and she can only keep a low profile going for so long before people came up and talked to her, whether it be because they were extroverted social butterflies, or because they were drunk on liquid courage to approach her despite the scowl on her face, or maybe even because they were interested in the girl who seemed out of her depths, despite looking the part. She even had half a mind to cast a spell to find Stratya, but quickly scuppered the idea entirely.

Even after spending over a decade in this era, she had yet to grown used to the fact they demonized and hated magicae to the extent they did. And not wanting to cause trouble for Stratya, or get herself killed for that matter considering what happened to the Queen herself earlier today, she restrained herself, instead finding comfort by rolling her fingers over the gemstone necklace she wore. A keepsake given to her by Stratya. Maybe she should find someone to speak to instead? That would be more comfortable than being approached by strangers, trying to charm her with honeyed words or worse, people who wanted to talk to her for the sake of talking to someone. Those people were the worst kind, because you can't even excuse yourself from them and their yapping...

If nothing else, if people got on her nerves too much, she did have this cane that was mostly for ornamental purposes. While she was normally against violence of any sort, she would probably be able to sleep at night if she used it on someone annoying or creeping her out too much. Besides, she was a doctor in training, she could just patch them up afterwards. Probably. Maybe. If she felt like it.

Wait, she was internally rambling way too much right now. She was getting stares for just standing there, menancingly so long. She should try something. Maybe a smile at the people-and they ran off. Gah, Stratya always said her smiles could use work. Oh well, maybe she could use them to scare people off instead? At least till she finished surveying the room(s) to either find Stratya, or someone who didn't seem like too much of a pain to talk to.

Following the lady's instructions after a brief nod and utterance of what no doubt was some sort of thank you in the eldritch tongue, Steph would find herself pushing open a set of double doors, a whistle escaping her at the scale of the battlefield arena. Like it wasn't just one field, but multiple. Guess that was a bigshot, big city trainer school for you eh?

"Demawnstruytion?" Steph didnt really know what was going on, but a glance at the two on the battlefield explained everything she needed to know. She wasn't an experienced trainer, sure, but she had watched so many Galar region fights, as well as other regions when they were televised, but in person wherever she could in Galar. They exuded the air of confidence, strength and experience that came with higher level trainers. With her attention settling on the aforementioned individuals, she lingered over the people she didn't recognise for a moment, before grinning at Jason, wandering up to the blunette and attempting to drape an arm over his shoulder.

"Ye, oym heah t' tyke on the gauntleh', figooah ya doin the syme eh Jason? Fahncy maytin yah heah anywhy, its only bayn a few hours, buh' its faelt loike mawnths, haows ih' gaowin mite?" Perhaps Steph was being too forward and friendly with the boy she had only met earlier that day and had talked to like, twice. At best. And not even really at length at all. But if Freya had learned anything about Steph in her short time knowing her also, it was that she was pretty friendly and straightforward with everyone she met. Perhaps too much.

"Lit! Lit lit!" Dusk would also Chime up from her other shoulder, the living candle seeming rather proud of himself as he made boxing gestures.

"Sawlve whaht though?" Steph wasn't sure what she meant by 'solve it'. There was a problem to solve? She didn't think a series of three battles would take too long would it? Even if it was now three seperate trainers who wanted to partake in the challenge, well two at least anyway.

@Remram

For now, Steph would reluctantly send her newfound Growlithe to the pc. If only because she needed to sort her team out due to all the water types she had, plus she figured she could train it to the South of Grand Glory City in the woods. Were they called Starbor Woods? Eh whatever it was called, she had only really glanced over the map of the region. Granted, she was tempted to head north to try and get a Beldum ASAP...eh she still had time to think it over at any rate, first and foremost her attention was focused on a bit of grinding before she found her way to the trainer school.

Once there, she heard a voice from the reception desk, so with the swagger of a black teen, approached it otherwise she wouldn't be able to beat the shit out of trainers in the gauntlet without getting any closer.

"Ye, Oy heahd theah was a triner chohlenge heah. Some sohta gauntleh' type dayl? Oy was inteahsted in hahvin a crahck myself, figured a good chahnce t' mezshah up ya knaow? Dunnao if moy friend Freya heah wahnts t' oolsao. Oh and Oy wahnna troy and wiien thaht egg ya gawt as a rewahd." Pretty straight forward response, as expected from the ever direct Steph. However would the poor receptionist make heads or tails of the eldritch tongue that spewed forth from Steph's mouth as she leaned on her forearm over the desk?

@Remram

Did she expect it to just roll over and give up without a fight? Absolutely not! Well, at the very least she hoped it wouldn't. If it wasn't obvious by the fact she did it, then the big ol grin on her face as she wrestled with the Basculin gave away that she was quite enjoying this. And perhaps concerningly considering she was succeeding, this implied this wasn't her first time at this sort of rodeo.

Which it wasn't, but that was a story for another time.

"Baettah huyng on Freya, else ya gawnna gao undah weeth us!" Steph knew the pedal boat was gonna tip over and capsize. She it came as no surprise when it did, the girl hanging onto the little bastard for dear life as limbs and tail flailed about as she attempted to just fully wrap her arms and legs around the Basculin. She had plenty of experience wrestling with her cousins, especially the older lads. They took the longest to work out how to take down with the weight and height difference they had on her, but she had worked it out none the less so in her eyes this Basculin was childs play in comparison.

Eventually though, the sucker did seem to calm down and go into a Pokeball, the bogan just floating on her back for a moment before letting out a hearty laugh amongst some deep breaths.

"Naow wahsnt thaht fun innih' Freya? Loike bloody struth, thaw' the buggah was gawnna geh' awhy faw a moment, buh' Oy taught the liiel creettah whaws bawss eh?" She was insane. It was the only logical outcome considering what Freya had witnessed in her short time with Steph. Finally deciding enough was enough, Steph swam back over to the boat and would attempt to push it back up. Failing that, she would-wait. Speaking of the boat being capsized, and everyone being knocked off it, where was Dusk?

Panicked for the first time today, Steph began to frantically splash about as she searched for her little candle in crime, only to find him still clinging to the top part of the boat like his life depended on it. How, considering he had no hands? Fuck you, thats how. Seeing her partner safe, Steph let out a sigh of relief and returned him to his Pokeball temporarily for now. At least till they got back onto land, which whether they meant swimming and pulling the boat back or going back while soaking wet on the boat.

Which once they were back on land and the boat returned to its no doubt incredulously bewildered owners, Steph would take a moment to try and dry off once she got Dusk back out. Mostly resorting to trying to wring out as much water out of her clothes as she could. She didn't even bother checking her bag for her spares, she would need to deal with how wet those got later.

"Oh roigh', befoah Oy fohgeh'." Taking a moment to send out her newfound partner in Bandit, she would take a photo and send it to the old man, before finally turning to Freya.

"Daown t' chaeck eow' the triner school Oy heahd abeow'? apparently thyre doin a soht of chohlenge, wahnna say if Oy cahn geh' the egg thy gawt up faw grahbs." Once more, this was an invitation and not an expectation. Freya was free to leave at any stage she wanted, but if she also felt obligated to try and keep Steph's craziness in check and save her from herself, then she was free to do so. But once it was established whether she was accompanying her or not, Steph would make her way to the Trainer School.

Oh and the moment she laid her eyes on a Growlithe, that was being added straight to her team in a quick catch attempt. Do not pass go. Do not collect 200 dollars. And thankfully for Freyja, she would do this the old fashioned way and battle it with Steven, hitting it with a Water Gun and maybe a quick attack two piece combo before going for the catch proper. After which, she would be painfully aware she was down to her last pokeball, a problem for after dealing with the trainer school, which she would promptly finish going to after adding a Growlithe to her growing roster.

Oh and while she was at it, grinding some levels into Bea against some of the local normal types, Dusk with the local grass types and non Duckletts, aiming to team him up with Barra to try and get another level into her loveable magikarp, and then finally Glory against any other Growlithes on their way to the trainer school. Hopefully doing this would buy some time for them to be dryerish by the time they got there, or at least not forming new ponds underfoot with every step they took.
Wel, regardless of that, she's still probably my favorite character in the RP. Whenever I read about the things she does, or how she comes to the conclusions that she reachs, it just puts a big old goofy smile on my face.

So thank you for bringing her awesome to us. :)

And to think you missed what she did in the original one lol
Yeeting Dusk at a flying Pidove because she wasn't sure how else to hit it, beat a thief half to death after his Sneasal tried to ice shard her in the head at his command, said thief also kicking his sneasal in the back and running away before receiving said beating, bullied the stall owner where she got Glory from happened last time also, just to name a few things she did lol Those goddamn Nuzleaf's were saved by the bell, lucky bastards....

Steph is both a trouble maker and a trouble magnet, so I can assure you there'll be more shit fuckery to come with her, especially when she starts finding hints at what shes looking for. And also I keep adding more layers to the jokes she has, its gotten out of control and I think I may have a problem...nah, I think I still def need to keep adding more jokes to her character. Its like, my whole thing for her lol

<Snipped quote by Lunarlord34>

She should be careful around Mantines then.

That is a good point, I should avoid them like the plague then. Not that I dont trust remy, its that I do trust him, and thats the problem
@Lunarlord34
Dude. I love Steph so much. xD

Got some major Steve Irwin/The Crocodile Hunter-flashbacks when she decided to wrestle the damn fish. 8D
Good times. Good job.

EDIT:

I can picture it now, Steph in the future...

Steph: "'Ello, 'ello, 'ello! Welcome on in t'da Feraligator 'unter! Iz me, yer gal Steph'n t'day I be showin' y'all 'owta rassle one o'em 'ere Sharpedos! *n wouya lookit'at, 'ere's one righ' now! Well, as 'ey say; GERONIBUNGA COWADOOD!!!!!"

Freya, as the forcefully-enlisted-assistant: "Wh- Steph! It's 'Geronimo' and 'Cowabunga, dude' and OH MYGOSH WHY ARE YOU TRYING TO PUT IT INTO A HEADLOCK!?"

Steph: "Ahgagsmgaxpt, gocha ya lil' buggah! 'An'memba, kids! It ain' da Sharpedos ruff'n coarse skin tha'll getchu, izzat maw o' razer shaa'p teeth 'at'll mess ya up sumthin' fierce, OhhahhahauaHey, we goh a live 'un 'ere, ey Freya?"

Freya: "WILL YOU JUST GET OUT OF THE WATER!?"

I mean, her name is Stephanie Irwin. Aka Steve Irwin, so yes, that is half the joke XD
Among many, many others. She's like an ogre, with so many layers of jokes. The biggest, besides the horrible bogan speech that is bordering on the eldritch tongue, probably being that she was an old mha rp character recycled into this, and I didnt change her personality much lmao

Sidenote, if anyone here is familiar with Nick 'the honey badger' Cummins also, then they'll see some familiar phrases cropping up along the way lol. I mean uh, Steph isn't a walking shit post, idk what you mean. Slander and lies I say!

@Remram

Jokes you, being a bogan and being broke went hand in hand!

Timid pokemon though? Surely it wasn't another Wimpod right? While she wouldn't say no persay to another one, it wasn't exactly high on her agenda to go around catching multiples of Pokemon right now. Ignore her collection of Magikarp. The learning that this lake could, in theory, contain anything that flowed out of the nearby Mt Yamir, Lake Charity and other various riverways nearby didn't help Steph narrow down what she was looking for. If only because uh...she didn't really know what was in those waters to begin with!

Oh well, she figured it wasn't much point in stressing over the details anyway. Though in saying that, she was disappointed at the possibility of it probably not being a Poliwag. She would love to catch one, who didn't like a good Poliwrath after all? There was a trend to Pokemon Steph liked for the most part yes, and it wouldn't take anyone too long to figure it out. Granted, she was also happy catching most things, so eh.

Not as disappointed when she saw the price of a good rod though! Wait, no, disappointed wasn't the right word. Disgusted? Yeah, disgusted. She would stick with the old rod for now thank you very much. Not that she had much of a choice anyway, but it was the principle of the matter. She would risk another 29 magikarp, it was uh...good exp farming? Sure, lets go with that one. And while she was aware of the 'tourist trap' that would be the price of these pedal boats, it was also really her only current option so happy enough forked over the money and ignored how ridiculous it looked for her and Freya to be using one of these.

And once she was out there in the middle, she settled as comfortably as one could in one of these 'boats' as she expected to be out here for awhile, especially if she was looking for something 'timid'. As a result she nearly fell out of the boat, metaphorically and literally, when she got a tug so soon and reeled in...was this a Basculin? She wasn't familiar with a white stripe though? Though judging by Freya's reaction to it being here, she figured she had her fish.

To which Freya could have a front row seat to Steph's newest catching technique. Truly, she had more ways to catch pokemon than anyone Freya had seen. For this time? Steph just decided since she didnt really have a Pokemon that would be good out in the middle of the lake, bar another water type in Remy or maybe Barra, then she might as well just do it herself. So she would try and pull it out of the water and wrap her arms around the decently sized fish and just attempt to wrestle it. While on the pedal boat. Nothing could possibly go wrong right?

And if it did, well Glory would have to come out and spam struggle bug or something. And if the boat tipped over and she fell in? eh she would just try to wrestle it in the water unless it got out, then the Glory plan would be in full effect. Fight a timid pokemon with a timid pokemon was plan b, but for now Plan A was just make the thing submit via a wrestle.

Stephanie Irwin

@Remram

Freya had just witnessed only the most peak of catching methods clearly. Steph's team was now an abomination of catching methods. Fishing, 'gifted', mutual respect of muscles and attempted food theft. Truly a a highlights reel for the ages already, and Steph was only on her first day. Though now with her new Machop, Bea, in tow, she unleashed Dusk upon the poor early game mons of the city. They never stood a chance. Though admittedly, the scales were evened a bit considering she was trying to use poor Barra, but she had grown almost concernedly appreciative of her little scaled splashing fish. There was just...something about him, she just thought he was neat you know? He had quickly become her favorite after Dusk.

With her level grinding done, for now, Steph now found herself in the park and whistled loudly at the sight before her. She wasn't much for visiting the city, let alone a park if she was there as she saw plenty of nature back on the farm, but even she had to appreciate the appeal of a place like this. Especially for city siders who wouldn't be particularly drawn to the more open and green fields of the countryside. Though she didn't really take much time to take in the sight, as she had things to do. She had a pokemon to fish out on the lake and a trainer school to check out after all!

"Whahtcha theenk weah lookin faw heah anywhys?" She figured Freya to be somewhat of a local to the area, at least a native of the region, so maybe she had heard of something while travelling the city. And it never hurt to strike up some small talk to give poor Freyja something else to think about considering the nonsense she had just witnessed in such a brief amount of time. If nothing else, sticking with Steph would be amusing. "If its a luyke, cahnt be nawthin too cruyzy. ineh' nao why theahs gawnna be a biieg boy thrahshin abeow' loike a Tauros in a china shawp just sweemmin round theah ya knaow? loike Oy would love ih' t' be a Horsea aw somethin, would love t' geh' a Kingdra, buh' doubt somethin loike thahts in a luyke."

It was the seahorse pokemon after all. But a girl could dream, and honestly from a logical standpoint, it could only be a handful of pokemon. But when did logic ever come into such equations anyway? At any rate, unless Steph noticed a grass type, and even then it would depend on the actual pokemon because no she isn't interested in a Petilli, or perhaps a wandering growlithe but she could wait on getting her hands on one but she would at least note they were in the area, she would make a beeline with presumably Freya in tow first towards the fishing stall where she would hopefully be able to purchase a good rod. If she cannot afford a good rod, then treat this as incoherent rambling and ignore this portion. She just wished to try and avoid fishing up Ruberts twin at this stage thank you.

Assuming 3500 was enough to get a good rod, then she would look to strike a conversation with whoever was running the pedal boat stand. She figured she would need one to get out into the middle of the lake after all. And thats where her designation was. Unless she didn't have the money to get both a good rod and to rent a boat, then she would simply go and pick a fight with one of the fishermen instead to earn some money.

Oh and she would try and overhear any nearby fishermen to see if she could hear anything or get any hints about what she might be looking for. Any information she could gather, the better. Once all these objectives were met, she would set out pretty much immediately and look to cast her line once she was out in the middle.

[TDLR; go and buy a good rod and rent a boat to get out into the middle of the lake where she would begin fishing for whatever it was she was looking for. In the event she cannot afford a good rod, ignore that portion. In the event she cannot afford a good rod and a rental boat, then she would just go pick a fight with a random fisherman. Also try and overhear any rumours about what she might be looking for out in the middle of the lake]
