Bio

My name is chocomog333. I have been roleplaying on and off for about 15 years, including both forum and tabletop styles. I have a full-time job and a family, so my posts won't be as frequent on here as they used to be, but I will try to post regularly when I can. I don't typically write huge posts, though I can most likely do a paragraph or two depending on what's going on. I prefer fantasy style roleplaying and can either do either a homebrew setting or some series settings. For series settings, I like Magic the Gathering, Pokemon, Digimon, Dragon Age, Fate/stay night, Final Fantasy (especially Ivalice), and Kingdom Hearts. I do enjoy academies set in fantasy/horror settings as well. I like romance, but I also like to keep it PG. I'm up for 1-on-1 or group rps.

Carmina and Tatia can do duets.

Absolutely!
Caius listened to Toby and nodded. “Runecasting, huh? That sounds interesting. Maybe sometime you can explain to me how that works. Seems like a particularly intriguing style of magic.” The next question was easy to answer. “My secondaries will be healing, to aid in support of others, and magical weapon infusement to disrupt spells and interrupt mages.”

As they were talking, Professor Lovette walked up to the podium. “Hey, looks like we might be starting, so we should probably pay attention.” Caius moved all of his attention to the professor. He was trying to gauge his judge. He would respect all of his professors, but that didn’t mean they were all equal. This would be especially true for history, where proper teaching would be crucial for the future relations many of the students here would have in preventing another war.

Carmina had her headphones on the whole ride into the academy. Her parents had sent her off with love. Even her personal servant said he would miss the young lady’s nightly concerts. But they all knew this would be for the best. She had a talent and perhaps the only way she would survive in the adult world would be to master that talent. To be fair, she wanted to go. She loved her home and her family, but they all knew she wanted to travel. She wanted to see the world and play the melodies of many far off lands. This was the first step in that journey.

But her lack of a voice left her a bit of an introvert, so she spent this ride like most of the ones in her past, watching the rolling landscapes go by as her headphones swept her away. It made the time go by much faster.

She arrived at the school, but wasn’t in a particular rush. She strolled around the campus, taking in the massive campus, she knew that she would have a lot to explore. She kept looking at her pocket watch, making sure she wouldn’t be late. She made it to the reception desk and signed in. She took a quick stroll around the inside of the school, locating all of the places she would need to be.

Finally, she made her way to the common room. Most of the seats were taken, so she found one of the few tables left with only another girl at it and sat down. She took a quick look at her seating partner. She was tall and her outfit was very teenage apathy, not that it bothered Carmina. Normally she would have introduced herself, but at that time, a professor took the stand and began speaking, drawing her attention from Dinah for the moment.

Seeing Professor Spire handle the situation relaxed Caius. He dropped his arms as his energy dimmed back to its baseline level. "Thank goodness." He sighed. He knew that practice was important, but unfortunately, he was afraid he was going to get more from his students than the teachers. This is the reason his family didn't trust most of the other mages and why they stayed out of the petty politics of the other families. Too many seemed absorbed by their personal issues and not enough seemed concerned about the others around them.

But, there was hope. From their brief interactions, he liked Toby. Honestly, he saw himself a lot in him. Awkward for sure, but he seemed to genuinely want to help. Caius could relate. He grabbed some of the napkins and helped clean off the table. He turned to Toby and offered his hand. "I... I know we may have had a rough introduction, but my name is Caius Velius. I'm a defense major." He turned to Jackie as well. "I... I do believe in the midst of the ruckus, I missed your name as well, miss." Luckily, the adrenaline of the moment was still coursing through him, allowing him to push out the introduction a little less awkwardly.
Caius was distracted by his pitiful attempts at conversation when he heard the yell come from across the hall. He looked up to see a well dressed young man hurl himself out of the way of the rampaging student. He had just enough time to put up a basic shock absorbing spell as Toby crashed into him. Caius rubbed his hand. He looked at his jacket and was mildly annoyed, but considering the circumstances, he decided to focus on the more important things. "My jacket will be fine. More importantly, are you ok?" As he got up, he quickly inspected the man who accidentally tackled him. He also looked to make sure Jackie wasn't injured. Seeing that they seemed ok, he looked around Toby to see if he could get a sight of the combatants. He watched as Larke moved himself out of the pin and held the sphere of ice in his hands. Caius worried that things may escalate even further, and thus prepared his energy to try and counterspell anything that got out of hand. He turned to the door and screamed, "Is there a teacher in the vicinity!?"

The year is Old Valendian 796, 90 years after the events of Final Fantasy XII. King Oreneas Solidor, grandson of Larsa and Ashe, has unified Archadia, Nabradia, and Dalmasca under his rule, renaming his empire the Holy Ydoran Empire. The Empire is at a tenuous peace with Rozzaria and the rest of Ordalia. Ivalice has adopted a system of clans, who have imperially certified Judges, that serve as civilian task forces for hire. You are a member of one of these clans.

This is a roleplay based on the Ivalice setting of Final Fantasy Tactics, XII, Tactics Advanced, Tactics A2, and Vagrant Story. The focus of the roleplay is to follow the misadventures of one of these clans as they travel through Ivalice performing missions. Unlike the games, I want this to focus more on the day to day lives of the clan members and not some sweeping journey to save the world. If we get enough people, we might mix and mingle different people into parties even though they would be in the same clan.

The available races are:
Hume
Bangaa
Viera
Nu Mou
Moogle
Seeq
Gria
Aegyl
Rev

Here are they class guides (Use the Bangaa classes for the Rev)

The map we will be using is a combination of the FFXII and FF Tactics map. I do expect some level of familiarity with the maps, which can be found online, so that you can accordingly make a background and understand the places we might go.

This will be a casual game, in both writing and pace. I expect people to be respectful and I would like to keep the game PG-13. This is meant to be a relaxed roleplay about exploring the world of Ivalice. Let me know if this sounds interesting.
Caius looked up in time to see the girl with the gas mask walk over and sit down at his table. He stared awkwardly for a moment, then looked back at his food. He thought to himself I wonder why she came over here? And it seems odd she didn't even introduce herself. He quietly fidgeted with his food for a few more moments. However, his thoughts began to nag him. Isn't this why I was sent here? To learn to communicate with people? I mean, yeah, she's intimidating, but if nothing else, I can maybe pry some information out of her if the need to defend myself ever arises. Mustering up all of the courage he had, he looked up at Jackie. He gulped, then sighed. "Uhhh..... hi. M...my name is Caius. Are you a new student here? W...what's your name?" Internally, he was upset with his introduction. Smooth. Real smooth. I guess I still have a long way to go.
The travel time from his home to the academy had give Caius plenty of time to review the pamphlets the school had sent his family. He had studied the school's layout and his schedule meticulously to be prepared for his arrival. However, even with all of his preparation, he was awed by the sheer magnitude of the school when he finally stepped foot onto the campus. He stopped for a moment, but then collected himself. There would be plenty of time to bask in the immensity of the school and explore it thoroughly later. For now, he needed to make haste to the common room. He quickly signed into the roster and was pleased the attendant seemed more interest in her other business than trying to probe into his. After collecting his paperwork, he made his way to the common room, ignoring all of the other students along the way. Upon arrival into the common room, he scouted one of the few remaining empty tables in the back and placed his belongings there, staking his claim as he went to gather breakfast. He ignored the other students as he grabbed some pancakes and sausage, quickly making his way back to his seat.

Seeing that it was still early, he began to open up his perception to the others around him. Some seemed to be loners like him, others seemed to be more social. As was expected, there were also a few troublemakers in the crowd. He sighed at such wasted potential. He was intrigued by the girl with the gasmask. She could be a wildcard. He tried to see if anybody was wearing anything that would hint at their primary magic, but most people just seemed to dress like regular teenagers.

Realizing that his interest in the human population was waning, Caius began to examine the room itself. Caius was a firm believer in purpose. People usually made choices for a reason. Usually being the operative word. The common rooms décor implied the aesthetics of the decorated deviated from such common sense. Everything just felt off. Caius wasn't fond of the disorganized and frankly frightening adornments. He hoped whoever was responsible for this wasn't going to be one of his professors. Caius decided to put it out of his mind for now. He returned to his food and paperwork, desperately hoping to be left alone until the opening ceremonies ended.
