As Norn explained everything to them, Kibas mood immediately dropped when he came to a realization. In one way or another they were about to go into a war. Which means that digital or not, REAL lives are on the line. This reminds me of when I used to play chess with pops.

Flashback 5 years ago.

A 7 year old Kiba sat across from a tall muscular man in a suit, his face covered in shadows as the two of them played chess, with Kiba commanding white and the large man black. “Hmmmm, Checkmate!!!” Kiba yelled with a goofy grin on his face as he moved his bishop to block the older man's king. Doing a little dance in celebration.

The man looked down at the bored and smiled. “Well what do you know. Your strategic mind has bested my own yet again son! It's always a proud day when a son beats a father at something. Although I was hoping you'd do this at 20 not 10.” The man said in a booming voice. “However Kiba, you could have won MUCH sooner if you hadn't done … well this.” He said motion to the board. The chess board was an anomaly. Every piece moved yet not a single one taken. “You had many chances to destroy my rooks and bishops.”

Kiba stopped dancing and frowned. “But if I did that then they'd die.” He said simply, in a ‘are you stupid?’ tone.

The older man frowned at this. “Kiba my son, in war, REAL war, pieces fall. That's just how life is. And if you ever want to do what I do then you'll just have to accept that.” He said in a dark tone.

Kiba raised an eyebrow before tilting his head. “Pops, you're not making any sense.” He said before moving the pieces around. “Okay!! Round 2!!”

“Hmph fine, but you won't beat me as easy this time!!!” The father smiled as he helped reset the board.

Flashback ends.

Kiba approaches the altar and grabs the digivice examining it. He looks down, his usual soft and kind eyes now showing a more seriousness than usual expression. "Miss Fa ... Norn, is there a way to subdue enemies without killing them (destroying the core)?" Kiba then looks back up, his usual soft smile returning. "If so then I am also in."

@RennyWell OK than. BTW I really like how u post in IC. Its a lot more immersive when I can see how ur character looks as you post. Would it be OK if I tried it out?

Also @Otaku95 I was wondering if this digital world was like the anime's where when a digimon is defeated they turn into an egg or do they just get deleted?

Kiba looked between the two in a panic. "U-um maybe we should all calm down." He said as he walked over to grab the thrown D-terminal. Now standing in between the two. "Things are a little tense right now so let's all take a breath and think of this alittle."

He took a deep breath before continuing. "All of us are in a new world that we don't know anything about, let's think about it in a positive way guys. Like how ... ummm, like how this is an opertunity in a way. A world with no rules or prior engagements. To not have anything holding us back."

Kiba stared at Robert for a split second before tilting his head in confusion.We came … through the Internet? He thought confused. Wait how DID I get hear? After thinking for a bit he finally remembered. He was … sucked into his phone while he was watching a YouTube video of a cat and a dog playing chess together, and fell asleep during the transfer.

“Hehe whoops.” He said scratching the back of his head. “Sorry. Sometimes slow on the upkeep.” He said with a chuckle, trying to hide his embarrassment. I feel like this is karma for teasing that one girl.

Kiba tried to silence himself but failed to hold his laugh back at Ryukos innocent but embarrassing statement about Reproduction. ”Ne ne, get your mind out of the gutter.” Kiba joked with a failing straight face. ”Though I think it's more like this.” he said mimicking her hand motions except with two fingers instead of one, laughing even more now.

”But joking aside I have heard of this concept before. I think there was a book on it and everything but … does that mean we’re IN a computer?” He asked Norn with his hand grabbing his chin in thought.

I'm borrowing from yet another sci-fi series for the Digimon's concept of reproduction. Basically, it's the same as the Engineers from Halo.

Btw how is evolution gonna work? is it gonna be like data squad where they can evolve through training and stuff or is it gonna be like the OG digimon where we need tags or something?
