you don't have to use it for anything. I will be using it for my own sake, because I want to. Also the spreadsheets will be made available somewhere if anyone cares to look at them. Really I only brought it up because I couldn't contain myself. Its not super important.
Its an old animu mecha rpg. The character creation needs a lot of work, but the build system for mecha creation can basically do anything you want. Okay not everything. I have no idea how you do slash harkens for example, but it is surprisingly robust for a series older than I am. The most recent version is Mekton Zeta.

Theres a discord with a bunch of the pdf's pinned and some spreadsheets to manage mech creation.
If anyone is familiar with Mekton, I will be making up all the mechs in that system. Not that I intend to turn this into a virtually ancient rpg with dice rolling, but I feel like it would be fun. Also then I can see how different models stack up against each other in less than vague terms. There are a few mechs already priced out in that system for grunt machines and to be stolen in the first mission. Of course feel free to make up your own prized machine to be stolen, but it also will not be required.
if its a space setting, expect ship to ship, colony infiltration and the possibility of extended operations on planets. Colonies in that context being as in Gundam, though planetside ones could also exist.
@Sierra

I was thinking more eastern styled, but not nearly so fast and smooth moving. also a lot smaller.

@MonkeyBusiness

Noted. One vote for space.

@Letter Bee

Don't you going worrying me with your ominous ellipses =P
Wanted to run a mecha rpg that drew a lot of inspiration from the X-Wing series of books, in that the players would be pilots, but also skilled as a ground team to accomplish missions their machines could not do alone. Suffice to say it is expected that they won't be the top of the class in either, but flexibility is the goal. So being a sniper, cqc specialist, a hacker, a medic or something else useful on the commando end would be required of the character

The mechs themselves. Should be something like 20-30 feet tall. They are relatively new to the world and as such the common ones will not be very advanced. Flight is very rare, very limited energy weapon use, transforming being basically unheard of, etc. That said. The first thing that the team will be doing is infiltrating an enemy research facility and stealing some high tech mechs that break all conventions. Don't get too attached though as your machines may not always be the best way to tackle a job or maybe you'll spend an extended period of time posing as pirates or something.

I am okay with running this in space or on earth and am willing to run the underlying politics of it all as simple, good guys, bad guys and neutral parties, or complex with a bunch of different ideologies running around.

By all means ask questions and give opinions. Not terribly much is set in stone at this point.
Well, its not shadowrun, but it will do =P
Maybe I can do advanced. Its not really what I was looking for.
Interested. So... Spitfires or Hurricanes? Not too familiar with Lovecraft, but from what I can gather that will be a benefit to my personal experience. I suppose I should catch up on WW2 era British slang.
I mean if someone comes along and makes another character I'd be on it, but I guess people aren't as interested in the idea as I thought. But yeah its probably dead and should be considered as such. Sorry for wasting your time.
