It was all Rory and Oliver's fault that they were here. Well, also Jordan's, since it was his brilliant idea to visit the asylum as a surprise birthday present for Dakota that had gone horribly wrong (when he should have just gone home instead like everyone and their mother at least commented on once). Instead of it being any sort of "fun", Rory and Oliver took it out of their schedule to startle Raven's ghost and lock them in there. Honestly, if it weren't for Officer Pratt and Bentley arriving half-drunk, they could all be dead right about now. Instead, Raven was ever determined to become whole with his other half and landed them in here. It was a good choice, honestly, and it was recommended by Ezana, so Raven knew there would be little spooks and scares along the way, but definitely some hardships. It was basically the spiritual world's equivalent of a mental illness, wasn't it? So on the day of the introduction for the NEST program, Raven did everything in his power to try to avoid it. Dakota made it much easier as he ranted on and on about the experiments that he and Rory made in the closet of their dorm, something about KFC communists plotting to take over the world and how the Wendy's empire would come out victorious in the end. Oh, and something about how Raven lacked "discipline". Raven just nodded his head absentmindedly and stared out the window. What was his obsession with fast food, anyway? What was more annoying, dealing with Dakota's incessant ranting or dealing with a few other ill individuals? Sighing, Raven was forced to make up his mind. "Dakota, we're late," he remarked with little emotion or concern. "Oh, ok," his other self sat up on the bed before getting up, "Where are we going?" "To room A3-214. Now walk quickly, we're late."
---
It only took them about six or seven minutes to arrive there, but it was mostly due to Dakota's distractions and one-track mind. When they finally arrived, the two "brothers" stepped into the room where there was a crowd of others sitting, "...Uhm.. this wouldn't happen to be for the NEST program, would it be?" Everyone in the room looked fairly normal, so there was some doubt -- was that a cat? And a doll? Was this some sort of sick mental picture out of someone's strange mind? Oh boy, this would be definitely be interesting.

It's such a nice feeling to have other people like this around~! Also, Dakota/Raven is approved, just be careful with the mind reading~.
Will do. Kind of afraid what kind of thoughts they may pick up in a place where everyone is just a little craaazy. Will get a post up after I'm done eating.
Happy Birthday to @Sharyxe && @KDPdaKing! Hope it's a great one!
I dunno if I should wait for one of you guys to throw a character up and balance you out or what. I do know that I don't expect both of my humans to end up in a relationship, so that should be a bonus, should she even end up in one.
Andi followed the boy behind the Pokemon Center. Admittedly, being in a new area was a bit of an unintentional kill-buzz to her ego and she definitely felt that she could not underestimate this boy. Especially after he sent out Honedge and Metang, she knew that most of her moves would prove to be ineffective. But it's not like he would do much better, right? "Heracross, I choose you!" She called as a Pokeball was tossed onto the center of the square, a blue beetle materializing as the Pokeball flew back and landed in her hand. "Okay, and you too, Lucario," she remarked as the blue wolf-like creature stepped forward as well. What would work on these two? Hmm. "Lucario, use Shadow Ball on the Honedge. Heracross...uhm..use Bug Bite on the Metang!" What type was a Metang again? She couldn't remember for the life of her. And with those two commands ushered, the battle was under way as the Lucario began to charge a ball of black essence followed by the Heracross flying across and attempting to swoop down and take a chunk out of the Metang. That oughta hurt.

"Not really. Was just curious," Ross responded as he watched as the girl's Pokemon run off into a nearby forest with slight interest, "Are they going to be safe out there? I've been hearing rumors about Sinnoh lately. Like Pokemon snatchers, y'know, the usual in this day and age?"
I plan to throw up two females and a male necromancer by the end of the day. Not sure how unbalanced that would make it, though.
Can we talk this over?, I haven't even finished my CS yet, thats why I put the big WIP in the top, right now your judging a half built character, Can you atleast let me finish my CS instead of just rejecting me?, let me learn atleast Try to meet up with the expectations, and then you can be Free to judge away. PS I was also planning on adding a lot of character development, I wouldn't stay a lazy gamer for the entire RP
I'd love to do that, I'm a very patient person. Unfortunately, this RP is more about quality than quantity -- generally, we can tell if someone is going to make the requirements or not, even if their character sheet is not finished. There's really not much to talk over, however, and your character is still going to be rejected, especially if you have to note outside of the sheet that there will be development or not. A person should be able to tell if a character is serious or not, in this case, none of us really can. And I'm going to be up front and honest here, your character carries some content that could be borderline offensive if portrayed incorrectly. Is that a bad trait? Not necessarily. As writers, we must be willing to tackle stereotypes and content that can be seen as offensive, otherwise, all books and stories would probably suck. However, in order to do that, we have to write in style and execute it properly. From what I'm seeing, it maaay be very difficult with the angle you're taking it from. Bottomline is that we're rejecting you, because we have seen some of your other content and your character is not up to the "quality vs. quantity" standards that this RP carries. Sorry, but we're judging you now on past content, repeating mistakes and what we've seen so far from your character that was submitted.
<Snipped quote by Cynder> More like that people try to avoid understanding each other because it requires them to admit things they're afraid to admit, like the randomness of genetics and 'but for the grace of God there go I.' A lot of people like to reassure themselves that they're normal, society prizes conformity and normalcy, and subconsciously shunning the mentally ill is part of that reassurance for a lot of them. As you no doubt know, there's a lot of shit in the subconscious, and that doesn't merely apply to people with a mental illness. (or a physical one, though people tend to be less able to bullshit their way past debilitating physical symptoms so they are forced to sympathize in a genuine fashion.) I'm not saying a perfect understanding is possible, I'm saying that human beings can generally do a lot better. ;)
Oooh, alright, makes much more sense, thank you for clarifying. And I entirely agree with what you're saying. Yeesh, it's almost terrifying how heartless modern day society can be at times.
I don't think it's cynical. I think it's something to try and keep in mind if you can. I realize it's often hard for someone to reassure themselves within their own mind -- if it were that easy, psychotherapists would be rendered unnecessary -- but for every one person speaking up, there's a bunch more that are scared of the judgment and reaction they get from others. But that's sort of the point -- people are often ships passing in the night. We can't know all of each other's struggles entirely, but usually we can grasp enough of the essentials to relate if we are inclined to. Of course, it's a good idea to remember this -- the stigma of mental illness is not how different people with mental illnesses are. It's how much of ourselves we see in people with mental illness and how we recoil from the thought of being in that situation ourselves. I'm not trying to defend something that has turned into a societal practice of treating entire groups of people terribly, but the response isn't necessarily about you, it's about their own bullshit.
Apologies, but I don't really get what you're saying. I'm probably still be tired/waking up and I apologize for that, but I think the bottomline gist of it is that it isn't a cynical mindset, but there's no way we can truly feel another's pain, right?
