Current That isekai idea works until you take into account the advanced part and include things like AI, brain machine interfaces, etc. Knowledge can just be downloaded.

Unless you love kids a little too much, then a prison sentence is what can be done about it.

and if you're doing a couple of hours bombardment... why not call for backup?/counter attack. Honestly I feel like it may be better if you had him simply flee. It raises more questions having him turn traitor.

Hmm...alright.
@ZAVAZggg did the outpost in question not have shields? I can honestly see him managing to empty the ship but to go from deserter>traitor... I mean if you're fine with that then it gives you a whole redemption arc to work through.

I'm fine with the traitor/deserter aspect. As for the outpost, assume it had shields, but not ones strong enough to withstand a barrage of turret fire from and Aurora class battleship as, while they are extremely powerful, the shields found on Ancient Outposts burn a ton of energy since they were not made for lengthy periods of use. I'd say a couple hours of constant bombardment would be all it takes to drain the power sources for the shields in question.

While I'm not fond of the solo character aspect either (what if we have a ground forces storyline for a few weeks or send in ambassadors? It sidelines the character) do you really want to play a cowardly deserter? Totally cool if your are because that takes courage but most people would feel uncomfortable doing so.

Alternatively he could have had his crew evacuate while performing a selfless, near suicidal act but survived anyways. Perhaps he was trapped in the event horizon of a black hole, experiencing time dilation for ten thousand years! Maybe it was a surprise attack by the wraith with his entire crew on shore leave being destroyed before his very eyes.

If he's sidelined then he's sidelined. I have more than ten characters whose arcs and developments I'm currently keeping track of, as well as the overall plot of a roleplay I'm running, so I don't mind having nothing to do for long stretches of time. As a matter of fact, I prefer it as it allows me to more easily get out posts.

As for the deserter part, while seen as cowardly in that draft, which I'm changing because it's really only feasible due to the plot saying so, in this newer one, when I'm finished with it, will have him be more logical than cowardly in his motivation for leaving the war despite what others may see him as. But if that fails, I will look for a way to integrate your black hole idea into the overall CS and ship history.

I mean if you wanna go with this solo thing that's fine. But I don't think the idea of shutting people out works. Maybe they had a land based base and he abandoned them? #ideas

Hmm...that might just work. Give me a moment to get it written down.
@ZAVAZggg my issue is, you're telling me noone aboard could undo his coding? Also why did he have a hidden stasis pod to begin with?

Hidden stasis pod was for the desertion plan itself. Should he be boarded, hopefully no one would find him in that room. (Crappy plan I know, but he's never done it before). As for the undoing part, there could have been, but I'd prefer to think that they couldn't break it. Mainly because my other option was for him to just lure the crew somewhere, which would have been very difficult given the sheer amount that were on-board, and jettison them out into space. Also the other issue I ran into with that was the ships interior environment and pressure, as well as any cargo it may have had. All that probably would have been sucked out into space along with the crew as the ship de-pressurized.

So that's why I went with the starvation thing.

I'm open to suggestions though as I hate half ass plans that wouldn't actually work save for when a plot requires. Like the one above.
@Sep
The complete CS! Again, I took liberties with the ships interior, as I can't find much information on the crafts entire interior layout.

What'll be more interesting IMO is obviously my guys knowing what your ship is, and you being all like, "So where are you from?"

"Oh... we're your descendants."

Oof. True. Also, I just realized that, that kind of revelation would only boost his ego.
