Seeing actual bushfire footage looks straight out of Hell... It moves so quickly and so powerfully, literally the trees just ignite. You firefighters are absolute legends, but please, don't die.

Welcome to my little personal den of Hell! Sorry, sorry, I meant my personal profile. Same thing, right?
I'm a roleplayer, same as any around here. I've been doing it for about five years now, coming up to six in September. Its been quite the time, thinking back. I started out fresh as can be, understanding the basics of writing but never quite knowing how to become better, or become as great as those around me. In the end, I did the only thing I really knew at the time:
Write as much garbage as possible and hope for the best!
As you can see, that particular tactic fucking failed. Jokes aside, I like to think I've developed a lot over the years, both as a writer and as a person. However, absolutely nothing can dissuade my weeaboo ways and supporting my OTP with all that I can freaking muster! If you haven't already guessed, said OTP is Chrom x Robin (Chrobin) from Fire Emblem: Awakening. Highly recommend the game, there's a reason (other than nintendo's cheapskate attitude) that it hasn't dropped in price, it's honestly the best place to start off in the series. And hey, maybe you'll end up addicted like me and want to buy every game on the 3DS like a fucking loony?
Speaking of loonies, the Fire Emblem Chrobin Comic Dub Project has recently finished, so for those of you who also appreciate the best ship in existence, I highly recommend it. Hell, even if you're not interested in that, I do highly recommend watching it for those into fantasy love stories. The quality improves drastically with each episode, so trust me when I say by the end of it you should be thoroughly impressed. It has helped motivate me in ways I can hardly describe with words, and so I thought the least I could do was put this out there. Maybe it's not for everyone, but I know it was the perfect thing for me.
"Do you think you can tip any of the scales in here?" "Chrom, for the love of Naga, I'm thinking..."
"So I heard."
"There are better places to take a nap than on the ground, you know."
There is a universe. No-one knows it's name, where gravity wasn't strong enough to bind matter together and no stars formed. And because no stars formed, no stars exploded. And because no stars exploded, no planets came about. And because no planets came about, there was no life.
There's another universe, no one knows it's name, where gravity was strong enough and did light the stars and planets came about and boy, they were gorgeous, planets in perpetual winter, planets in perpetual summer, planets that could rival the Garden of Eden and no bloody snakes! And on one of them, eventually, complex life evolved and one of the species developed large brains learned things like manners and dabbing, when they looked up at the stars and wonder what they were doing here. You called them octopuses, I suppose. Gosh, they were clever, for octopuses, and one of them, several million years in, almost wrote something in ink on the seafloor, a message to its friend. And the message almost read: "Hi! How are you?" And a few millennia later, space folder back on itself and, you get the idea. Goodbye Octopi.
There's another universe, where life formed on every planet, in every solar system, and it was carbon-based, it was silicon based, it was made of crystals and water and plasma, it was made of quantum fields and light, and everything was alive, everything was doing a boogie, and it was everybody's birthday, everyday, relatively, and everyone got presents, and they had over a trillion languages, some written down, some only spoken, some conducted telepathically, and they bought a galactic civilization together, as a perfect unity, sharing stories, sharing technology, speaking a common tongue, understanding everything about how the cosmos been put together. And finally, when everything was sorted, the galaxies were arranged into perfect geometric formations, transmitting pure love, and wisdom, and birthday greetings to all species in the universe, for all time. Papercuts never happened, coke came in glass bottles, no one even remembered the word for war, everything was beautiful and nothing hurt.
And yet, for a quirk in their evolution, because resources weren't scarce enough on the planets these species developed on, not a single creature in the universe was conscious. Food was eaten and no-one enjoyed it. Movies were released, and there was no laughing, or crying. No-one chuckled at a joke. Ever. Space collapsed back on itself, eventually, and there hadn't been a single moment of sentience in the entire history of creation.
There's another universe, where the strong force is too strong the weak force is too weak and nothing forms. Another, where life develops too late when the Stars have all gone beyond the light boundary and there's nothing to even see. Another with too many dimensions. Another with not enough. Another where time goes in the opposite direction, and species begin as gods, and wind backwards to cells, and never learn to survive. Another that only lasts milliseconds, and collapses in on itself, and heads straight back to oblivion. And that's how it just might be, across all possible universes, across all possible space times. Problems with the laws of nature, not enough resources, missteps in evolution. An atlas of dead-ends.
Then again, there is one exception.
There's another universe, a big one, where life is rare, where intelligent life is very rare indeed, the stars are very distant from each other, the laws of nature are very complex, it's extremely lonely for any species developing, and most never even develop at all, but somewhere, we believe, is a planet where the oceans are vast, and the climate is varied. Where the smartest species on the planet may have developed just the right mix of ambition and kindness. And if you were to travel there, to this unbelievably rare statistical anomaly, to this impossibly lucky planet, where evolution, biology, chemistry, nae, the laws of physics themselves have come together to create sentient intelligent life, you may be able to catch the native inhabitants singing for joy. Of what an impossibly lucky, and rare position they find themselves in. It is a chant of gratitude, a ritual of showing appreciation for ending up in perhaps the one universe, in the one solar system, on the one planet with all the basic ingredients for intelligent, conscious life.
"Sooooooo this is the big city everyone on the outside has been talkin' about, huh? Damn... You guys have a nice place 'ere."
<Name:/>
Markus Jones
<Nickname(s):/>
"Mark", "Outsider", "Old Hobo" (among the homeless kids), "Mister Jones"
<Gender:/>
Male
<Age:/>
34
<Occupation:/> Does homeless man count? Markus is still trying to work out just how the city works, or at the very least is playing stupid. Either way, he just does odd jobs to help himself get by.
<District:/> 17
<Height:/> 6'1 <Weight:/> 93kg
<Personality:/> Markus is very... curious. As a man who claims to have come from beyond the walls, he likes to tell grand tales of adventure, and is generally fun to be around. He likes seeing others smile, laugh, become intrigued, or other such emotions, and is quite the supportive individual, very much like a caring big brother. He's a man who believes in freedom, which has lead to some altercations with the local police force, namely within the first few weeks of arriving at New Ancora. However, he managed to get away on a clean slate, considering he was apparently unaware of the concept of 'stealing', or just crime in general for that matter.
He's simply fascinated with the technologies of New Ancora, and acts much like an enthusiastic child when he encounters something new. Oftentimes, he'll create equally simple and childish nicknames for the device, rather than using the proper name. Despite this, the man is actually quite wise, or so he tries to be, since he's the only person from the outside to make it in, as far as he knows. His very being radiates experience and wonder, very much like an old man or woman whom has lived a fulfilling life, and his eyes gleam with this certain sense of brightness and life that could only be found in those who are pure of heart.
The question is, can he remain pure in New Ancora?
<Biography:/>
Not an awful lot of history to Markus. At least, not a lot of verified history. He sort of just... showed up one day, without a trace. He claims to have come from "The Outside". Nobody really knows for sure if he's actually from the outside, but he claims to be, and tells many vivid stories about it.
He made his first appearance by fixing a whole bunch of random 'garbage' in the outer districts of New Ancora, essentially turning scrap metal into useful tools and goods that he gave away to a bunch of random people. After this, the man mysteriously disappeared for about a month; even the shady alleyway guys couldn't find him. His second appearance was at a medical clinic for the homeless, where he proceeded to patch up a bunch of patients with methods and tools from the 21st century, and even performing an amputation for a cybernetic (which was very difficult to pull off due to his sheer fascination with the arm and tools provided). Yet once again, he disappeared into thin air, only to come back a third time a week later being caught stealing from a bunch of shopkeepers, though gave them back the stolen goods when he learned this was 'wrong'.
After this third appearance, Markus began appearing more and more, until eventually, he found himself living in the outer districts of New Ancora. Among the less fortunate citizens, he was known as the kind man who would do anything for free, at the least asking for a nice place to sleep or a simple meal to keep him going. Anyone he met would be greeted with a smile and a kind soul - everyone was given a chance to prove themselves as kind, and Markus was more than willing to give people a second chance. He had a few bad run-ins with the law even after he was established, being mistaken for a prankster or criminal playing dumb, yet even the most intense interrogators could only find sincerity in his words as he spoke of coming from the outside.
And that worried some people.
But Markus didn't really care, nor did he have time to care. He'd already gone when the police department was asked to question him about his method of entering New Ancora. But this time, it wasn't to disappear, or to help the people of the district. No, this was a personal goal of his that he had only just recently found. He'd already learned that New Ancorda had a variety of districts, and he knew that he was already in District 17. His goal was to make it further within the Districts, step by step, level by level, until finally he could maybe, possibly, hopefully reach the ultimate destination: District 0. He was drawn to that place somehow. Every time he heard about it, his curiosity would skyrocket. He just had to know what lay within.
And so, Markus begins his journey, headed from the 17th District to the 16th, hoping to help anyone he can along the way.
<Other:/>Markus's Theme; Oddly, Markus is very skilled in tinkering with modern day technologies, despite most of his knowledge relating to the 21st century. Additionally, he is fairly skilled when it comes to medical practices from the 21st century, and wishes to learn more about medicines and whatnot of 2118.
"I've become tied to this world, somehow. I don't exactly know why, but I think I know what I need to do. That is, I need to stop this from happening to anyone else... the right way." ~ Shurui Seishin
Name: Shurui "Suru" Seishin
Race: Yurei - a ghost. Well, more like a skeleton with "ghost skin".
Age: 152
Gender: Cis-white male
Skills:
Tracker - Being a former member of the police force, Shurui has a remarkable talent for tracking people down, both Spirits and human alike. From following tracks to getting information from people, if it involves finding someone, he can probably get it. This ability has made him quite useful in the eyes of the guild, which he would rather not have. Regardless, he's good at finding or tracking people.
People Skills - Shurui has met people of all kinds for the duration of his life and un-life. Thus, he has a lot of experience with all kinds of people. Picking up on things such as lies, hidden messages and guessing what their train of thought is - Shurei has an incredible ability to... understand people. One might call it charisma, though given his personality, it isn't likely.
Agility - You'd think after death your body would be less nimble, however in the case of our Yurei friend, it's quite the opposite. As a ninja, Shurui has learned how to use his unique body to his advantage. With just a skeleton, Shurui is able to move faster than most, and, when coupled with his reaction time, it's all the more evident. Additionally, some enemies might find their sword simply going straight through him due to him being just a skeleton. He's developed his own fighting style around it, unique to people with similar "conditions" to him. Of course, that means they're very few in number. Regardless, his overall speed and agility is very impressive.
Lightweight Blades - Because Shurui is just a skeleton, he can't exactly do much heavy lifting. His strength equates roughly to that of a regular teenage girl, as some of the guild members so kindly seem to emphasize. Yet, even if he can't use heavy weapons, he's still incredibly adept with smaller, more nimble weapons, such as daggers, knives, and so-on. He's mostly known for using two knives to almost effortlessly slash and slice small cuts upon his enemies, slowly but effectively killing them.
Accuracy - As though these weren't enough, our police ninja friend is also incredibly accurate, and has an almost supernatural eyesight. This is probably his most useful asset, and can do well with all the above skills. Also, have you ever seen a man catch a firefly with a throwing star?
Zombification - Lastly, we have the signature undead ability of odd regeneration. In Shurei's case, if he loses a body part in combat, he has to find the lost part/s and "glue" them back together with a special formula created by one of the member of the guild. Of course, doing this in combat is impossible since it takes time for the glue to set, and it can only be done at the guild.
Powers:
Light Telekinesis - Shurui can lift light objects off the ground and move them through the air through the use of kinetic magic. Of course, his powers aren't all that strong, since he doesn't quite have as much "presence" as he used to when living, however he can still move things roughly the weight of a kunai and lighter. Of course, he often uses in battle, though mostly it's used because he's lazy.
Unknown Magic - This is something Shurui has only just recently come to learn, however he has managed through his telekinesis to manipulate his spirit to create some kind of... energy. Now he hasn't gotten this energy to a sufficient level of mastery yet, and using even a little bit of it often leaves him on his knees exhausted, however he hopes in future he can master it. Though, the fact that it's only left a light burn on wood at best isn't exactly getting his hopes up...
Weapons/Equipment:
Daggers x2 - Kept within his forearms for easy access, Shurui has two sharp, lightweight and deadly knives that remain as his primary weapons when engaging in combat. Coupled with his speed, these are often the most deadly...
Kunai x8/Shuriken x4 - Of course, he can't always rely on those little daggers to do everything, and so he has eight kunai and four shuriken located in various places in his body. Due to him being a skeleton, he can basically access at least one of these kunai/shuriken almost anytime.
One-handed Sword - This sword usually stays on his back, however sometimes you need a sword to deal with things. It's a short, thin blade that's almost as sharp as his daggers. Shurei requires two hands to effectively wield it, however even so he still retains quite a bit of nimbleness when using it.
Crossbow - The final weapon in his arsenal of weapons: a crossbow. This weapon comes with ten bolts and one roped bolt (a bolt that has a rope attached - for climbing), and is often used when Shurei doesn't want to get too close and doesn't want to be detected in combat, however it still works quite well when facing an aware opponent. The only trouble is reloading the crossbow can't be done in combat because of the tight drawstring. That crossbow has caused lots of arm parts to go missing... well, before being re-found and re-attached, that is.
Disadvantages:
Weakness To Magic - All types of magic are dangerously effective against Shurei, and he tries to keep as far away from enemy casters as possible. Seriously, even some of the basic forms of magic can almost kill him due to his fragile state. Therefore, if he were pitted against a powerful mage... he'd be screwed.
Weakness To Big Weapons - Now Shurei has learned how to dodge enemy attacks rather well, which has allowed him to survive quite well. However, one hit from something as simple as a large katana can do some major damage. Though he won't exactly "die", he won't be able to do anything if he lost his skeleton. All it would take is one good stomp on his skull to wipe him from the physical world...
Lack of Senses - Though most would consider this to be a good thing, it really isn't in Shurei's case. He no longer has a sense of touch, smell, and taste. In response to this, his hearing, sight and sixth sense have developed further, however they don't exactly help when you lose both your arms without even realising it.
Psyche - Though not as prominent as the other weaknesses, Shurei is still vulnerable to mental attack. Though he doesn't suffer from anything really serious, if he spots a woman who looks like his now dead wife, it triggers something of a weak panic attack. Mental trauma is a serious problem.
Bio: A long time ago, in an age since past, there lived a man. This man was a warrior - an enforcer of the law; he was a well-respected and well-loved policeman. He would catch both human and spirit criminals alike, and was known well throughout the quaint little mountain town in which he and his newlywed wife lived. Things were progressing well: he'd just been promoted, and he and his wife were talking about the possibility of a child. His life, up until now, was filled with rather innocent adventure. This policeman had rarely seen gore in his life!
And that's why he was so appalled when he saw the brutally disfigured carcass of...
... himself.
This man had been killed by an angry Spirit. Yet, he was still alive! Somewhat, that is. You see, this man had become a Yurei - a ghost. He wasn't quite sure why, however for some reason, something was holding him back to the physical world - something was stopping him from going to the afterlife with his wife. Something was holding him back, and it took him many years to figure out just what it could be, exactly. He researched a multitude of sources, trying to figure out just how it would happen.
And then he figured it out. "If I want to move on, I need to make sure others don't get put into the same position as I did..." That 'position' would be the hunt that had been initiated unto this man. Humans don't exactly take kindly to Spirits in plain sight, and when you walk around as a skeleton in dark clothes, well... it's hard to convince people otherwise. And so, whilst on the run, our friend tried to protect as many Spirits as he could identify, however... he couldn't quite swing a sword like he used to. Hell, the man could barely pick one up to start with! He quickly made sense of the situation: lives would be lost if he couldn't learn to fight with his new... 'condition'.
Thus, he turned to the outcasts of Spirit society for a tutor, or someone who could better his strength. Surprisingly, it was a Yurei like him who taught him the ways of the ninja. Though he despised it at first, since he was a samurai for the law, the man soon began to appreciate all the wise Spirit was teaching him. He learned many things from the yurei, however there came a time where the man simply couldn't find the old spirit. The ghost had left, though whether it was because he had completed his reason for living, or because the spirit itself was too old, the man didn't know. However, with these new found skills, the man soon began protecting people again - Spirit and human alike. All the while he was still avoiding authorities.
Time passed on, and as it did, the man's experience grew. He learned how to better himself in both combat and simple socialising, and developed a kind-hearted yet somewhat mysterious persona as time progressed. Though eventually there came a time where mysteriousness and keeping to the shadows wasn't needed. The Brand made the man human again, at least mostly; and opposite effect in comparison to all other spirits. His 'crimes' of being a Spirit were redacted, and the man no longer had to hide from people.
And pretty soon, the Guild came along, too.
It was a place that suited his ideals perfectly. He found himself becoming a member within it's relatively early stages, completing jobs generally for the sake of others. His selfless attitude and ability to complete many quests without resorting to violence has earned him the title of "Kindred Spirit" amongst some of the guild members. Though, he is still quite formidable in combat, due to his ninja training. The man continues working hard to this day for the guild, simply doing his best for everyone else. As you might've guessed, this man's name is:

Speaking of loonies, the Fire Emblem Chrobin Comic Dub Project has recently finished, so for those of you who also appreciate the best ship in existence, I highly recommend it.
Another where time goes in the opposite direction, and species begin as gods, and wind backwards to cells, and never learn
to survive.

Sorry, sorry, I meant my personal profile. Same thing, right?

I'm a roleplayer, same as any around here. I've been doing it for about five years now, coming up to six in September. Its been quite the time, thinking back.
