I'll happily take red. Grew up with the series so it's time to get in the seat! But more on the planning here since, you know, this is the idea exchange, do we have a consensus on what we're doing as far as plot? Are we leaning or are we going for a more original take? I prefer the latter but I'm fine with either, and it's also not my RP so I won't say what NEEDS to happen and what doesn't.
As far as the Mighty Morphin' goes, and feel free to give me an Agent Gibbs smack upside my head if already covered, but we're sticking with straight Zordon Era concepts, right? So no Mega Battle mode, no Battleizer, and no special Rangers (other than White and Green of course)?

Yeah as far as I am thought process wise I'm not gonna be introducing things like super modes, mega modes, battlizers, or anything else. Even our "special rangers" are only special because of how they will be introduced. Through training and building experience each ranger will have a time to shine equally. If a character for example slacks off or doesn't keep up with the team in one area it's more than likely they will either fall behind or make up for that in another way.
Right now, plotwise it's as we have on the thread. Shortened though: -Find ship. -Awaken zordon jr. -bad guys are coming -trying to release Rita and Zedd -teens wanna fight or not? (Choices and battle power will effect outcome) Speaking of I'm thinking of using goldar as a first villain with a small putty force since he is pretty tough all else considered. @SoleAccord Thoughts? -monsters, shenanigans, some seriousness and after.

Okay, in the show I think the five were chosen because they were grouped at random. A field trip is viable, and it could even be related to archaeology or something involving earth science, studying geological related whatever-the-hell somewhere outside of Angel Grove. I don't know about camping trips in the middle of the desert though. It would rely on everyone happening to be friends at the time, rather than just classmates, and let me just say that I don't think everyone will click at the start. That's not always realistic. But, yeah, a trip of some kind and these five are grouped.
I agree on the ship and powering it up, but the group must have gotten really far from the rest of the class to stumble into it like they did. I also agree with you on how things progress from there, with just a couple more questions.
1. Is Zordon alive and located on Earth, or imprisoned somewhere unknown? If he died, he wiped out all evil in the known galaxy at the time, so I think it's because of that that Rita and Zedd only wanted him imprisoned rather than killed. You can always retcon that bit of course.
2. Is this a continuity where previous Power Rangers did exist already, or is this the first group of rangers to appear on Earth? If so, that opens up the probability of Power Rangers existing outside of Earth, like the Space Rangers.
I'll do the Black Ranger instead of Yellow, since there's been no interest as of yet. I'll work on a template when I can.
Yeah obviously I'm being somewhat, iffy one certain aspects. I figured there could be a reason to go to a desert, but it doesn't have to be a desert. Like if it was a camping trip or something it could be woods or a forest of sorts. Also they don't all have to be friends. Maybe one or two are being dragged along by the rest of the group so nobody gets in trouble. Idk, these little story bits are things that we would need to fiure out as a group once we're together.
Now to answer: 1) Zordon was most likely imprisoned or sealed away along with Rita and Zedd remaining locked away seemingly forever. They couldn't kill him for fear of purification. So it's mostly like a never ending struggle in nothingness.
2) I'm gonna say it'll be the first group to appear on Earth. However, there have been others. Like Zordon probably had an elite group, his son might have been one before, or at least in line to be one before the final battle which led to Rita and Zedd's defeat. Lamenting the loss and in battle with a few pursuing fleet this previous group of rangers and Zordon's son probably sustained damage to their ship. Fearing their end they likely put Zordon's son into stasis. They crash landed on a much younger Earth. Eventually they would die, but one robot on board, Alpha-5 would do it's best to keep the things running at least long enough to keep Zordon's son alive, even if in stasis until help could arrive.
Help never came, and eventually Alpha power down. Auxiliary power on the ship would keep the stasis going, basically it was like a computer in sleep mode, which would be why it's so easy to reactive. So the "original" rangers died. And maybe there have been others in space or across the galaxy to access the morphing grid, but none on earth as of yet.
And okay, so Black, Blue and Pink are taken.
Zordon's Son will be white, but I'll wait for a while before I introduce that. Still coming up with a reason.
Lord Zedd and Queen Rita had the Green power coin so who knows when that'll come into play.
Given everything I've written here, if I were to make it a bit more coherent, I could get started on an OOC sometime over the next couple of days. School and work and all that so don't expect it right away you know? lol

Okay, so we stumble upon Zordon or his child somehow, rather than Zordon being notified of Rita's escape from the dumpster, and he chooses us based on coincidence? Do we choose to defend others rather than free from a putty attack of some kind? Etc, etc. I got ideas, just need to know what you may be looking for. I don't really like destiny as a plot device.
This is usually why I ask for input in the Interest Check. When people ask me questions it usually helps me in my thought process and decision making because I don't always ask myself the right questions.
So here we go. I don't like using Destiny as a plot device. So here's my idea, basically what'll appear in my opening post for story purposes.
By sheer coincidence the group that will become the power rangers are out and about and somehow find what is basically an ancient alien spaceship. It's been dormant for about 10,000 years. Probably hidden in a mountain, or something, if it's in the desert like in the show, it could have just been buried. Like deep. But why would they be in the desert? So I figure, a camping trip or something, maybe school based. They separate from the group and whilst fucking around they end up at the ship. Instead of leaving, let's check it out more. Bust in cause obviously ship doors are all types of fucked up. But the real stuff doesn't go down until somebody accidentally powers it up. Or purposely, maybe they were deliberately trying to do that because why not? They're teens. They do that shit.
Anyway, while power it up, they a small group of Zedd/Rita loyalists pick up a signal from the ship. this ship houses the key to free their masters and continue their conquest of the universe, which was thwarted by (deciding on the child of Zordon now) Zordon Jr.'s father. Obviously he's gonna get his own name. But while everything going down, he wakes up, probably kicks them out or at least tries before he is alerted of the approaching enemy. Way it's going, I figure it's a choice. They can say they'll help, try to run or whatever. What each character decides will effect how the first battle goes.
And from their, we either continue to try and stop Zedd and Rita's release, most likely we'll fail, or they get released and we push them back while they're in a weakened state.
I figured it could be a sort of added layer of armor or something. Cause it's like all the rangers are normal sized and then there is him XD I just thought that using one artist rendition for the designs and then another for one ranger would be blah.
High school, junior/senior, angel grove.
Edit: that felt a bit abrupt. I figure they should be about the same age, or close. College/more adult might make it more different to train, they might not have as much time.
With the age I chose there is a bit going on in their lives but not so much that they couldn't adapt. They aren't too young that have more leniency with parental and what not, Burbank not so much that they can do whatever they want.
Everybody wants to be special. I want to make it a point to showcase that each ranger is special and has something to offer that maybe the others can't. First and foremost we're a team. If one stands apart from the rest too much, or can handle everything alone what is the point of a team in the first place.
So I can't stress that point enough. Each ranger will have a time to stand out and each ranger will have a time where they probably don't measure up.
And yeah I figured making green ranger evil first would be the way to go because well, it just feels right.
And I'm most likely going with Rita first, moving up to Zedd Or maybe just kick it off with both of them. king and queen of destruction on the move, planning, acting quietly from their ivory tower.
That was quicker interest than I expected. I'm hoping to go for a kind of mix. I don't want it too silly as I think there is a lot of potential for good story telling, proper character development and serious tones. But I don't want to grit it up to the hollywood level where everyone is batman, and all is dark and bleed and characters are basically all the same.
If that makes any sense... I mean let's make it mostly fun but still add te seriousness. Some throw away monsters and funny situations but also more threatening monsters and blah blah blah. also feel free to reserve. I have a friend who request blue so he is off. Also I'm leaning towards zordon being more behind the scenes and probably white or green so all the other ranger spots, red, black pink (since someone asked for yellow) are taken basically. Hell I might use green AND white so if I use white for zordon/kid zordon or whatever, then green is also usable.
Also all rangers are more or less equal, although some may have advantages over others. Like maybe they're all strong, but black had a strength advantage. All fast but such and such has a speed advantage. Maybe add in a special ability here and there. Idk, for sure but there we go.

Fueled by my hype, and childhood nostalgia, some great fan art and having started up with the comics, I'm here to propose an idea. I'm willing to work shop it, but basically, let's take the idea of a slightly modernized power rangers. Back to the beginning with MMPR, alter the lore a bit and see what we get. Obviously, you don't need to use the pre-established characters. There will be some, like Alpha, Rita, Goldar(maybe) and a mess of monsters. Maybe I'm getting ahead of myself here.
Here's a small prompt: For years, centuries, he has slept. Untouched by time he remained trapped. A war long forgotten, A family lost, a world to protect, a former foe returning once more to continue an age old conquest. Now, awoken by a group of Earthlings he must rise to finish the mission left to him by his father.
That's a very very basic and general idea. Overall I'm still sketchy on some points myself. But honestly, I figured I could feature a young Zordon, or perhaps the child of Zordon as a ranger, probably red or white. A leader for the group who more or less would know what he's doing. Of course, he'd need to blend into human society, something he would probably know little about in the modern world. Use Alpha as tech support, help with setting simulations for training, and figuring stuff out as we go along. You know, basic stuff.
Obviously I'm open to suggestions and this idea itself is a work in progress. I don't even know if i'll utilize the green or white ranger power so I'm gonna hold onto Zordon being Red for now...
I figure I should also put this stuff here. Soooooo... What I would like: -a small-ish group. 5 or 6 people. -about a paragraph or so per post. -I'm not even gonna ask for a post a day. But if you join, stick with it please. It'll only die if we let it. -Contribute to the story and have fun.
