Current Remember, nobody actually enjoys roleplaying if there isn't at least five shameful fetishes uncovered by the 2nd page.

Let's be honest, it's far more satisfying and challenging to actually imagine what a character looks like than paste a hundred gifs of a celebrity and call it good.

So, a team of players who are good at playing as a team in a team-based game are individually bad players. Seems kind of silly when you put it like that, no?

My goal these days is to have an RP that can actually finish, or the very least, last a few years. I see way too many die on page one to take chances

I just made a Stormcloak character. What can I say, I enjoy their aesthetic more than the Empire and they were my army during the first play through.

No, I saw that. I'm telling you what I think. But you're implying - or at least it seems like - that their actions were loosely justified because of the Russian ethnic majority and Crimea's short history as part of Ukraine. That logic is flawed, to say the least.I don't think you're in support of their actions though. It just seemed like you were trying to defend their actions a bit there.

I probably phrased it poorly. I know they're violating international law and I believe they need to be held accountable for their actions, I'm just saying I can recognize their justifications, even though I disagree with them. I certainly would never try to defend any nation claiming territory belonging to another.

Russia annexed ukraine, so it's too late tore claim it. If they wanted to keep it they should have just kept it

...You do realize it wasn't all of Ukraine, right? Just that little peninsula at the bottom?

@Dervish: Nope.Still think Russia was wrong in invading. Still think the referendum was illegal.Crimea was part of Ukraine. It doesn't matter if it's only been a few decades, of if half of its citizens were ethnic Russians. Crimea was, at that point in time, rightly Ukrainian.

Juuuuust in case you missed it, 'cause you seem to think I don't recognize that Russia's invading another country and claiming a portion of its sovereign territory as its own.
So!

I was off to fuel my body with the barely processed gruel that is laced with addictive substances that are usually purchased on sketchy intercity street corners (talking about McDonalds, here), and as I was backing out of the back of my apartment into the rear alley way, I noticed something was amiss with my garbage bin, namely it was overflowing with non-bagged crap consisting of everything from a pillow, a dry erase board, a shitload of rotten fruit, meat, and some kind of pale orange/brown goo that had the same consistency as apple sauce, a throw cushion, and a bunch other shit, including an unsigned kid's birthday card (so loving), and exactly what I hoped to find:

Two letters with their names and addresses on it.

One was an unpaid phone bill notification, and the other was the dentist saying they were cancelling their scheduled appointment with them because they failed to show for the last few and owed them about $266 dollars in unpaid dues, if you were curious.

So, noticing that my two next door neighbour's bins are also filled with random shit, I let them know and gave them the name and address of these people and I decided to do what any grown adult would do in this situation; I loaded my bin in the back of my truck, drove to the back alley of the address, and dumped it all off in front of their jacked up rig rocket (for the uninitiated, rig rocket is a slang term for the jacked up domestic pickup trucks with the lift kits and mud tires that you see out in oil country that are usually all owned by oil workers) and left one of the letters I found in their trash in their front door with the words "oink, oink fucker" hastily scribbled on it with a pen that barely worked.

Given the nature of the letters I found and the fact that they somehow dumped 3 overflowing bins worth of non-bagged garbage into people's bins literally 2 streets away kind of gives me the impression that they may not accept the fact that they did anything wrong and that their disgusting pigsty is returned back to its loving home may be taken as a slight that they did not deserve.

Keep it classy, Drayton.

This gif has never been more appropriate.

In other news, my Big Mac was delicious and probably shortened my life span by 5 years. Mmmm.

Ahem... *points to Ukraine*

Crimea is heavily ethnic Russian, seeing as it was given to Ukraine in the early 1950s by Khrushchev when the USSR was having its hay day. While I don't exactly agree with Russia invading another nation's sovereign territory and setting up a speedy and probably fixed referendum, their justifications aren't entirely unfounded. When Russia started sending troops into Crimea, Ukraine was still in a huge upheaval with really violent protests, so saying they were protecting ethnic Russians kind of makes sense (I'm almost certain this isn't why they did it, but as far as political posturing goes, it can at least be argued, unlike say North Korea accusing South Korea is provoking them into taking violent action for every little thing) and it was territory that was Russian up until the Soviets handed it over. I'm sure a lot of Russians probably weren't and aren't happy about that.

It would be kind of similar if Italy gave Sicily to Spain 60 years ago (let's just assume the European Union was structured in a similar manner to the USSR and the Eastern Bloc for a moment and existed, for that matter) and Italy moved troops to reclaim it if the ethnic Basque population started a widespread violent protests in Spain. Does that help put it into perspective? I'm not saying I agree with what Russia's doing and I dislike their government something fierce, but the point I'm making is that pulling the Ukraine card in Goldy's hypothesized Russian invasion of Canada is rather unwarranted for the example given. It's like comparing apples and depleted uranium rods.

recently got excommunicated for saying that's just a ploy to sell hurricane insurance.

When we keep getting record breaking storms, unseasonable storms (winter hurricane weather ftw!), and severe natural disasters on a more common frequency, I think that's a pretty good indication that things are changing from what it's been for a long, long time. As I said in an earlier post, the Earth's going through its cycles, while human activity isn't exactly helping, but I wouldn't say it's the only cause of the climate change.

I mean, shit. If we were heading into an ice age, people would still find a way to blame humans for being responsible, while others would deny it's happening. It is what it is, but regardless of what you do or don't believe, everyone should be able to agree finding more sustainable solutions to environmental concerns can only benefit everyone as a whole. I'd rather not have to worry about contaminated water from improperly disposed of/ treated sewage, miniature mountain ranges of landfills, bio-accumulated toxins in the food I eat, and having to carry around a dust mask/ respirator due to excessive air pollution, and so on. I mean, sure it's not as dramatic for the media to look at as melting ice caps or crazy weather patterns, but it's pretty serious stuff that we should at least all agree that we need to do a better job at managing, given the staggering numbers of people in the world and the individual demands of that pollution on our natural resources.

As for things being a ploy to sell hurricane insurance, the way I look at it is if you live somewhere that is at risk of hurricanes, probably wouldn't hurt. If not, don't worry about it. Sadly, a lot of people probably buy into alarmist things pretty readily... I just remembered that Family Guy episode with the cloud insurance.

Well even if earth itself survives humans won't, which is the point I'm trying to get at. Environmentalism is actually a more important issue than many people think.

Environmental health is an issue I'm very much well-versed on. I'm an environmental technology major. My current career is a reflection of that.

"Human nature" is a social construct, but that's a discussion that is entirely irrelevant to the OP. So back to the OP, which I am yet to actually comment on... Yes, corporations should be held responsible for their pollution. Many don't seem to realize it, but if we continue at this rate we will only have about a few decades before Earth is no longer able to sustain life. I'm more and more convinced that humanity itself will bring about its own extinction.

More than a few decades, but weather patterns are getting worse. It's a combination of human activity and Earth's natural cycles that are causing it. Try as we might, anything short of completely nuking the planet entirely won't be a world-ending event. While it's possible we could kill off humanity, Earth will survive. It's been through worse extinction events than runaway pollution.
