Current Remember, nobody actually enjoys roleplaying if there isn't at least five shameful fetishes uncovered by the 2nd page.

Let's be honest, it's far more satisfying and challenging to actually imagine what a character looks like than paste a hundred gifs of a celebrity and call it good.

So, a team of players who are good at playing as a team in a team-based game are individually bad players. Seems kind of silly when you put it like that, no?

My goal these days is to have an RP that can actually finish, or the very least, last a few years. I see way too many die on page one to take chances

I have nothing against High Casual, but none of the ones I can find right now appeal to me.

it happens, things kind of go in cycles around here. Sometimes there's more games that you're interested in than you can join, other times you're bored witless hoping for something interesting to come along. Maybe give GMing a shot?

You mess with my Pony Goddess wife, I mess with you!!!

I am 90% sure Nat's a guy, despite his My Little Pony claim to the contrary. Good thing same sex marriage is legal in a few states now, eh?

Also, Broby, don't be a dink. Nobody's done anything banworthy, even if a lot of it's annoying. There's no rules being broken, and they aren't attacking anybody. Hell, Mtntopview's gotten like 150% better than he was back in the Oldguild Spam.

While they haven't done anything to slight anyone in particular, you're singling them out because you don't like them in hopes they are removed from your little hangout spot. Technically, you're more of in a position to get Spam-banned than any of them are because of that.

It's a friggin' internet community, it's like high school. There's going to be cliques and people you like and don't like. You don't get the obnoxious guy who keeps making outbursts in class expelled because you don't like it. You put up with it and quietly hope that they cross a line. Until then, who gives a shit? Live and let live.

True true and I guess if I did put them on, the jury could be like "Well he was obviously out for BLOOD!"

That's... actually a pretty reasonable point I didn't consider. It could be argued that if you took the time to put on hearing protection, you had the intention to shoot, regardless. Interesting.

Yes, that reminds me we should probably get back to the original topic. I agree with you Kho that we should have a debate about it, and learn from it but it is not the original question, if you guys want to talk about wether God exists or not (he doesn't FYI) then go make another thread, but this is not the place for it

Just because you think so doesn't make it true, nor does it make it false. A while back, people used to think that the Earth was flat and the Sun revolved around the Earth, and anyone who thought otherwise was seen as a wishful idiot. Point is, there's no way of knowing one way or another to make a definitive statement, and there's a lot of things science can't quite answer, namely what came before the Big Bang or why does the universe even exist in the first place. There's a lot we don't know, and if people wish to subscribe to faith, let them. It doesn't make them ignorant or unintelligent, especially since a lot of scientists are openly religious, and they're a hell of a lot more intelligent than you or I. The whole point of having faith is just that; you don't have to have a math equation to prove something exists in your heart and soul. The only time it becomes a problem is when people use faith as a crutch to hate other people for what they believe, which not paradoxically is exactly what a lot of hardliner atheists do.

Let's put this in another light, you believe in a communist political system that historically has no precedence of success or feasibility given human nature and how there's several factors working against it ever happening as it was intended. You have faith it could work and would be best for humanity moving forward, without any solid evidence it would ever work out or even be practical. Is that not similar to a religious person having faith that there's a God, even though there's no concrete, measurable evidence of there being a God?

So cut the inflammatory rhetoric because it's not doing you any favours. The key to having intelligent discussion with people is to respect that their perspectives will differ from yours. The world isn't black and white.
I don't have to watch the video to have a general idea of all the awful crap people tend to do to animals. I don't think anyone's in favour of animal cruelty, and probably wouldn't object to there being punishment for people participating in particularly inhumane treatment of animals (finning of sharks immediately comes to mind, or the entirety of the ivory trade), but our civilization pretty much can't sustain itself without using animals in some capacity, for all the reasons you mentioned and more. It's not necessarily a bad thing, so long as people respect the animals they're harvesting/ using for domestic purposes.

Actually, one of the reasons I find Dishonored's setting uncomfortable is the whole harvesting whales and skinning them alive for their oil that seems to power their entire energy industry. For some reason, that bothers me more than like 98% of stuff I've seen in entertainment media.

But honestly, none of the cruelty really surprises me. We kind of have a long history of being colossal douchebags to one another and the natural world. I mean we used to fling diseased corpses over castle walls to sicken besieged cities and castles and slaughter entire towns because they happened to be born under the rule of the wrong King.

I really want to try advanced, but it's way too slow, my posts seldom exceed three paragraphs, and Just reading through the first post on the OC can be like getting hit by a brick wall of exposition.

I know people tend to hate the term, but try looking for something with a High Casual tag in the description. It's pretty much Advanced, but with a larger player pool and they usually don't expect you to do more than a couple paragraphs.

I feel the same with my shotguns. It has always made me think if I should wear my ear defenders whilst in that situation. They would limit my hearing but would make firing the shotgun a lot more comfortable ....

Ideally, you wouldn't have to shoot at all. I'd rather be able to hear clearly leading up to a potential confrontation. Most people, I imagine, rather not argue at gunpoint.

This is not something you tend to come across in Canada.

That's because Canadians tend not to get worked up about firearms in the way Americans do, despite there's enough firearms in Canada to arm 1/3 of the population. Out here in central Alberta, if you tell someone you own a gun is like saying you own a car or a power drill. It really isn't a big deal.

That said, if I ever have a reason to, I have no problems loading a rifle if I have a legitimate concern about my safety or my property.
