"Breaking the mold" in any game is a great way to get banned from any game, roleplaying or otherwise. Rules exist so people actually can play a game properly and enjoy themselves without having to worry about some special snowflake acting like a self-centered twat who wrecks the game for everyone else.
Don't agree to the rules? Don't play. Simple.
