So plans have changed and I'm not stuck babysitting a dog and bird.
What I don't like about this deal is the ability for companies to attack governments for legislation that might damn this. This might make worker safety laws and services difficult to perform since if a reason production is moved overseas is for its cheaper environment: provided by a potential lack of work-place safety and environmental regulations. So it would stand to fairly suggest that these companies could fairly start suing governments for trying to pass these protections because TTP allows them too. And perhaps it'd be more difficult to even enforce existing ones; but that would remain to be seen.

Simple thing is: people like me would want to see stuff get unfucked but we're leaving an avenue for things to be fucked in the end because bottom dollar counts and not quality of life or process by which work is done. So we'll be surrendering to the shell promise of companies saying, "we're doing above standard" and the process of investigation is made difficult. It could be like an environment in the cleanliness of food in China for instance: where everyone knows everything is shit and there's a lot of fear of eating the stuff from the market but no one has a choice on the matter and has to buy anyways.

But that may be conspiratorial.

Another direct impact would be the already muddy world of copyright. I don't know what effect this would have on the informal (I think) economies of the internet with fan art; monetized or not. It could break some things or make others more complex. And as much as I don't like a lot of Let's Players I can see this easily breaking down into that world and causing a lot of scrambling. And this judgement too could be valued in the same sort of fear of the unknown as above.
Last I checked Congress is skeptical so it'll be tough for them to pass. And in the current congressional environment it might back-burner itself for a long time as they bicker and fight over inane shit or derail it with unrelated legislation. It'll also be a last-ditch attempt for the rest of us to block the deal by writing into Congress.

But the biggest defense I've heard for the TPP is greater uniformity on Intellectual Property law, which is already complex enough as it is. But for companies here in the US there might be more relief to know they have a wider range of avenues to use to crack-down on individuals in Japan "stealing" their characters. The sort of shit you'd find in shovelware in popular cases.
With any luck I can manage to find time to a catch a break from the house.
Today I read that the Kam are colorful and pretty bad-ass. They practice shamanistic voodoo, complete with pins-in-dolls.

Also as a forewarning: my posting schedule will be shaky or non-existent for the next nine days. My Dad's going to Cancun and wants me at his house to watch my stepmom's bird and dog. He doesn't want me to really be anywhere but there; apart from school and work. I may be able to check in during school, but given I have no laptop anymore my activity over these several days will be crippled.

I have told my sister I want to be relieved on weekends at least but this is cast in doubt if she doesn't get her car back from the shop; it's got transmission issues.

So in worse-case: I got nine-days of killing myself with the TV to look forward to and dealing with a bird that hates my guts. I might try to bring my drawing stuff and I could produce a bunch of traditional-media PoW drawings to bide my time and otherwise entertain myself, reading too. But if I don't decide I want to take my old laptop to someone to be fixed I won't be online.

Often times, one might wander into an RP or create an RP set in the "real world". And while another discussion thread argued the point that often this means that widely known cities like New York are often the center of the RP there are still a wider range of locations to write in. Particularly if you are party to the Nation RP community, where having a grasp beyond that of the basic observer of the local area is perhaps the most welcome thing to have as a writer, for the enjoyment and fulfillment of the reader.

And while you can use Google Street View to scout a city or read on an area in Wikipedia, I have been slowly discovering the intimacy of simple travel articles. While the former two options can be an introduction, they sometimes fail to brush on the human aspect of a location or finer points that might be expressed in a good travel article or something written by a visitor or resident of a city, providing a look into the spirit of a city from the perspective of a life-long resident, or long-term visitor in an expat community.

So in the interests of expanding horizons, let's share travel articles.
