He missed.

How did he not see that coming.

The monk had vaulted right over his iai strike. He knew he couldn't avoid all the shrapnel he'd made of the coffin, but as he recovered from his attempted strike he saw the monk land and yell something indistinct past the noise of the broken coffin bits splashing into the water.

Then a huge, concussive fireball ate through the air and filled the hallway with such force that he struggled to stay on his feet. All around him he heard the telltale sizzle of water flashing to steam in an instant, including the water he was standing in.

Bastard.

He stood his ground, sword still drawn as he held it vertical and steady, channeling all his ice powers even as his flesh began to heat and sizzle, the powerful fire magic eating past his icy elemental form to scorch his true body, causing him more pain than comfort. With a mighty swing and a loud roar he cleaved vertically downward, parting the wall of flame with the power of frost.

The fireball blew past him in a matter of seconds. In its wake, the stones glowed red hot from the blaze, steam poured from every rock and metal beam. And, in the center of the dry hallway, stood the wolf, panting as he shook his sword clean of the ice that coated its blade. His sleeves, chest, hair, everywhere that he could possibly imagine, singed and scorched by the blazing inferno. It hurt all over, it hurt like an almighty bitch, but he stood firm, panting as he gave himself a once over, poring over his injuries and how to best heal them before he continued to fight.

However, today was his day, as physics proved. Once the fire had burned itself out, therein was a huge area of hot air, without moisture. However, that fireball couldn't possibly have burned through the entire labyrinth that they were in. A few moments later, there was an inrush of cold air that circled his feet, invigorating him from the bottom up. As he felt the chill spread through his whole body, he smiled, the burns and scorched patches on his bare flesh slowly peeling and scabbing over as his body began repairing itself with the benefit of the cold. The process would take time, but he could accelerate it.

With his sword still ready, he gathered what he could muster of his ice powers and channeled them into his blade once again. The black sword grew icy cold as clouds of mist rolled off of its blade, and he gently pointed it behind him, where the hidden chills were coming from. He delved into them in his mind, pulling every bit of moisture and cold that he could find and accelerating them towards his sword. Slowly, surely, he felt a strong breeze against his back, cold and wet against the large bare patches that had burned through his jacket and shirt and jeans and shoes.

He raised his sword above his head, a smirk gracing his face.

"That hurt. But you know what's gonna hurt more?"

He swung his sword down and leveled it at the panting monk.

"This."

All of a sudden the inrush of air grew stronger, way stronger, and bits of ice began freezing in the air. The superheated hallway sizzled and spat as the renewed cold assault battered the wave of heat in its wake, dissipating it quickly as the growing blizzard advanced down the hallway.

Daniel took a step forward. Then another. His wounds closed and sealed themselves, one after another.

Another step. Quicker. Further. Another step.

He was at a jog. Sword still ahead of him. The oncoming blizzard tore at his heels, the gusts of wind powering his forward advance. More and more ice filled the air until it was swirling with it, a huge blizzard that had formed out of the moisture the monk hadn't touched with his fire.

At a run now. More steps.

With a touch of his magic, the ice crystals in the air formed and combined themselves into deadly sharp slivers no more than a palm's length long and thin as a wire.

He changed his stance as he ran, from sword horizontally ahead of him to a closed stance, his right hand close to his face, sword blade pointed upward and slanted diagonally to the right. His left hand braced itself on his right forearm and he gathered his strength, simultaneously gathering the ice needles in the air around him and willing them to his aid.

Then, just a few feet before the monk, he stopped, braced a foot, and took a huge, almighty swing downward, chopping downward at the floor as the blizzard rushed past him, the shards and needles of ice in the air flowing in a clockwise spiral that shot straight at the monk, enveloping the whole corridor.

As the blizzard and rushing ice passed him, he crouched and blitzed forward, closing the distance again between himself and the monk.

His left foot landed in front of his right, sword back behind him in his right hand. He raised it, gripped the hilt with both hands, and swung it downward and to the right (Xing Yi's left) quickly, before reversing the direction of his swing and cleaving upwards and to the left in the same motion.
They're new lol. Must not be used to this place.

Either that or they don't care. See how the IC also has ooc chatter?
Might be how these guys do OOC text. Must be from another forum or something, or a chat room thing.
A fight! A fight! And over something so trivial as a misplaced hand on an absolutely fine young woman. He'd seen it all from his place at the bandstand, and as he watched, a huge hulking man in a cowboy hat stepped forth. The woman's man, probably. A brief argument ensued, which was when the young man made his move, driving a knee into the big man's gut, twice no less.

A bottle smashed against the big guy's head.

Then all hell broke loose.

Johnny idly ducked a flying bottle as it smashed into the back wall of the bandstand. Most of the action grew around the center of the ballroom but it was spreading, evidenced by the drunkard who stumbled forward looking for a face to punch and found his. The punch went wild and he scowled, placing his palm on the drunk man's face to push him away even as another guy chopped downward with another bottle. He twisted to the right and the swing went by untouched, the bottle smashing itself on the lip of the bandstand. He readied his right leg and, with a swiftness, shot a knee into the man's chest. As the guy staggered backward, his right foot shot up and a metal-plated toe drove itself into his temple. The offending drunkard went saggy and collapsed as Johnny flicked specks of broken glass from his shoulder. With a free hand, he downed the last of his drink and set the glass on the bandstand as his other hand raised, a finger pointing to the ceiling as he drew a circle in the air.

"Boys, strike up a fancy tune, will ya?"

The conductor nodded briefly and turned to his band. A snap of his fingers and the band now played a classy, upbeat tune as Johnny strode into the fray.

A man careened his way and Johnny calmly stepped over his falling form, his feet gently tapping a beat on the carpet, muffled by all that shag fabric.

Two steps forward, one step back, a tap to the front and his left leg shot up, his heel cracking the jaw of another drunk idiot trying to get his hands dirty in the brawl.

A turn to the left, another step forward, dum dee dum, another turn, and his right leg shot out, jamming itself in the stomach of someone in his way.

Another left turn, doo dee doo, two steps forward two steps back and a twist to the right as he crouched and swept out the legs of another brawler. Johnny completed his twist as his right leg shot up almost vertically. It came right back down in a vicious axe kick, his heel burying itself within the fallen man's gut, eliciting a pained yell as the man fell unconscious.

He took a step on the body, a step over, and his feet landed on the polished wood of the dance floor.

Perfect.

Tappity tap.

His hands stuffed themselves within his pockets.

A brawler charged him and he responded by hopping back a step and swinging a vicious football kick that sent the man careening across the room. The sound that followed blew everyone in his immediate vicinity to the floor.

A loud crak-thoom.

The band stopped briefly as air immediately expanded in the space just behind Johnny's raised leg, and a huge blast of wind spiralled out into the room, ruffling hair, raising dresses and knocking over unattended glasses and cups. He slowly lowered his leg, a smirk on his face as he raised a hand to the brim of his hat, running it gently across the brim. He looked up, the other young man now floating in the air as he apparently scoured the crowd, presumably for the fatso he was chasing.

"Hey, flyboy, he's far and away now. I didn't see where he went but chances are he's long gone. Now, humour a man, hmm? I've been itching for a good fight, and you just might be the man to beat."
In a minute him and Owen Wilson are gonna come running through while cowboys chase them. XD

Dammit Skall, you made me want to watch Shanghai Noon and Shanghai Knights again. XD
Even the best laid plans go to waste sometimes.

As Luis ducked down to reload, back to the wall, he spotted the back door of their building swing open silently and a long, black barrel stick into the room.

In all their haste to take cover they'd forgotten to clear the building.

Amateur mistake.

One that would start costing lives.

The rifle fired, blitzing through the open space.

Rounds thudded into their marksman, dropping him flat to the floor even as the fire continued to rake across the wall.

Luis' eyes widened as he opened his mouth to yell. His arm shot forward to Connor, who was busy firing out the doorway, and grabbed onto his back rigging.

Jimmy's body spasmed as hot lead tore into him, throwing him to the floor in a bloody heap.

"Contact rear!"

He pulled and yanked Connor down onto the floor amidst his sudden protests, even as the rest of the fire raked the wall above their heads.

"Shit!"

"We got trouble, Connor!"

"Yeah no shit! We gotta get to -"

"No time, they're gone! We gotta move, this area's getting too hot!"

"Yeah, but where?!"

Luis' eyes swept the house. In the far corner, there was a staircase heading to the second floor. The thing with these dwellings, always built small and with multiple floors to make space. He betted that there was a ladder to the roof as well. That was their ticket out.

"Up! We flash front and back, then we get upstairs! C'mon let's go!"

He pulled another flashbang from his vest as his buddy did the same. With pins pulled, both men counted down from three and lobbed their grenades out the front and back doors and waited.

The grenade out the front thumped against the chest of an insurgent and he yelled a warning as they scattered.

The other grenade would tumble out the back door and come to rest a foot away from Rez.

Bang.

Flash.

"Go go go!"

Connor stood and ran for the staircase as Luis laid down suppressing fire out the front door with his machine gun, then turned his attention to the back door, raking it and the walls with gunfire for two seconds, before stopping to join his teammate upstairs.

On the second floor, Luis' hunch was proven: a thick wooden ladder stood inside a small skylight in the ceiling. Roof access. Connor was huddled in the far corner, rifle pointed at the staircase. Upon realising that his teammate was joining him, he lowered his gun and sighed as he caught his breath.

"Shit man! Since when did this turn into a shitstorm again?!"

"Since we didn't clear the building, Connor."

The black man's eyes grew wide as he realised their amateurish mistake. He slammed a fist against the wall and yelled in anger.

"Shit! So stupid! Fuckin' A man!"

Luis went over to the big man and shook him bodily by the shoulders.

"Connor, focus! We gotta get outta here man, or we'll end up like our buddies downstairs. Now, only way out is through the roof. We're gonna get up there, alright? You go first, I'll cover you."

He merely nodded as he shouldered his rifle and advanced to the ladder, beginning his climb up. Luis remained in the room, reloading his machine gun as quickly as he could while his other hand trained his handgun on the stairwell in case their aggressors showed up. Slow going, considering he was using one free hand and a little of the other to do so.
@ImportantNobody Yeah my failure would be complete, if the insurgents didn't happen to notice the half-cyborg man creeping around like a dumb to the front of the building they are also shooting up.

He'd get shot before he reached the door. XD

But go ahead. I already have a post finished, so I'll post mine assuming that Rez went around back.
@ImportantNobody Uh, they entered the building from the front door and are currently shooting out the front through two windows situated on either side of the currently busted wooden door.

Unless Rez is entering from the rear, your post doesn't make sense.
