'What If' moves should generally be avoided unless you're trying to coral an opponent into a trap. You told me what you'd do if I swung diagonally at you before I made any genuine offensive intent clear. Now, that wasn't my plan, but if it HAD been, you'd have just given me a warning that might have helped me to avoid damage. Of course you might also state such a thing to prevent an opponent from following that train of thought and opening with a telegraphed swing, but I see no reason why you'd not want someone to go for broke and wind up wide open.

Likewise, it's not good because it also may put an opponent into an iffy (and not in a good way) situation if they had actually been planning a similar move. It might make it look like they saw the heads up and specifically avoided it and performed a slight variation, thus appearing to metagame.

Again, it's fine if you're trying to herd an opponent, but there are a lot of situations where it's not practical. It usually just provokes opponents to metagame and gives you one less opening. Better to let your opponent make mistakes rather than try to openly corner them. A cornered beast fights harder, after all.

Kull stepped back onto his left foot as Selandra moved forwards, knees bending. His reach was indeed far shorter. He had little choice but to try and play on the fringes of her reach as best he could with a mere ten feet of leeway, hoping she'd slip up.

*A grim show of teeth, wicked eyebrows arching sardonically, as if in audience of a black comedy*

Except he didn't screw around or retreat. He didn't take another step backwards. The axe swayed perilously and Kull abruptly moved towards Selandra almost as quickly as she was moving towards him, legs scissoring as he closed the distance on her. He was estimating the reach she currently had with her net and trident as she did so, and would take note of how far her hand was from the head of her weapon as well as what kind of grip she had on the net. The captain was strong, but he moved also with a fluid conservation. He wasn't a chunky bodybuilder or a useless weightlifter. He was a lifetime warrior, quick and decisive as well as powerful. Selandra wanted to whittle him down, but judging by the prowling purpose of his approach, by the latent burning electricity crackling and sizzling just below the surface, there'd not be time for playing it safe. It seemed like he barely even acknowledged her net as a threat, and that looming axe might as well have had her name emblazoned on the flat of the blade. Yet... He had so many openings, didn't he?

"WOMAN! HAVE YOU EVER WORN HIGH HEELS!? HOW TALL WOULD YOU BE THEN, YOU DAMNED VIXEN, YOU!? THINK OF THE POSSIBILITIES! FUCK!"

Kull stood neutral, gripping his axe in both hands, right over left, holding the head near his right shoulder and the shaft diagonal across his body. He seemed to be poised for a right to left swing. He was both shorter and lighter than the elf, but damned if he didn't look stacked. The noisy bastard could've passed for a chimney on legs. His sharp face was beat red with mirth at his own crappy jokes.

Aye, that'd be sufficient, though I'd be fine with you increasing her weight to match her height. She's already a beanpole, without her magic strength buffs I don't imagine she'd be very combat effective with what I presume to be the body of a bulimic street lamp.

Eyes: Dark Brown (close to black), overshadowed by sardonic eyebrows.
Hair: A black widow's peak, combed back

Tattoos/Scars/Piercings: Kull's eyes and mouth have distinct scarring from fistfights, permanent cauliflower ears, several white notches crisscross his chest and arms, presumably left by various bladed weapons. His right forearm is enircled by several deep tissue scars, from when he shoved his hand down a lion's esophagus.

Day To Day Attire: A full set of bronze armor (faceless helmet, pauldrons, breastplate, armguards, gauntlets, greaves, the works), a maroon cloak emblazoned with the insignia of a black bull, a sixteen pound double headed greataxe, a twenty-eight inch, pound-and-a-half gladius with chili powder in the scabbard worn on his right flank, a pair of gauche daggers at his waist, a pair strapped to his calves, and one on each flank. Six daggers in all. He's very fond of wearing crimson war paint, in tiger stripes across his face.



Abilities: Kull is a physical powerhouse, able to bench 500 and kick through cinderblock like styrofoam with his reinforced greaves. He once killed a lion with asphyxiation by ramming his fist down its throat. He has the reflexes of a professional boxer and the power to match, along with nearly three decades of experience as a manslayer.

Personality: Kull is an abrasive, overwhelming, and incredibly intense man who has no concept of what an indoor voice is and no off-button. He's of a wild, brave nature, meeting every challenge in the only way he knows how; by beating it down with his axe and/or screaming profanity at it. He's quite creative in his lunatic insults, but it's rarely personal. It serves as a psychological aid and weapon for Kull, enabling him to work himself into a war frenzy while intimidating his opposition. As a professional warrior and captain of the guard (he was a former mercenary as well), he lives solely to hone his skills in combat, and to help mold an environment free of scum. He's drastically impatient and highly critical, despising any course of action short of stalking right up to the bad guy and strangling him.

Despite his faults, though, Kull is truly a good man at heart. Sometimes good guys don't wear white and act nice, after all. He strives to make the lives of innocent people better, and is more than willing to sacrifice himself to a noble cause. His loyalty is undying, for all his lack of social skills. He knows how to have a good time, and can be surprisingly understanding at times. He tends to be greedy, not much for sharing food nor glory, but he's always more than willing to share (profanity laced) encouragement and advice. When it comes to animals, he seems to have a soft spot. Kull gets along well with most creatures, until he kills and eats them for protein. Hey, a man's gotta eat!

Habits: Kull tends to shudder, jerk or twitch with frenetic energy whenever he feels like he's about to get a chance to fight. He often tosses around loud, creative expletives, especially during combat.

Childhood: Kull went through the old Spartan glut, you know. Training as soon as he was of age, fighting wild animals bare-handed, killing men on a battlefield when he was a teen. Sure, there are some nice old stories of his feats and adventures, but he's not here to tell history. He's here to make it.

Adulthood: Served as a mercenary for several years, and then joined up with the Empire of the Crimson Throne. He helped them win a critical battle and was thus promoted to Captain. He'd conked a fuck-ton of baddies, got hitched with a woman as crazy as he was, you get the idea. He never had any silly dramatized moments, no whiny tears in the rain. He never even had any rivals, or a nemesis. Whenever an enemy jumped up, Kull simply knocked them back down. Needless to say, he's very good at his job.
