Adam prefers to dress quite plain, with unbranded tees and jeans to blend into the average. Sometimes he’ll add a cowboy hat to the ensemble, a perfect addition for playing the drunk college kid on a hotstreak.

Adam was born in Nevada at his parents home on the outskirts of Las Vegas. He lived a relatively ordinary childhood, playing cards almost every night with his family and always gathering with the local Paiute tribe and dancing every year at the Pow Wow. Still, his childhood felt defined by the kitschy lights of the city, always winking at him from his bedroom window, beckoning and beautiful.

His older brother, Curt, left for the Marines when Adam was just six, looking to see the world on the government's dime and get out from under the overwhelming presence of the city. Adam’s parents homeschooled him, as they had his brother, to insulate him from the city as he grew older, to connect him with his tribe instead of vapid glitz and glamor.

The city Adam’s parents tried to protect him from took their lives in a car accident when Adam was eleven, when he was at home under the supervision of tribal councilman Darren Anderson. Anderson would take charge of the boy, raising him alongside Curt when he returned from the marines. His parents deaths were always explained to Adam as a true accident, completely random chance, the kind of fate that could have befallen anyone. It’s here he took to gambling, starting with small change with his brother. He tried to cope with that chance and put it in perspective. The odds that he or his brother would die like that too were one in a billion. More likely he could win a hundred hands in a row a hundred times.

Once he was thirteen Adam’s powers began to develop, as small change in his hands transformed into candies and trinkets. To protect the burgeoning metahuman, Curt gave him rudimentary training in martial arts, with slightly more extensive courses in a handful of weapons. As they fought and bonded, Curt told him stories of his service and of history, Iraq and Little Crow, Uganda and Crazy Horse, and more besides. After months of training, Curt began to slow down. He schooled Adam with Anderson, worked the Paiute smoke shop, and trained after hours, but something else was taking it out of him, the light Adam used to see in his eyes. By the time Adam was fourteen, and before he had any chance or inkling to investigate, Curt was gone. The last time Adam saw him was through his second story window, climbing into the side of a blue panel van and peeling away into the night.

By now, Adam was old enough to sneak into the casinos. As long as he made his fake perfect and got his disguise right, he could pick the laziest guard and slip inside. He spent the next three years honing his craft, robbing the casinos blind by counting cards at blackjack and changing small change to high cards in poker. He could create casino chips himself with his ability, so his only weak point was cashing out. He’d been caught more than once, but he would simply dash with as many of his chips as he could carry and return in various disguises with smaller increments of tokens.

His strategy worked without major incident until he was seventeen. A handful of Aegis agents caught wind of a metahuman in the area and joined casino security on their rotation. Two of them caught him red handed at the blackjack table, trying to sneak in a generated ace of spades. He’s now been relocated to Aegis for ‘rehabilitation'.

At some level, he hopes finding his fortune will let him find Curt and fish him out of whatever hellhole he stumbled into. On the other hand, Adam is afraid he’ll find a corpse.

He figures his enrollment at the Aegis Centre was a mistake. Ideally, he’d never have been caught at all. Still, going down for swindling the casinos had always been a possibility. Better he end up here than a standard juvie joint. Maybe he’ll learn enough to never get caught again.

Hakka Jitte

Name: Deserter Hakka Jitte and the Vagabond Pirates

Character Description: Hakka Jitte is a writer, a scientist, an explorer, and a pirate. He's a former Marine who found himself swayed by the mysteries of the Devil’s Seas. He left the service with his spider-sword, a freed prisoner, a Devil Fruit, and no permission. Now on the run with a ragtag band of criminals as enchanted by the sea's power as he is, Hakka hopes to find and catalog all the mysteries he can in his very own Devil Fruit Encyclopedia. With his book in hand, Hakka hopes to unite all the Devil Fruits of the world with their perfect partners, bringing them and the world a measure of peace.

Character Goals: Luffy is a character who tends to accept everything presented to him at face value. He absorbs what he needs for the plot and then Gum-Gum Rockets off directly into it, with absolutely no care for details.

I’m interested in Hakka because he’s the opposite. He is a thinker, and a scientist, detail oriented to a fault. He shares Luffy’s wanderlust and wonder, but he has a much more academic bent to his curiosity. Its not enough to just see the world’s strangest things, but to record them, test them, and relate those findings back to the whole world. He hopes to demystify what strangeness lies beyond the Grand Line and in the fruit of the devil; he looks forward to a future where such things have become commonplace, so that everyone can experience the magic as he has.

Malen is a former prisoner of the Navy, a small time pirate who agreed to help Hakka steal a mysterious Devil Fruit. His ambition was always to eat one and become a powerful and legendary pirate, but after taking a bite out of what turned out to be the Paint-Paint Fruit, he’s dissatisfied with the match. As Hakka is the only Devil Fruit researcher he knows, he’s joined the crew in hopes of finding a way to lose his troublesome fruit.

Douglas D. Diver - Navigator - No DF

Douglas D. Diver is an undersea photographer and part time inventor. They use their knowledge of the sea and burgeoning navigation skill to get the crew where they need to go. Douglas wants to find a Devil Fruit that can coexist with the sea, and believes that Hakka is the man that can get them closest to it.

Charlotte - Crew Pet - Spider Spider Fruit Orb Weaver Model

Charlotte is a sword that has ‘eaten’ a devil fruit through unknown means. Hakka received her as a kind of badge of office during his time with the Marines.

Devil Fruit/Special Abilities:
Charlotte's Spider-Spider Fruit Orb Weaver Model: Hakka’s sword, Charlotte, has become a Spider-Weapon, capable of splitting off eight additional bladelike legs. As well, Charlotte can fire weblines from both her tip and each of her legs, and is further able to weave these threads into several useful configurations.

Malen Verf’s Paint-Paint Fruit: A special paramythia fruit that turns the user into a ‘Paint Human’, allowing him to turn his whole body into paint, fire gouts of paint, and fast-dry paint into a kind of armor. However, Malen’s proficiency with his fruit is very low. He is given to leave multicolored footsteps in his wake, and is more often than not vulnerable to conventional attack -- he struggles to grasp the Logia-esque applications of his ability.

Douglas’ Diving Suit: A full metal outfit worn and created by Douglas D. Diver, designed to withstand the immense pressures of the sea. The suit has an internal oxygen supply, as well as the option to connect via conventional diving hose for extended undersea exploration. Douglas’ suit is also their combat uniform, up-armored, and with integrated weapon systems, firing a variety of hooks, wires, and simple projectiles.

C H A R A C T E R C O N C E P T C H A R A C T E R C O N C E P T ________________________________________________________________________________________ Ted Grant is a boxer. Growing up in the 30’s, he didn’t have the fastest jab or the strongest cross, but goddamn if he couldn’t take a punch. It was that grit that kept him in the gym working the bag, or in the ring working his opponents the same way every single night. It was the grit that let him sneer at Star City’s mob toughs, and it was probably the same grit that got him turned into a cat. As clashes between Order and Chaos go, this was a blessedly small one, taking place over only a few blocks of Star City, and Ted was foolish enough to walk into the center of it. Decades later, he still isn’t sure what he was thinking, except that he probably wasn’t, going for his mean hook on a Lord of Chaos. He spent the next few hours mewling and hiding as Fate, a Lord of Order, concluded his business with the villain. After being restored by Fate (and being sternly reminded that he was lucky to not be so much steaming, desiccated flesh), Ted returned to his life as a heavyweight boxer. Under his managers Flint and Skinner, Ted became one of the most respected boxers in the state. That is, until Flint and Skinner began taking money under the table from mob bookies to tamper with Ted’s opponents for a huge return. Ted found out and took a fall to get back at them. Ted and his managers were gunned down along with a passerby on a summer evening in 1941 by an unknown shooter. As Flint and Skinner bled and died around him, Ted found himself miraculously restored, and now on the run from the law for the deaths of his managers. As the sole survivor in a field of corpses, he was the natural suspect. Ted took up the mantle of Wildcat out of necessity -- to clear his name and discover the nature of his mysterious abilities. Even after bringing his manager’s true killers to justice, Ted’s nights as Wildcat continued, until the specter of the war drew the attention of every masked avenger in the country. Ted was one of the founding members of the JSA and learned from fellow member Doctor Fate the nature of his abilities: he was cursed, just as he was the day he turned into a cat. Fate had only altered the nature of the curse: no longer a feline form, but a cat’s longevity, for good or ill. At first, Ted thought he had nine lives. Yet, his adventures with the Justice Society brought him beyond the veil and back again over a dozen times by the war’s end. Further examination with Fate proved that he could have up to nine lives. Ted’s soul, at the mystic intersection of animal and man, had incredible regenerative properties. In just a month he could build up another life’s worth of energy. In the early 50’s as the need for the JSA’s overwatch dried up, Ted Grant attended a local boxing match in Long Island to witness the fighting prowess of an apparent octogenarian. The man felled opponent after opponent, round after round. Even once the day’s slate of fights was over, the old man showed no signs of fatigue. He welcomed spectators into the ring to test their mettle. All night, men came and dropped. When Ted finally stepped into the ring, the old man’s blows floored him, in one of the few matches Ted had lost in a decade. In tribute to Ted’s heroic actions during the war, the man agreed to reveal his method and its cost. The man, an italian immigrant, claimed to have invented the technique himself. He called it the Atlas Method, because it could give one ‘the bearing of a Greek god’. By using portions of the soul, the body could be trained beyond the limits of normal man. One could even use the technique in battle, at terrible cost to one’s lifeforce. He claimed he was only fifty five, yet developed the body of an ancient old man with overuse that continued to this day. After a half decade of training, Ted found himself the sole remaining practitioner of the method. His teacher died looking almost one hundred and fifty while Ted retained the sharp jaw and cut body of his early thirties. It was undeniable that the old man’s training with Ted was what killed him, pushing his body far beyond what any normal competitor would demand. Ted found bizarre peace in it. He died as he lived, pursuing the physical heights of humanity, and searching for the greatest battles the world had to offer. Ted spent the next several decades bouncing around the globe, seeking tutelage in all manner of martial arts, and competing wherever possible. He took on a variety of names as the years grew long: Tom Katzenberg, Pete Anthers, Yamaneko the Grappler, and a half dozen more title winning names, leaving little time leftover for nights as Wildcat between them. That changed with the Atlantean Invasion and formation of the Justice League. Wildcat was quick to join, finding himself teammate, mentor, and sparring partner to a new generation of heroes, and some of the greatest fighters they had to offer. He served with the League for its full tenure before Despero’s attack. Despero was like Ted. A big man looking to test his strength against the roughest and toughest there was. It was fitting that Ted arrived when he did, secreting himself away into the alien despots ship as he began to slink away. Fighting alone and to the sheer limit of his power, Ted was able to match Despero in three minutes of combat as the others raced to catch the ship. By the end of his bout, Ted was able to eject Despero into the upper atmosphere, and crumple to the ground. Ted lay broken in the ship's bay. He was truly lucky, for the first time in decades, that he wasn’t dead. Ignorant of galactic navigation as he was, Ted spent the next four years bouncing around all corners of the cosmos, busting the heads of every kind of alien he can get his hands on, searching for a way home. A way to rejoin the Justice League that he knows will be there to welcome him, that must still be searching for him. Until one week ago, when Ted Grant emerged through a mysterious portal at the former site of the Hall of Justice. This time instead of a hellfire powered cowboy, we’ve got an old war hero exploring the highs and lows of Charles Atlas superpowers while giving the phrase “stamina freak” new meaning. After his jaunt in space, Ted has a new reality to adjust to. Without a Justice League, and with the remnants of the Justice Society dying or dead, Ted’s support network is gone, leaving him with nothing but a chip on his shoulder from his humbling by Despero. Ted’s journey will see him wander across the world entire, connecting with heroes old and new, to fight and to reminisce. Ted still wants to the be the best, but increasingly wonders what the best place for that is. The ring, or the streets? The Earth, or the stars? I’ve structured this character for maximum interactivity, his concept is compatible with just about anything. After four years away, I was thinking one of Ted’s first stops would to the various Supermen, to test his mettle and theirs now that the title has changed hands.

Fifteen years of practice should be long enough to be good at anything, but Frank is still behind. Punishing used to be easy: cleaning his guns and cleaning the streets of scum block by block in a wash of red. The whole whole world seemed clear, a place where dotted lines of blood led him from one oh his massacre to the next. By year three, he killed the man that had taken his family from him -- he killed everyone that had been at the park that day. In another two, he could’ve had Silvio Manfreddi’s head.

But 44 hours can change everything. The Chitauri Invasion was a haze of caffeine pills, stims, and nonstop combat for Frank. Fighting on rooftops, apartment buildings, sewers, anywhere he could meet the enemy and cut them down like ugly blades of grass.

Those sleepless hours that drained every stockpile Frank had built around the city seemed to only energize the criminal element, while Frank fought they collected and schemed. Overnight regular pushers and gangbangers gained the option to switch their nine millimeters for Chitauri blasters and armor. Frank spent the next decade of his war on the back foot, dodging alien equipment and acts of mad science he had no means to reckon with. He made work what he could, but gone were the days he could kick open a door with a shotgun in hand and just work it out.

It wasn’t tenable forever. Frank had had his run ins with the law, good and bad, at one time he even had friends on the force. Since Kelley’s election, NYPD militarized to meet the so called ‘mutant threat’. The realities of the mutant population meant that more often than not, they got to test their new gear on guys like Frank. He at least managed to put four rocket propelled grenades into Silvio Manfreddi’s front archway before the cops took him down.

“PUNISHER PUNISHED,” read that morning’s Bugle, “vigilante war vet Frank Castle’s reign of terror is finally over!”

SHIELD disagreed. After six months sweating it out on Ryker’s, he was extracted and attached to the Thunderbolts, a special operations outfit known of only at the highest levels of SHIELD. As far as Frank has put together, the ‘Thunderbolts’ have existed in some form since the 70s, deploying agents with incredible skillsets. Designed by Nick Fury Sr., the program’s goal is to make maximum use of the superpowered assets collecting dust in prisons across the United States in exchange for reduced sentencing.

Frank now finds himself at the helm of an unproven team of a psychopath, a blowhard, a ghost, and a walking mystery. He will bring them together, or he’ll find himself back in a cell with his war incomplete.

GHOST - Ava Star - After the murder of her girlfriend, Ava Star became the Ghost to take revenge on the corporation that killed her lover, a crusade of thievery that eventually widened to include Stark Industries and a dozen other targets before her eventual defeat by Ant Man. The slipperiest customer this side of the X-Men.
SONGBIRD - Melissa Gold - Formerly known as Screaming Mimi, and former ‘Master of Evil’, she’s the longest serving active member of the Thunderbolts. No one can put together why she hasn’t been given the nod for leadership. Team powerhouse.

No edits or colored text because I wanted to crank it out before I go see Professor Odd and the Dimension of Niceness, but here's Iron Man's sample(it has also been added to the sheet but posted here as well for convenience).

Iron Man Sample

Rhodey’s hotshot repulsor lived up to its name as a yellow beam that glowed like every muzzle flash in the world lanced from his palm and through a handful of beetle-like enemy fighters, filling their cabins at once with inferno and cold vacuum. If he hadn’t set his visor to auto-polarize he’d be blind, like the pilot of the last fighter, whose craft spun out of control and slammed into his speared allies, finishing them all with a rushing ball of plasma as his stardrive overloaded.

“Talk about results!” Tony’s voice flared in Rhodey’s helmet speakers. “If only the hotshot could’ve sent ‘em to the gift shop before wrecking that raggedy ass fleet, huh?”

“For a few dollars more?” Rhodey mumbled, ignoring his hit and even the full palm blister swelling on his hand to see that even the armor itself was boiling. An unburst bubble of metal and gas had risen around his blaster so that he couldn’t close his gauntlet. Then there was the hotshot module itself, a robust red block affixed to his forearm that sparked and fizzed like Tony spilled his whisky on it again. It was good that Tony was only exaggerating; with his hardware like this Rhodey would have real trouble against a full fleet. He held the arm to his face so Tony could inspect it over the feed.

“Bit of operational difficulty here. The hotshot sure as hell isn’t firing again, thank God. I think some idiot in engineering is trying to blow my arm off.”

“Probably Stark working drunk again,” Tony said, “I’ll talk to him about it over a whisky and soda. A damn fine hit, Rhodey.”

“Not that fine with just one hit,” Rhodey said, “if I didn’t get ‘em all in one a better pilot pulps me with his plasma guns, every day of the week.”

“A one shot wonder is still a wonder, Rhodey baby…” Tony mused. Rhodey saw Tony in his mind’s eye, disconnecting and staring off into the middle distance to perform some act of mental acrobatics that no one else could hope to follow.

While Tony enjoyed his daydream, Rhodey’s eyes scanned the wreckage. The fighters weren’t uniform. All four had the same base craft, simple space sloops studded in ablative ceramics favored by traders, but each was heavily modified, from upgraded plasma coils to a body mod that made the craft swell from a bug to a full horned beetle. Kitbashing parts like this wasn’t uncommon, especially among pirate vessels, but for pirates, these four fighters had prepared vanishingly little place to store their loot…

“What were they doing here?” Rhodey wondered.

“Getting folded in half by Iron Man,” Tony said, coming out of his trance, “lets pack it in. I’m starving… Cheeseburgers?”
