Was talking to someone who worked in closed captioning who is now getting a new degree because so many companies are turning to AI to close caption now… Which AI is pretty shite at it still.

Games I haven’t been playing video games lately, but once I pick them back up again, I’ll make this list

Nic pulls out the small tissue packet he has in his backpack and places them in Cass’ lap before she keeps talking. When she looks out the window, he gets out of the car. He walks over to her door and opens it so he can pull Cass into his arms. “And now you help people like me. I don’t think you should hold this against yourself.” He kisses her head before pulling back to look her in the eyes.
“I know I can’t speak on behalf of your grandmother or your family, but I don’t think they would want you to hold this guilt over yourself. You didn’t want to marry someone you didn’t love and that’s okay. You had no way of knowing what would happen, okay?”
Nero squeaks in surprise but ultimately accepts their fate as Caden’s lap accessory. They certainly have no complaints about it. They happily sip the drink Caden made with a happy wiggle. “My rightful throne.” They say in agreement with Caden’s ‘better’.
Kimiko glared at Avery, tempted to smack him. “I’ve made a mistake sitting here… I also don’t drool.” She tells him before taking several gulps of the drink Caden made for her.
“Anyway, thank for for tucking me in.” She says, blush spreading across her nose and cheeks from the phrasing he used.
Nic looks at Cass with a cross between bewilderment and concern. “Why would I ever hate you?” He asks, fighting the urge to check her temperature. “A lot of what you just told me sounds more like your family placing you in an impossible position.”
“As if you could stand to be that far from me.” Nero teases Caden with a smirk. “But join me please.” They add, grabbing the closest chair and dragging it closer.
“I do n-” Kimiko realizes she’s almost yelling and immediately drops her own volume. “I don’t snore.” She declares with a frown before she realizes Avery’s probably teasing her. “And to think I came over here to thank you.” She says with a huff.
By the time Cass finishes her story, Nic feels like crying himself on her behalf. He had pulled into Caden’s driveway at some point in Cass’ history and parked the car. He made sure not to interrupt her, even though he had dozens of questions with each word she said. “It’s not your fault.” He says immediately when Cass states that her breaking the promise was the reason her family was slaughtered. He wanted to tell her it was her grandmother’s fault if anyone’s, but didn’t feel like he had any right to do so.
Gently, he holds Cass’ face and turns her towards him as he wipes her tears, brushing his thumb softly across her cheeks. He now understood how Cass could understand the pain he and his father are going through, but it’s on a much grander scale for her. He also understands her hatred for demons - if more chimera showed up, Nic wouldn’t be able to hold back anger for them.
“I’m glad you had Caden to help you and keep you safe.” He continues, brushing her hair out of her face and tucking it behind her ears. “Don’t force yourself with Nero - something as traumatic as this takes time and I have a feeling you haven’t been processing it in a healthy way.” He tries to say the last part in a teasing tone, but even he knows there isn’t anything he can say or do to truly make it better for her.
Nero watches as Kimiko seems torn about where to sit and tilts their head, glancing between the two of them. No, they aren’t about to kill each other anymore, but something is definitely going on. They otherwise ignore it though as they nibble on the appetizers.
That doesn’t help Kiki’s nerves, but she nods back to Caden. “I would love a drink.” She says to Caden before looking at the seats available. As much as she doesn’t want to torture herself, she wanted to at least thank Avery, so she went to sit by him, hoping Caden and Nero would act normal.
“Was it a dream, or did I fall asleep on the couch?” She murmurs in a low voice, hoping Caden isn’t eavesdropping, as she takes her seat and looks at Avery.
Nic nods to himself. “I want you to do whatever is most comfortable for you, but I also want to better understand where you’re coming from when it comes to Nero.” Nic says, once again squeezing her leg gently.
Kimiko makes a face at Caden when he tilts her chin up. “Well, when the other option is us screaming at each other, I kind of have to back down.” She says with a frown after listening to what Caden has to say. “Also, swear to me you won’t make it obvious when you talk to him. The last thing I need is his boss making him feel like he has to reciprocate.” Especially since she often just felt like the annoying little sister of Caden’s.
Nic nods along to what Cass is saying before he speaks. “There was some time in college where Jane had dated a string of just… bad influences that really jeopardized her goals.” Nicholas says. “I was really wary of everyone Jane would date after that, worried that they were just going to be bad news again. Jane had to very strictly talk to me and tell me to back down after I met Kat. She gave me an ultimatum that I either give her a chance or lost our friendship.”
He reaches over and gently squeezes Cass’ thigh. “What’s your history with demons? Is that something you wanted to talk to me about today?” He hadn’t brought it up because he didn’t want to bring the mood down, but now it feels like he should know before they reach Caden’s.
Nero gives a little spin when Avery says they and Caden look good. “I know, right, we’re a very attractive couple.” Nero looks back to smile at Caden, who looks to be comforting Kiki.
“Are the two of you still stepping on each other’s cookies?” Nero asks of him curiously.
Kiki chews on the inside of her lip for a moment as Caden talks before she sighs. “I don’t think he’d answer… I also promised to only ask him one question a day.” She lets her forehead fall and rest on Caden’s chest for a minute, taking some deep breaths.
“Every time I’m convinced there’s nothing there, he does something that makes me question everything again… I don’t want to make a fool of myself and end up reading too much into anything.” She pulls her head out of his chest and steals a glance at Avery again.
From the descriptions Cass had given him regarding demons, Nic didn’t blame Cass for not giving the benefit of the doubt. “It must be hard on you.” He says gently, figuring that maybe Cass will want to vent about it more than have Nic try to solve the issue.
Kimiko peeks up from her hands to look at Caden, blush adorning her cheeks and ears. “N-no, nothing happened… I’m just…” She glances over at Avery for a moment, admiring his looks once again, but looking back at Caden. “I’m confused.” She states, mouth twisting into a frown.
It’s not a lie, she is confused about Avery and where they stand. Kiki feels like if she hadn’t fallen asleeep earlier, they might have even kissed.
“Had to really think about those, huh?” Nic teases, patting her leg right as she started to say how she liked the flavor. “I can’t wait to taste it later.” He tells Cass with a wink.
“Yes please! You make the best drinks.” Nero chirps excitedly to Caden.
From behind them, Kiki walks over to join. “Well, don’t the two of you look cute, matching and everything.” Nero turns to look at her before looking back at Avery outside.
“Looks like we’re not the only ones.” They say with a smirk.
Kiki raises an eyebrow in a silent question, looking outside to see what Nero is referencing to. She spots Avery almost immediately and immediately puts her head in her hands. She swears she didn’t do this on purpose, but she did in fact look like she meant to match with him.
“Please don’t-“ It’s too late, Nero has untangled themselves from Caden and has made her way over to Avery, tapping his shoulder.
Nic crosses his heart. “With my life.” He vows dramatically before he looks over at Cass. “By the way, what are a demon’s weaknesses?” He asks in a mock whisper.
Nero bobbed their head up and down enthusiastically, already wiggling with energy. “Yes and also I’d like that very much.” They say with a bright smile up at Caden.
Nic doesn’t miss Cass’ eye roll at the mention of Nero, but it’s not his place to defend Nero to her. Honestly, if he hadn’t witnessed the love clearly shared between Caden and Nero, he might feel the same way. Nic grabs her hand after she grabs her drink, leading her out to the car with the bags of candy. “I’ll stick by your side all night, don’t worry.” Nic teases, trying to ease the tension.
Nero eyes the three-piece suit now that it’s on Caden and grins. “The suit certainly looks better on you.” They say before pulling on their own clothes, layer by layer. “You should wear red more often.” They remark after they’ve dressed completely.

Nic, happy with the compromise, kisses Cass’ head while they wait for their drinks. At her concern, Nic turns his head to smile down at her. “Actually, after seeing them all this morning, I think I’m even less stressed bout dinner tonight. Plus, this time Kimiko won’t be super awkward at least.” He assures her.
“Nero is actually kind of endearing once you see them in action. They acted like a curious child the whole time. Hard to be scared of that.”
Nero grabs the dress along with stockings and a silver chained belt to match with Caden before they run back into the bedroom to change. They found him buttoning his jacket when they walked in and held up the dark red velvet dress for Caden’s approval.
Kimiko wakes up in her own bed and looks around confused for a moment. Had she just dreamed about watching television with Avery? When she sits up, she notices the sore muscle from earlier is gone. “So… not a dream.” Did she fall asleep on Avery? Her cheeks warm at the thought.
She quickly gets out of bed and changes, not wanting to feel underdressed by Avery again.
