They were very close now, only separated by a few meters. Huo could see the small beads of sweat on Fang’s face and hear the slightest groan of pain from her movements. Although Huo’s stomach still ached she felt a surge of satisfaction knowing they’d traded an eye for an eye. Still, she wasn’t done yet, and neither was General Fang. Huo began circling her opponent, her unrestrained tongue prodding at the sleeping platypusbear she’d just warmed up. Overconfidence at her own abilities beginning to sink deep because of the small victory.

“The wrong fight, ha, not likely. More like you threw a rock at the wrong fire bender and now you’re gonna be lucky enough to live to regret it after I burn your face off. And I bet it’ll look better afterwards too!” Huo’s scornful mocking evolved into a frustrated growl as the earth bender remained stoically stationary, almost inviting Huo to throw some sort of attack. Acting against her better judgment Huo planted her feet readying herself for an all out assault. “What's wrong, did you freeze in place from the fear, coward? Here, let me help you with that!” Huo closed the remaining few feet separating them bringing her right hand around in a sweeping exaggerated uppercut, her closed fists spouting dancing flame meant to flow under Fang’s helmet and implement its concussive force on her chin. Huo’s waist however twisted mid strike, and her foot spun around once again sending a secondary blast after the first, much the same way she’d managed to land a hit on the General before. Huo reasoned of course, that if it worked once, it would work again.

@Poet Alright sure.

What does it entail? I feel his image works well.

Finished, any feedback you have is welcome.

Bile and saliva mixed in a voracious concoction as every molecule of air in Huo’s lungs burst out, fleeing the pressure of rock and stone that crushed against her lower abdomen. Chunks of rock and dust swirled, mixing with the girl’s bodily fluids staining the front of her crimson garb, caking there as she curled into a tight ball of agony. Tears sprang unbidden to her eyes but no sound escaped her gaping mouth, for she possessed no air with which to formulate words. Sucking in great mouthfuls Huo staggered to her feet, trying to reorient herself. There was the smoldering remains of the log cart, there was the rooftops and the wall line, and there the ground and shattered remnants of the earth bender general’s stone. Wheezing like a baboondonkey Huo waited for the world to stop spinning and her erratic heartbeat to calm. Then she focused in once more on the general, who’d just launched an attack towards Zhen.

“Alright so you’re a tough girl who wants to play rough. We can play rough.” Huo growled to herself, her eyes narrowing to menacing slits. Her chest still hurt but at least she could breathe properly again. Summoning her rage at being so easily bested and floored Hup sprinted towards General Fang determined to get at least one good hit in on her. Flames erupted from her palms like twin comets scorching the stones with their fiery tails. Heming in close on General Fang’s flank Huo spun on her heel, bringing her hands together with a resounding clap casting the fire in an upward arc followed swiftly by a sweeping kick which launched a second burning attack towards her foe, mere moments after the first.
After being a sheriff in a big galaxy for several years Jean Wylder had seen many odd things. From the gross to the weird to the downright strange but there was always something new that managed to sweep him off his feet, leave him star struck and bamboozled. And in the last forty minutes he’d seen two such things. Although, Princess Juniper’s talents were more on the freaky side of things, they still fascinated him to no end. How did it work? Where did the extra mass come from and go? Could she change into anything at all? Hundreds of unanswered and unasked questions flooded Jean’s mind, and for many of them he suspected not even Juniper knew herself. “Yeah,” Jean slicked back his hair, holding his hat in his off hand over his heart as a sign of respect. “That’ll do it gel – erm highness. I can certainly imagine a million and one ways to abuse that sort of thang, legally speaking. Hell, I wouldn’t mind an ace like that up my sleeve every now and again.”

The sheriff chuckled at this, fitting his hat back onto his head and ensuring the wide brim sat just low enough to conceal his eyes. “Ya see right here, its th’ best I c’n do. An’ it don’t help much, as Mac n’ Ursa c’n attest. Especially if I’m workin’ city side. Oh, and Miz Ursa, if it helps some I could rustle up bunch o’ nice taxpayer kredits to cover the expenses. If’d please ya. Course, it probably wouldn’t be near th’ same as your used too- Whoa now.” Reacting with his quasi-famous speed Jean stepped forward catching Ursa before she struck the floor, resting her wait against his own and stabilizing her unconscious form. Glaring at the whirring pink medical bot Jean waved him away. “Ya damn blistering scrapheap, she’s probably gone belly-up cause o’ your incessant jawin’ more’n else!”

Once Mac arrived Jean passed the burden of supporting Ursa off to him, taking on a sour face when Mac hoisted her easily as if she weighed nothing. “Yeah, well you’ve got my gun and shucked me, so I ain’t trying nothing slick heels, word as an law keeper.” Turning towards the shapeshifter and assassin Jean jerked his head in a, come on then, motion. “Ah suppose I could use some proper vittles. If either of y’all know th’ way. I’m new aboard this vessel.” Gesturing for either Emmett or Juniper to lead, he fell into step beside the latter, lowering his voice to speak with the royalty semi-privately. “I know how you must be feelin’ lass. I lost my parents when I was very young too. Th’ pain, an’ anger of knowing he’s out there, free to hurt others as he pleases. It gets to man, and no lass nor lad deserve to go through that. So I swears come hell or high water I’ll make sure th’ yellow bellied, crowbait who done did it pays. They’ll receive their just due, planted nice n’ tidy neath th’ daisies. I promise.”

Sliding out of bed like a slimy gelatinous mass Tonya stretched and groaned, her muscles aching from the previous day’s exertions. She sat hunched over on the disarrayed covers, easing the soreness from her back and thighs.
“No one told me being a hero would hurt so much.” She ran her fingers through her scraggly black hair and down her face, tracing the slight swelling forming under her jaw line. A souvenir from her bout with Mr. Johnson. Her father noticed the mark last night, and attempted to question its appearance. His initial concern was well masked, but Tonya suspected he fretted over whether she’d been one of the many kids brainwashed and injured yesterday at the Lounge. She’d denied ever going near the place of course insisting she’d received the mark on accident, and after a good deal of trying to press the subject he seemed to accept her explanation, and resigned to other topics of conversation. Though Tonya doubted he didn’t still suspect something amiss. It felt wrong bald-face lying to him like that, but Tonya also felt she had no choice. Ossar insisted she tell no one, giving root to all sorts of horror stories about Rouge-Bat hurting her, or her father should everyone and anyone know her true identity.

“He is a crier for the people is he not?” The kwami serpent would say every time Tonya broached the topic. “Though the sand might shift and change, and show any sign or symbol; once the wave crashes upon the shore the sand’s true face will always be revealed. Heed my warning young Miss Tabbet, only thou must know who bears the Serpentine Miraculous burden, and that is how it must stay.” Eventually even Tonya for all her wit and wile became lost in the web of analogies and anecdotes Ossar used and much like her father, dropped the matter altogether.

Stretching and yawning one last time Tonya set about preparing for the school day, brushing her teeth and hair, pulling on some clothes and throwing a few stray books into her bag. She spent a little extra time in her sock drawer, fishing around until she produced a video camera. That too went into the bag.

A single firm knock sounded on her bedroom door and her father stuck his head inside, nodding once he saw Tonya awake and more or less prepared. “You looked tired last night, I was worried you might sleep in. Come on, I’ve made breakfast. Hurry before you’re late.” After eating a rushed meal of oatmeal and apple slices with her father, Tonya made as if to leave, sneaking some pop tarts from the kitchen pantry as she headed for the door.

“See you later dad.” She called waving goodbye before descending the outdoor stairs of the apartment complex, stepping out onto the road towards school. She lived within a mile of the High School, close enough to walk without even breaking a sweat. Fellow classmates and friends occasionally joined her on the short walk too. One such classmate, a sweet boy about her age named Eddie came jogging up. She always found his mismatch eyes very strange, and he wore his hair in a ponytail. He was a little odd at times, but Tonya appreciated his presence. She’d been dying to tell someone her story, or, at least as much as she could tell other people without breaching Ossar’s warning.

“Hey, morning Eddie, yeah, yeah the homework wasn’t so bad. But you won’t believe what happened to me yesterday at the mall.” Tonya gloated not wasting second before diving straight into her tale. “You heard about what happened yesterday on the news, right? That creepy teacher attacking kids and stuff. Well I saw him, and something else. When these teens grabbed me, and started dragging me towards the guy, some masked kids in super hero costumes swooped in and rescued me. They had powers and everything. I got away after that, but they stayed and fought him. And I won too, if the reporters aren’t fibbing. Cool right?”

What a good idea... I mean, a zombie apocalypse, or an alien, invasion, or even a robotic takeover are all great world enders, but, I mean all of them! YEAH! Its like the world is tired of us humans surviving everything it throws at us and is like, "Oh oK, ok, humanity, you think you're so tough?"

Anyway I'm very intrigued, sign me up on the road kill contract, or whatever it is they're using to seal the deal in the Survivor's Club nowadays.

I am intrigued, add me to the interested roster.
