Eldarin let out a cry of surprise at the little monster's speed in latching onto his leg. Reacting with a combination of instinct and reflex, his sword burst into flame and was quickly plunged into the center of the metal torso, hopefully impaling whatever nasty critter lay inside.

Relutantly, but still determined to get through this dark place, Eldarin continued walking, eyes sweeping across the darkness.
