Profile section preference indicator

hmm... we just (two days ago) got a strange idea that we wonder what others think of... Might it be a worthy idea to have a profile-set indicator people can add concerning sections they feel they frequent? Something that'll pop up below the online status (if applicable)? Example end result:

The idea behind such a feature is that it'll be restricted to a checkmark thingy in profile with the eight core sections as options (free, casual, advanced, 1x1, tabletop, nation, arena) and no blank textboxes or anything like that. Is this idea decent, or do people think there's a risk it'll breed conflict between sections (like: "you're a free player, you don't count.")

1. Where is everyone? I don't want to drop my character into a situation that conflicts with my first few posts. 2. What season is it? Kind of important for designing my character's first set of appearance. 3. How many posts should I create, before running into everyone else? 4. But really, how do I connect to this RP's IRC?

We'll answer the questions not already answered, as Freeshooter and Sep answered them fairly well.

• Right now, everyone are in the City of Amaryth, in the nation of Othea.
• The current season, while not clearly defined, is around early to mid-spring. The weather and climate in Amaryth (and much of Othea) keeps it all warm.
• That is entirely up to you, but it is generally easier to encounter others quickly.
• We would recommend checking out a non-mibbit IRC client. One that isn't browser-based. We can't say for sure why mibbit won't work for you, but it could be something like that the default port is closed on your computer. Or it could be something else entirely. Finding and correcting such errors is generally easier on less primitive IRC clients.

maybe like them, maybe something more universally annoying... hmm... perhaps if you want people to migrate you should set up something only visible to the user in question? a big flashy thing saying "CHANGE YER AVATAR, YE NARWHAL!" maybe? note: No insults to narwhals intended. EDIT: nice to see that notifications clear if the post you were referenced in is read. Earlier you had to check the notifications even when the post was viewed. This is one step closer to the unread posts system, right?

you know... if you gave the non-migratory people something generically annoying, then you might get more migrations. We personally haven't bothered with an avatar yet because we've not found one sufficiently good for us.

A text box like that might be useful, but only if its kept up-to-date. and if empty, not visible to anyone. Free, Casual, and Advanced Roleplays... and Medium

Advanced was in the past plagued by elitists. That is no long the case. You should really do as Lillian suggests and try it. If enough people of the "high-casual" type go in there, the average lengths in advanced will decrease.
