Current I'm tempted to say "I've lost better friends than you" to a lote of people lately. I'm not sure what I ever want to say to the better friends that I've lost, though.

Bio

Twelve years ago, I said something on this website that continues to embarrassing me to this day. I was a stupid kid, like most, but I've never quite gotten the taste out of my mouth. Anyone who knew me at the time can tell you about it.

I love this website. I'm pretty sure my phylactery is stored wherever the webserver is and a significant chunk of me will just disappear when it ceases operation. Until then, it comforts me. I should go to the hardware store and paint my bedroom walls with the same soft, brownish grey that the background color has been for the last twelve years. Some of my friends can't wait for the site to go offline but I don't know of any other places that offer the same sense of community.

I'm an omni-gamer. I like board games, tabletop roleplaying games, admire tabletop war games, suck at riddles, and have an absurd library of video games. Survival horror is basically my favorite genre. Otherwise I'm a fan of esoteric, occult bullshit and punk rock. But disco's cool. Disco is what humanity sounds like when it chooses to be happy. Between you and I, I'd like to hope that the days of my life can sparkle like a disco ball, accreting like sparks from a grinder held up against the unwavering dark of deaths own shadow. Burn baby burn.

You and I, we're gonna die. We should be friends first, though. Write some checks we can't cash and make eachother smile. Make believe for a while.

Hello! The name's Nightrunner. I've got a strange case of being a weirdo and find roleplaying uncharacteristically pleasurable for someone my age. All in all I've got three years experience, more or less, of roleplaying experience interrupted by my mundane lifestyle. Hopefully I'll continue to develop as a writer, but personal bias makes measurement hard to tell.

I've kinda been a dick to you, or felt like I have been later on. But the truth is I'm really quite fond of you and haven't shown it sufficiently. I see you're looking for things to play. So I'll see if I can seduce convince you to join me in this play-by-post roleplaying.

NARUTO - I'd assume you have an idea. If not, I could enjoy a good ol' genin adventure where the PCs train before taking the Chunnin exams. Fairly simple at the start and it could get more complicated/interesting as we go.

STAR WARS - In the early twentieth century, Nikola Tesla founded the Jedi Temple in New York City, leading to the formation of a New, Earth-based Jedi Order. Accepting force sensitive youths and adults alike, they have existed in secret, discreetly righting wrongs and acting as a buffer between human and extra-terrestrial relations.

SUPER MARIO BROS - Ever since Bowser has set himself up as the sovereign lord of the slow moving Koopas, he has rivaled the neighboring Mushroom Kingdom in martial strength and maintained his position through superior tactics. A birth defect occuring only in koopa twins grants superior musculature. These brothers, being the only Koopas capable of jumping, were utilized as special forces all across Bowser's domain, with caches of weaponry mystically suspended above the access of most passersby.

Then the saviors arrived, the ever rare humans, brothers at that. Mario and his little brother Luigi ravaged a perimeter established outside Princess Peach's castle, forcing Bowser to reassess his strategy. Looking for a slightly deeper, possibly darker Marioverse. We can swap dominant 'GM' positions if you'd like.

Starter Plots

  • Forcing the brothers to run through a gauntlet, Bowser kidnapped the Princess before leading them on a wild goose chase.
  • Faking a truce, Bowser invited key members of each community to a party! (Constantly endangering them along the way)
  • A few from the Mushroom Kingdom are invited to a distant resort where Mario is framed for a crime.

MEGAMAN - Moreso than most people, I love Megaman. Over the years its built up an enormous mythology and has set the record for the longest series of video games. If you know anything/have played any of them, lemme know which! and I will drop you.. a dope pitch! I pretty much have it all absorbed in my head except for Star Force and love the entire world(s [in the case of BN/SF]).

BIONICLE - Like MM, Bionicle has a disproportionately small fanbase despite its deep mythology. My blog on Iwaku has the basis for a Bionicle game combining aspects of pre and post reboot universes. In case you aren't up to the enormous task of making sense of the Bionicle universe, I could refer you to a (freely accessible) movie or just call anything we do AU.
I know nothing of Big Hero 6. No opinion, bro.
Drew, on Fanfiction.Net there's a guy named Erico. He has a great wealth of Megaman fics, a Starfox, and a modern Legend of Zelda. The latter is actually on my reading list, but I would recommend checking it out based on the concept and the author's other work.
Those are the two most heavily populated places in the US so far as I know. It appeaks to people because there is huge room for diversity there. I live in Fort Wayne, it doesn't look nearly as congested and doesn't feel anywhere near as exciting as the oceans of concrete on opposing tips of the US. They have very distinct culture that a lot of people are familiar with. And there's the fact that people like to reference other stories.
Does Luke Skywalker count as a superhero @DrewVonAwesome?
Yes. Thank you.

That was what I assumed, but one of the Rules said all PCs must be force-sensitive, I wondered if this was an exception but figured I was better safe than sorry. Appreciate the insight.

I'll read the CSs, the Summary, and recent IC/OOC postings. Anything else critical for basic joining? If not I'll afterward see what I can make.
Hello, the name's Nightrunner. I am impressed by your organization and depth. But I am left reaching for a few details. Under recruitment wishes it says that you want a soldier or two. What exactly does that mean? A force-wielding non-jedi working with JPs and JRs? I could work with that. But I have a lot of catching up to do. I've read through the main Character tab's first post as well as the OOC and began the IC. But what all would you consider essential reading besides scanning the CSs?

Sorry if I'm asking any questions already answered clearly. Thank you for your time.
Here's an idea. Rather than a theme, the contest shares a plot.

A knight and his apprentice travel to a neighboring land before being captured. Their captors are of a different species than they, and have them vastly outgunned. Using their wits, the pair escapes before retrieving an artifact that grants them an unexpected edge. A battle breaks out and the master dies, but his student escapes before returning home and raising an army against their captors.

Now, what I'd like to see amongst entries would be variations on who exactly the pair are, their goals, the world around them, the details I was vague on, and the aftermath of course. I want to see different characters every time, but basically read the same story. Maybe this would be better suited as a stand-alone contest, but I'd like to see something to the effect of: Everyone uses the same plot.

Don't know what you'd call the theme.

Artistic Liberties? Outlines?
Probably, EZ.

I'm going to fill this out. Nothing can stop me. Prepare to be bored to death by my extraordinarily descriptive detail.
