Current I'm tempted to say "I've lost better friends than you" to a lote of people lately. I'm not sure what I ever want to say to the better friends that I've lost, though.

Bio

Twelve years ago, I said something on this website that continues to embarrassing me to this day. I was a stupid kid, like most, but I've never quite gotten the taste out of my mouth. Anyone who knew me at the time can tell you about it.

I love this website. I'm pretty sure my phylactery is stored wherever the webserver is and a significant chunk of me will just disappear when it ceases operation. Until then, it comforts me. I should go to the hardware store and paint my bedroom walls with the same soft, brownish grey that the background color has been for the last twelve years. Some of my friends can't wait for the site to go offline but I don't know of any other places that offer the same sense of community.

I'm an omni-gamer. I like board games, tabletop roleplaying games, admire tabletop war games, suck at riddles, and have an absurd library of video games. Survival horror is basically my favorite genre. Otherwise I'm a fan of esoteric, occult bullshit and punk rock. But disco's cool. Disco is what humanity sounds like when it chooses to be happy. Between you and I, I'd like to hope that the days of my life can sparkle like a disco ball, accreting like sparks from a grinder held up against the unwavering dark of deaths own shadow. Burn baby burn.

You and I, we're gonna die. We should be friends first, though. Write some checks we can't cash and make eachother smile. Make believe for a while.

Ohhhh. I'm sorry I misread what you said. At my school, I'm infamous for doing that in conversations. So my cap is firm for a long while? I'm fine with that. Can we go to Earth-3/Crime Syndicate's Earth sometime though?

Yes, and it may happen eventually. But nothing too soon.

Parallel universes are a ball-ache. I'd rather not, personally.

I understand where your coming from. That's why I nixed them early on for the foreseeable future.
Charlatan City

"People need dramatic examples to shake them out of apathy..." -Bruce Wayne

Nicknamed The City of Masks, Charlatan is infamous for the mass amounts of activism, corruption, and organized crime that stems from it. But, somewhere along the line--no one is quite sure exactly when, but at some point in the 21st Century, certain civilians from Charlatan City followed the example set by the legends that had been rooted in their culture. Much like the ancient greeks once had, the citizens of Charlatan emulated their heroes, and began a street-level war with an aim to purge the sin from their city.

"As a man, I'm flesh and blood, I can be ignored, I can be destroyed; but as a symbol... as a symbol I can be incorruptible, I can be everlasting." -Bruce Wayne

Using a combination of surprisingly accessible modern technology, soft skills, physical prowess, knowledge, blackmail, theatrical talent, deception, and genuine ferocity, the citizens of Charlatan have become masked vigilantes. The results of their actions vary greatly. Some of them have ended up dead as a result of their actions. Others have spearheaded small-scale groups of radically minded 'caped crusaders'.

"When the mob and the press and the whole world tell you to move, your job is to plant yourself like a tree by the river of truth, and tell the whole world 'No, You Move'" -Steve Rogers

Their efforts have been met by various types of resistance: both Physical and Legislative. Naturally, attempts to chip away at organized crime have resulted in the use of hitmen and mafiosos to "take 'em out." Some specialized hitmen have developed to nab 'capes.' At the same time, unorganized criminals and spree killers have stepped up their game a bit to give themselves an edge. All of it escalated until the local superheroes found their dark doppelgängers: Supervillains. Like a fire, they come in many forms, both chaotic and surgical, from many backgrounds with different motivations and techniques. Admittedly, some are better than others. Some are egotistical, some are belligerent, some are greedy, and some are pathetic. Others are sympathetic.

"All the ones who think they're above the law, or outside it, or beyond it. They know all the law is good for is to keep good people in line. And they all laugh. They laugh at the law. But they don't laugh at me." -Frank Castle

Due to excessive brutality of some 'superheroes', special laws were created in order to put the 'capes' in line. Vigilantism became illegal, defined as a felonious act after the lines between hero & villain were blurred by 'anti-heroes' and reluctant supervillains. Police actively seek out the masked crimefighters as earnestly as they prey upon drug rings and with the same predictable sense of duty as they express when looking away from corruption.

"You were always an inspiration to us... It can't end like this!" -Matthew Murdock

But, there is light at the end of the tunnel. In this game, you players will undertake the role of citizens within Charlatan City and play as characters who have a dual-identity of some sort. Under no circumstances will you play as Bruce Wayne or Peter Parker, but you can play as a character who purposefully imitates them and their alter egos at my discretion. In fact, I hope you guys make some interesting 'knock-offs', though OCs without any inspiration are also acceptable.

"With great power comes great Responsibility" -Ben Parker.

I thought you already had dropped Jericho? And I didn't say I was going to make you drop Cass. I jist meant you are seriously capped for a while.

So…we're in agreement on me dropping Joe? And on a sidebar, I really, really, really REALLY want a character from the Crime Syndicate's earth, SOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSO bad. I love that earth so much that, given the option, I'd move there. But given that I dropped Joe, I've decided to wait for a time. Let myself find my flow with Slade and Cassandra before picking up the Syndicate earth character, if at all. I want to be sure this is something lasting before rushing head first.

Sorry, dude. But your 'cap' is firm this time, especially since Cassie was granted under the pretense she would be supporting Joe. As for agreement, I didn't know I'd had any say in it.

are Scorpion and Rose the only TT left here?

Still got Ricochet, Wonder Girl (?), Red Hood, and Superboy. I think.

Y'know, since I wanted (and still want) this to be a game where everyone can just chill when they wanna write, I'mma take the twice a week post rule down and let everyone go at their own pace.
I have a new Daredevil app in the works. It's a lot closer to traditional DD than my last one, which was heartbreakingly denied.

So who's still here?

Well right now I guess the thing that's bothering me is my own envy of talented people. There's so many things out there (Specifically artistic endeavors) that I know for a fact I'm not able to do, however I really want to do them. Blech, I don't even know what I'm saying.

I feel your pain, man/woman. I have a hard time dealing with my own failures in self expression. But I try to avoid comparing myself to others in favor of a more self-guided route where I act as the judge, teacher, and student. Because, in a round about sort of way, everything we do in life pleases ourselves. So why not be upfront about it? That's a personal philosophy of mine.
Just for some background, I'm a teenage Mexican boy who lives in America, is fifteen years old, highly analytical and sarcastic, technically a genius, allegedly rebellious, apparently suave, something of a 'hipster', and an introvert.

What's bothering me is assorted girl troubles. On the one hand, I met a girl who is absolutely extraordinary. She is smart, gorgeous, fun, shares a similar background, musical taste, and social position with me. Plus, in an odd twist of fate, she and I share a name. But, I found out that she had a boyfriend after we'd been talking/flirting for two days straight 'til bed. And on top of that, she may be dying. So... there's that.

And, another girl I know is smart and pretty, though she is in no way a consolation for the aforementioned girl, I do actually like her. Her friends have been trying to set me up with her for the majority of the school year and, because I'm kinda shy about genuine affection, I've never taken a chance and asked her out. After basically being cornered in class on Friday, I was pressured to 'make a move'. Apparently someone thought I already had because I heard a rumor that had went around that we had just become a couple, when ironically I was planning on asking her in the very class period I'd heard the rumor. So I held off on actually asking her for the weekend. But now I'm unsure of what my next move should be.
