Initiate interest. I see you're a tabletop RPer. This is good.
Initiate skepticism. You should always care about your characters. Especially when you kill them. Not to bolster your ego, but to make them interesting to others.
Initiate acceptance. Not everyone will find the same things interesting.
Initiate morality crisis. Kill them all. Kill them politely. But do so interestingly. They further the plot, but they need to be cared about. Do not kill them politely.

EDIT: @Framing A Moose Thought about it. Not a fan of wasting people's turns, so yes, you found something, though who you found it for is up to you: some iron fencing had snapped off at some point and was lying on the nearby sidewalk. Memory remembers (I found this wording amusing, and kept it) that Xenon has an...issue with iron. Large quantities (like a wrought iron fence post) conducts his energy away from whatever he wants to teleport with him, and teleports with him instead.

Then again, it could be to his benefit, too, as that means he also potentially has a weapon. But there are DEFENSIVE uses for you guys, too.
