The pistol issue was I was thinking that a SR, an AR and side arm would be a bit cumbersome when traveling through the brush so he is trained in handgun proficiency just in case but considering he is a long ranged fighter who provides overwatch, he's not necessarily going to be in a lot of predictments that would require a pistol. COs are usually trianed in handguns anyway. Finally I thought haing a pistol on top of the other two weapons would be a bit much but I'll go ahead and add one because now thinking about it, it might be best.
For tattoos that's fine. They are of Archeron's "rangers". He will eventually get one of Anselmo but not right now of course.
For backstory, I was planning on adding in that he provoked the duvari when they spooked him. He shot at them, causing the duvari to get defensive and thus the shoostings begun, drawing attention of other creatures as the fighting moved through the city.
So I'll cut back the military jargon a bit.
