Bio

You showed up.

One way or another, you've arrived at my profile. You've taken a wrong turn in an alleyway because you didn't pay enough attention to your map. You've heard of something cool and new and thought maybe you'd see what all the fuss is about? Or maybe it is that you noticed like me updating my status or were lurking through an RP or something I am in and just kinda clicked my profile, that happens too. Regardless, you'll come to learn that your actions have consequences. Not this one since you can always just, like, leave.

I have a few names and I don't mind being called whatever you fancy at that given time. KingofTheSpectrum, FamishedPants, ChadChadlainn. Any derivative of these is fine as well. Most tend to use Pants, however. I'm nearing my thirties and enjoy games, anime, V-tubers, and visual novels. You can find my still-obsolete list here as it contains everything important on it.

As for games particularly, I am a huge fan of Devil May Cry, Metal Gear Solid, Nier and its sequel, FFXIV, and recently, Project Wingman.I tend to lean towards shooters and action games, but I have also wasted 8+ years on League of Legends. I think the only games I tend to avoid are card games and sports games, but there can always be exceptions.

For anime, I tend to watch whatever looks entertaining. It doesn't have to be good. I've seen a lot of the generic, poor-quality isekai harems that are out there. It's difficult to remember what I actually genuinely like, but Chaika the Coffin Princess comes to mind, as well as FMA: Brotherhood. I'm currently enjoying Tokyo Revengers.

I've read my fair share of visual novels, as my list would tell you. I can't recommend going through Muv Luv Extra/Unlimited, then playing Alternative enough! Big fan of Rance, Grisaia no Kajitsu, and Demonbane as well. I could probably go on and on about them, but I'll stop here.

Also, fuck you, Broken.

Shade

"Shine bright, lesser stars!"

Shade was not a delusional being who believed that her cutesy exterior was gaining anybody's actual trust. It was merely a defensive plating to deflect accusations away from her were they to be fired by the magical girl she had fought before. At least, there was the smallest chance this disguise could work and keep people from being hostile were she to bring up the one who originally sabotaged this vessel, and that's all Shade required. She did not need someone's trust, she did not desire their friendship, and she certainly expected no benefits other than no outright aggression towards her.

But deep inside, she truly resonated with a single individual aboard the ship. Enough so that, despite them not actually proclaiming what was on their mind, Shade understood them perfectly. And that person was none other than the costumed Alexander Shields, though she was not currently privy to his name. The way he appeared to be clueless as to whom he should flock to was, in no uncertain terms, the most relateable thing she'd seen in another individual that wasn't Veronica. It was endearing to the point that had Shade been a normal girl, she might've swooned right then and there. Of course, perhaps to the untrained eye this simply wasn't as obvious as it was to her. She had a habit of tracking just about anything in her immediate area and keeping tabs, so that might've played into her realization that she and he were kindred spirits in a sense.

What a terrible crew this is. How do they expect anything to get done at this rate?

She mentally stated a simple truth. They really were a mess. She'd been thinking that a lot already, but it was so blatant it was hard not to keep realizing this. Shade noticed a lot of things right now, but Alexander's deal was probably the most pointless yet interesting thing that didn't immediately pertain to the fight that was going on. Portals being flung everywhere and the others reacting to their newfound foe was not something that required wits or years of training to spot. It was pretty damn obvious and she most definitely did not miss it. The problem was that she had no way of assisting these individuals in the fight while all that stuff was going on. Without her blade (even with it, honestly) her involvement would be a detriment. She would be at a huge risk of friendly fire by all the commotion, so instead Shade assumed a supportive role in this case.

Drawing closer to the portal-flinging Mariette, she equipped her fists and merely waited while watching the fight unfold. If there was an attempt to attack Mariette, Shade would assist in her defense.

Shade

"1v1 me bro, tee hee~"

Shade simply had no reason to attempt to evade the portal that opened, and so she wound up aboard the vessel alongside the other injured girl. Having experienced similar situations like this, Shade brilliantly smiled like her disguise suggest she would. The fact that she was surrounded by potential enemies was not lost on her, but she understood that in order to keep this rather weak, stretched persona viable, she could not afford to give any true indicators that she was not who she claimed to be. Thankfully, in a non-combat scenario, suppressing her emotions was as easy as breathing for her.

With nothing forcing her to the ground, the magical girl stood up, though she favored the uninjured leg. "Ah, I'm so dirty now!" she complained with a cute pout while inspecting the bloodied clothes she now wore. Given that they were black along with the blood, it wasn't actually that noticeable in most areas. Her skin, however...

"But thanks to whoever helped me, I really was in a bit of a bind." Shade noticed there was just a puddle that once was the girl that had fired herself out of a cannon for the assist. How comedic.

There are only two people who should really pose a risk to blowing my cover. I should just avoid them.

By the time they arrived at what apparently was the group's destination, Shade had healed the damage sustained in the last fight. The situation on the boat...thing seemed tense, and even though she was a stranger aboard, nobody had come to really interact with her, which was a little bit disappointing given her effort into the character she had built. But the less amount of story building she had to do, the better. By the way they interacted with each other, Shade determined that this ragtag bunch wasn't the most trusting lot, even with each other. Would they be able to achieve their goal, this way?

Shade owned no interest in the matter herself. If these people lived or died, it did not bother her now that Veronica had confirmed she could return to her own world. But she did find it strange that she couldn't figure the exact relationship these people held to Veronica's, no, The Ebon Mint's goals. The earlier sabotage made it seem as though the Ebon Mint would benefit from their destruction, however, Shade was advised against killing the captain. The captain must have had some kind of usefulness to the Ebon Mint. Especially, Shade thought, if she was being asked to trail the ship even going into this Overcity place.

Is the Captain perhaps a member of the Ebon Mint?

This question popped into Shade's mind. For the Ebon Mint to desire somebody to live enough to protect it, it needed to have its use. A common 'use' one might have to the Ebon Mint would be servitude. Shade knew that better than anybody else. They valued their pawns enough to threaten those who accidentally dispose of them, so long as the pawn still had its use, that is. Assuming the deduction is fact, Shade imagined the very horrible and awkward possible outcome to the sabotage where she eliminated the pirate.

That perhaps would not have been a debt she would get the chance to repay.

"Ha..." Shade sighed, as if bored.

She hated not knowing the exact situation during prolonged operations like this. The fact that she did not have intel on every living person aboard this ship irritated her, but they apparently wanted to engage in a very serious fight with another being who was not going to be a walk in the park, supposedly. Any mistakes here could be her last. Though that was par for the course with her occupation, dying in a place that wasn't even Earth... weighed just a bit more heavily on her.

Eventually, the crew had bunched together to discuss their plan of attack. Though she paid mind to the plan itself, she was far more interested in something else. Shade had limited knowledge on what each girl's capabilities were, but any mention of them was instantly remembered on the off chance she drew their aggression in the future, even if it was merely a small bit of information. She understood Information was important against a potential opponent.

Knowing how your opponent works and when to engage was a potential game-changer for certain foes. You are never really thrown into an arena with somebody and made to fight straight-on, at full strength. That kind of stuff generally only happened in fiction. In reality, there were always modifies that could shift a battle in one direction, heavy or softly. A man with a gun did not beat the man with a knife 100 percent of the time, but he did have an advantage that was difficult to overcome. In her human life, Shade had overcome this through stealth and clever use of cover. But Shade had never found herself in those scenarios willingly. A gun was preferable to a blade, at least when you were a human. Now... well, things were a bit different. The important aspect is to know that, no matter what, if there's a single percent chance of one side winning, they CAN win. So theorizing can only go so far.

Still, Shade bothered to do it if only to mentally prepare for the general outcome. And she currently did so now.

The best candidate, right now, was Mariette. Shade could only go off of what she had personally seen, but it appeared as though she had a good control over the size of her portals as her main power. Shade was able to observe this during the ride, spotting the eyes the girl had created along the way through her own special eyes. Given that kind of ability... Shade would have absolutely no problem dealing with her were they in close proximity when starting the fight if the scenario had them both at full strength and no interference.

In a ranged fight where Mariette had no proper knowledge of Shade's own abilities, Shade could still claim victory with relative ease if Mariette made one very critical mistake. But it would be nowhere near as "guaranteed" as close-range.

And if Mariette started the fight at a range and with information pertaining to Shade's actual capabilities, that wasn't something Shade desired. It would not likely go well for her unless Mariette was a fool and unable to realize the proper precautions she could take to prevent retaliation.

It was to be expected, but any situation where she could easily see herself not "winning" was always upsetting. She might be a sore loser at heart. But she had not too long to dwell on such thoughts. People were getting excited in various ways involving the plan that had been laid before them. Shade had her own qualms about the plan, particularly with whom she was to be paired with, but she also did not want to draw very much attention to herself. She was not, after all, a true member of this bunch. Merely a random girl who appeared and offered help. It might be more in character to do as instructed, but if most of the crew seemed to be against the initial plan, then she supposed she could get away with voicing concerns.

"Eheh~ I'm glad that you find me dazzling, but" Shade giggled like she was embarrassed and placed a finger to her lips. "My ideal stage lets me get a bit closer to my fans! Being out in the open isn't personal enough!" she claimed. "I give a mean autograph, after all~" she punched the inside of her hand to emphasize her point.

Out of the two plans laid before them, Shade favored Makoto's just a bit more. Had she more influence in this group, she'd ask everybody to give a general idea of their capabilities and then formulate a plan around that. It would serve her own goals, of course, but also allow her to identify which people should go where. A plan needed absolutes. Leaders were supposed to give this. A group without an actual leader was bound to fail somewhere along the line. Shade was not confident in either plan, even if they had been the most brilliant thing she'd ever heard. Because a plan was only good if people listened to it. Could this group settle on one thing and go with it? The assumption was that this was unlikely. With nobody to say "You will" rather than "You should" with enough legitimacy that people would listen, they may as well be going in with no plan.

But this was merely her opinion as someone who once called themselves a part of a military. What did she know?

"What if we---" A very loud shriek erupted from a nearby location, cutting Shade off from what she was about to say. Were they already under attack? It was probably a smart move by whomever their foe was to take the initiative against such a force. What little formation they had could easily be undone. Shade, like the others, quickly sought out the source of the scream due to her own unfamiliarity with the crew and unwillingness to be the first into the fray, Shade's immediate reaction to this was to prepare for a fight by clenching her fists and, unlike last time, utilizing stasis on her hands as well so that she didn't break her hands each and every time she smacked against something hard. A nice touch that was missing earlier, but she chalked that up to inexperience with this style of fighting. It was certainly a bold thing to do earlier, but it so far had worked.

Zachary Ackerson

Zachary was made to sit with a simple order and an even simpler push towards the seat that Isaiah had placed behind him. His complete inability right now to resist even if he had desperately wanted to, had reminded him of that anime Broken loves about the yasha of inu the serious injury he suffered. His knees felt so terribly weak, and his arms felt of spaghetti. Yeah, he really wasn't fit enough to be out and about like he was now, but Zach wasn't a smart man.

"Uh?" Ice apparently knew not of giving someone space, as he invaded Zach's rather quickly. "...You want me to see a duck?" Given the context of the statement, Zachary could only assume the lingo was something weird people used to refer to a medical professional, so his delivery of that line wasn't too serious. Still, he had not heard it before and was completely confident that's what it was, but Ackerson really wanted to believe that Ice had not gone off the deep end and recommended he visit a duck for help. Otherwise... well, it'd probably be best if Zach left right now. Instead, he chose to remain very still while Ice checked him, either due to a fear of upsetting the man or because it really was that hard to move in his weakened state.

He felt relatively uncomfortable with all of this. Zachary was a man who was never found of physical contact or being too close to strangers. He also didn't exactly have a good childhood so doting parents were never a thing. He was unable to discern if Ice was doing this because he was worried or simply because a dead Zach would be a nuisance. He'd have rubbed the back of his neck if he could before he spoke. "Do forgive me for being like this," he apologized. In a whisper almost too low for Ice himself to hear, he added, "... I really don't want to risk falling asleep right now."

As if he hadn't said it, Zachary strained a smile to Alice while he held the ice that Ice had given him on his head. "See, that's more normal. But peanut butter?" he looked to what Alice had set beside the pancakes. "I really was only curious about what other people think, but if there's some here maybe I'll..." he stopped right there. If he thought that way, then the enemy would win. He wouldn't want to fall for some trap THAT guy laid out for him. "On second thought, I'd be better off not trying it."

It was around this time that Alice had begun speaking to Ice, and that someone new entered the area. Did they introduce a new Infinite while he was unconscious? Who the fuck was this? "Oh, hello ne---" he'd been cut off by her immediate choking upon noticing him. Why did she think he was dead? Did she, wait, that voice sounded vaguely familiar.

Wait, that was a mask and not her face!?

"Mercy has a face? What the shit." he was visibly stunned at the very idea and accidentally said this aloud. It wasn't his fault though. The world was a scary place. Of course, he didn't get too much time to reel in horror at the revelation. Much like Ice, she took to examining and his injuries. For some reason, all these people inspecting him was starting to make him feel embarrassed. Quite obviously, he hadn't taken a shower and now people were all close and getting much too friendly for his taste. Would they give him cruel nicknames, now?

...I'd like to imagine my fellow Infinites are more mature than that.

A small flashback to the trial he'd participated in immediately dashed those hopes, however. He recalled when Jezebel got excited during the trial, particularly towards Krista. Things were said. Bad things. Things, Zach thought, that weren't necessary. And Zachary felt Jezebel was a more mature person than he. He thought the world of his first friend. So if SHE would call names... then that meant...

The mental image Zachary had of himself looked exactly like Edvard Munch's famous painting.

Zachary fabricated a smile and did not move a muscle while Mercy examined him, even more so than Ice. Things would come to pass and he would not be called anything weird. Ideally. When she finished, she suggested he go get some rest, much like Ice. "...Ahaha." Zach laughed nervously in response to Mercy's prodding. "A smart person would rest, wouldn't they?"

Zachary turned back to the pancakes once people had started giving him some space. He was blown away. Perhaps it was just because he was really friggin hungry, but these pancakes looked like little pieces of heaven. He wasted no time in digging in, forgetting the peanut butter was even there. Hell, he wasn't even sure if there was syrup or not. There was a fork there, of course, but it should be noted that he might not even have noticed if it weren't. "Zachary ate the pancakes" would be a boring, improper term to describe what transpired. It was more like "Zachary genocided the pancakes and their remains, leaving nothing left for future civilizations to even study and realize that they existed. They were truly gone from this world." would fit a lot better.

Food in the stomach was good.

"...I might be convinced there's more to cooking than instant noodles now." he smiled towards the chef. "Thank you for those. Really. They hit the spot."

But then it was that Noel Hawthorne, the Infinite Reporter appeared. Zachary felt uncomfortable. There was not the distraction of an impending fight this time. Doubtful that the reporter herself noticed just how different it was, but had anybody else who was speaking to him before been paying attention, Zachary took a softer, more submissive tone as he spoke. "Yeah, I'm not done just yet." he gave a soft laugh as he listened to her story. "I don't think you've told me very much at all, honestly. But that sounds... interesting."

Zach had a few seconds to think as Noel shifter her attention to Ice. Things had become a lot more stressful than they already were. Zachary pondered the thought of getting up and leaving but realized that he was much too weak to do so without having someone assist him. At least, it would require him to hug walls and take forever. And it wasn't like he had anything against Noel herself, it was just...

Noel returned to speaking to him, asking him a question he hadn't really thought of the answer for just yet. But that's because it was unnecessary. He knew what was going to happen. Up until now, he'd been attempting to avoid eye contact with her where possible. But after she asked that question, he focused his eye on her, lost any form of body language that would suggest nervousness, and spoke. "I'll need to get out of here and recover," he explained. He spoke in a strong, willful tone. "And then I'll train and it'll simply be as it was. A single eye is just a small hurdle." he stated this so matter-of-factly that one would be forgiven if they compared it to him reading a weather forecast. It didn't even seem like arrogance. But just as swiftly as that confidence came, it disappeared and was replaced with a streak of crimson across his face.

How embarrassing!

After many situations where he normally would've, Zachary finally rubbed the back of his neck. His tone softened, just like before. Speaking about his archery really was weird with him. "Err, at the very least, I don't intend on letting these damned robots rob me of something like that."
Zachary Ackerson

Zachary Ackerson had done it. He had survived the Night of Carnage after being assaulted by one of the evil robot sisters and come out without a scratch. Well, in his dream that was the case. The truth of the matter was that he suffered a critical injury that would have lasting consequences. This particular injury affected Zach perhaps more than it'd affect anybody else in the group. He looked around and noticed he'd been returned to his room. It was quite convenient that their rooms were what they were. He was not wearing all of his clothes, which did worry him a little, but until he knew exactly who had operated on him, he wasn't going to get too red in the face over it. He figured he would get a change of clothes, so he tried getting up.

*Thump*

His vision in the one good eye he had left blurred for a second upon nastily hitting his head on a nearby wall, but thankfully, he had done so on the opposite side of his head. Still, it hurt, though the pain wasn't too serious compared to the throbbing he felt on the back of his head. Had he hit it? Perhaps there was a bruise or something? And that's not all, he felt somewhat drowsy and weak. And his stomach was yelling at him, too. Boy, what a mess he was.

"...what the hell happened?"

It wasn't like he had retrograde amnesia or anything like that, he was just confused. He knew he'd been grabbed by one of the sisters and she'd done this to him, but he didn't remember hurting his head. Perhaps that'd happened after he'd lost consciousness? Did he have a concussion? There were a lot of questions he could ask, but to be honest, they just weren't that important to him. He was awake, which meant he was alive, which meant that weird dream he had was nothing more than that --- a weird dream. Nobody was going to take him to some weird, cheap 'happiness' before he was done doing what he needed to do. And for that he was thankful.

Still, he didn't like this new impairment. He raised a hand to the place where his eye had once been but stopped just before touching the small piece of fabric that was the eyepatch he now wore. It felt silly. He'd always associated eye injuries with war due to movies and the like, so to have one himself... felt kinda cool, too. At least, when he didn't think about how it might affect his ability to shoot arrows.

No, thinking about that is almost as bad as when the other Zach comes out... almost.

Waifu-rating in this scenario was bad. Very bad.

His mind was best placed on other things, like what he should do right now. Honestly, he felt like shit and it was likely his doctor would advise him not to move around so much. He probably needed rest. Actually, moving around at all was likely a very stupid idea. Was his wound even fully tended to? Maybe not. But unless Jezebel was here to dote on him he couldn't see himself sitting around. His belly was rumbling and he hadn't yet had a nice cup of coffee. Obviously, there was only one thing left to do after he changed, and it wasn't "be a smart person and let yourself heal".

...

...

...

Being that he was still not fully recovered, Zachary found it rather hard to walk straight. He experienced more than one moment where he almost completely lost his footing and fell to the floor and to anybody watching him, he might appear to be a drunkard. He wasn't sure why, but he had not run into anybody in the hallways as he made it to the dining room. Ignoring that fact, he pushed opened the door rather sloppily and stepped inside.

Jeez, since when was this place such a chore to get to?

He wondered this while forcing himself through the restaurant, towards the kitchen. Now that he thought about it, perhaps the break room would have made more sense to go to? He wasn't exactly the most capable of chefs and he was really not feeling it, so making something complicated (that is, anything that isn't microwavable) was currently beyond him. Yet, as he thought about turning around, he heard voices up ahead and things sounded... tense. With worry in his heart and definitely not twisted motivations like secretly hoping people would take pity on his poor self and treat him, Zach decided he could press onwards!

"Right, sorry..." was the only thing Zachary clearly caught, so he wasn't sure exactly what had happened between the two. Maybe a ship was about to set sail, only to be sunk just before it left port? Maybe one of them farted? Ideally, he would not be walking into that hot box, but Zach was going to roll the dice right now and hope they fell on a favorable reason for this atmosphere. Zach entered the kitchen. Sadly, he wasn't too stealthy what with his inability to walk precisely how he desired so they probably heard him just before he did so. He was unlikely to spook them with his presence.

Unless they thought he was a ghost, maybe.

"Yo." he casually greeted the two with a quick wave, while steadying himself with his other arm. Hopefully, his behavior would suggest that he was fine so that they wouldn't ask him how he was feeling. He really didn't want to have to lie, nor did he want to think about what he'd lost right now. Focusing on other things, no matter how stupid, was better right now and Ackerson had yet to consider the possibility that other Infinites had been seriously injured, let alone killed. Somehow, he felt he should probably steer the conversation elsewhere. Last night was probably going to be a landmine for everybody, not just him. "Pancakes, huh?" he looked directly towards Ice and gave an innocent smile. Maybe he'd be nice and share? Come to think of it, had he even personally spoke to Ice yet? He hadn't exactly been too chatty with Alice, either. They could both be dickheads in a normal setting for all he was aware.

Now he was kinda nervous. Social interaction and all that, only not with his horrible, no-good public mask. He needed to act truthfully to himself in order to gauge whether he and others could be friends. So what was he dealing with here?

Alice was an odd one but Zachary assumed, given her talent, that she'd probably 'seen some shit'. Going off movie stereotypes and all was something he both really good at doing and not doing. He knew not to, but it was often more fun to ignore that and do it anyways. He now had a picture in his head of explosions and one-handing an LMG in some trenches somewhere. Man, Alice sure was a badass. No, wait, that was Rambo. She was the Infinite Recon, no? So she was supposed to be the silent type. More like a ninja, except modern! Yeah, Zach actually had no clue, he only knew what her title was. The only thing he knew after studying her was that she wasn't exactly the most sociable people here. And neither was he.

What about Matthews?

Given his own upbringing, Zachary was really not one to care too much about Ice's own previous lifestyle. The reveal was somewhat shocking during the trial (even if it was hidden away by irritation by that point), sure, but it certainly hadn't made him anymore unapproachable than if he was simply a blood donor. The biggest problem with Ice was that Zach didn't recall the man being too much of a speaker an----

Wait, both of these people were untalkative, typically. Also, Zach was bad at doing the talking thing beyond the bare minimum! These two were both ice cubes of sorts. Cold and quiet. Hard to interact with unless you had some important goal in mind, like the NoC. How was he supposed to strike up a conversation with these two double-teaming him!? Why did it have to be them!?

REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE, coming here was a mistake!

All this thinking was just getting to be a pain, so Zach stopped doing that. Hopefully, it would lead to a desirable social outcome, and not just have them run away. Only time would tell, though. "So, quick question to you two since it's relevant: Do you guys eat pancakes with peanut butter on them? I knew this one guy who SWORE by it and it really struck me as odd ever since that people do that. But maybe I'm the weird one? Thoughts?"
Don't you fucking threaten me.
Shade

"How rude! Just when I was getting into it."

Given the rather rude interruption of her bow, Shade would have to admit that not everybody here wanted an encore. If she had cared what these mindless, faceless beasts wanted, then she might have felt the least bit offended at their incredibly bad taste in music. But the truth was, she couldn't care less about what her prey desired. Only that it die like it was supposed to. That said, it would be rather difficult to kill these things if they killed her first. She should probably find a way to escape from this weird tongue-reel.

Shade was not actually a brute. It would be nice if she could simply pick up this huge monster and throw it. But such strength escaped her. She also did not currently have access to her dagger and so could not easily cut the tongue. Even though she had only just stopped using it, she already missed her trusty blade. Of course, if someone like her was too reliant on one thing, that was bad. She had to be able to adapt. And it wasn't like she hadn't ever been in a situation where she only had use of her fists, too.

Not that she wanted to think about the situations that she was in when she was weaponless before.

"Watch where you're putting that tongue, you creep!" she was in a rather awkward situation. Attempting to jump would only lead to her landing in the void that was that creature's mouth much quicker. That was most likely a very bad thing. The longer she was constrained by the beast, the weaker she felt. What a horrendous thing. Her performance was perhaps a bit too flamboyant, she should watch that in the future, assuming there was one for her. "If I could have some assistance with the tongue, I'd certainly think about giving an autograph, eheh~!"

Currently, Shade was attempting to separate herself from this beast by slamming down on the tongue with all her might. She wasn't sure if it'd work, but that was the best she could manage currently.

Eye can see why you would say that.
Zachary Ackerson

That was it! They had done... something! They were in a position that was better than what they were in before and that could potentially be used to gain momentum in this battle! Zachary couldn't help but grin at the sight of the robot bleeding. He imagined this is what everybody from the movie 300 felt like when Xerxes was injured by Leonidas, though he didn't have any desire to end up like the Spartan king.

"Press the attack!" Zach instructed, intent on re-engaging Nariko with his bow again. If they were quick, then none of the other sisters could reach them! Their chances only decrease with the addition of more of these chassis! Believing this to be the best course of action, Zachary advanced again with no hesitation. Fortune favors the bold, or whatever the saying was.

In his signature one-motion shot, he nocked an arrow and fired it at the weakened sister, intent on keeping the pressure up. The small amount of damage Nariko had received didn't slow her sword swings. She had discarded the buckets of water and now had all eight of her swords at her command. It was difficult to get a shot past her, but with the other attacking, Zachary knew he'd have a chance.

”Ohz nohz!” Alexandria came running around the corner, followed shortly by Calvin.

Shit, that's...!

Spotting the additional sister, Zachary put his entire being into stopping his advance. Unfortunately, he stumbled in the process and nearly tripped. He simply wasn't expecting her arrival at that time. It was certainly the worst moment for him, and even after he recovered, he had been frozen to the spot in confusion as to what he should do next given the additional threat.

Alexandria lowered Aleecia to the floor and stood up again, still holding the blind girl's hand. ”Just you watch Calvin, I'll stop everyone from getting booped!” She hurled the spear with all of her might, and it looked like it was headed straight for Zachary!

Thankfully, while he had more or less been a deer caught in the headlights, Zach was entirely focused on the sister that threw the spear and hurriedly made a motion to get out of its way. He wasn't going to take a spear thrown by a robot like a champ, he imagined.

But the spear was not aimed at Zachary. Behind him, Willow had her sword out and was prepared to cleave through someone. Her mighty steed allowed her to approach the infinites before they could even take notice of her. But Willow was not oblivious to Alexandria's attack. She leaned out of the way, but not without losing her sword. ”Whah!?” The horse steered off course, but Zachary was directly in its path. Willow took notice of the archer and reached for him. Up until now, Zachary hadn't realized how large her hands were.

Rolling out of the would certainly have been more than enough to keep him out of the literal hands of the enemy. However, Zachary Ackerson was no soldier. He was not used to dealing with a constant stream of unexpected encounters. Taking in all this new information was not an action he could do instantaneously. And so, when he heard the spear hitting something of Willow's, it had alerted him to look behind him, but that's all he could really manage. The sight of a robot and her steed approaching him was comprehended, but realizing he needed to hop out of the way... well, he didn't have that extra second to do so.

Willow’s icy grip was unpleasant, as was the pain that came with it. Being grabbed by a horse-riding robot hurt and the impact had cost him his bow, though he did still the arrow from earlier tightly in his grasp.

...Shit! At this rate, I'll...!

With willow's hand around Zachary's neck, she was able to pull him up onto the horse and across her lap. Willow was going to drive her scepter into Zachary's face but the archer was able to block it by getting his arm up in front of his face. This caused the scepter to snap in half. With his other arm, Zachary attempted to stab the robot in any vital point he could find. There wasn't much to work with, The doll joints didn't have many openings where he could jam the arrow. But he attempted to go for the robot's glowing red eyes. The agitated carnage sister dropped what remained of her scepter so that she could take hold of Zachary's wrist when he tried to stab her. Her grip was a lot stronger than that of humans, there was no escaping it. Willow released Zachary's neck and placed her hand on the side of his face. Her thumb slid over his cheek. ”Not, this, time.” Willow slid her thumb into Zachary's eye socket and dug it deep. His screams did nothing to stop the pain, and he continued to hemorrhage blood over the carnage sister's arm before suddenly going silent.

Jezebel, Faith, and Ice came just in time to see Willow and Zachary running towards them. Jezebel had started running towards them as soon as she heard Zachary's scream. “Zachary!?” she called out, but she was too far away to do anything. Willow rolled the archer off of her horse and turned around to continue fighting while he landed with a very audible thud. Jezebel ran up to Zachary's side and shook him. “Zachary, answer me” Her breathing was audible through her clenched teeth. “Zachary... No...”

Zachary wasn't moving...
Silhouette

"A shift in tone is nothing beyond me."

Even with the darkness of the surrounding area as her ally, Sil was unable to remain completely hidden from the party aboard the ship. It seemed at least some of the crew owned enhanced vision that made such a task all but impossible to traditional stealth methods. However, at the very least, while others had managed to spot her, she also saw them. She made a mental note to remember exactly who had seen her and would make use of this in the future, should she need to.

She was lucky those who had spotted her had decided not to pursue any aggressive actions towards her. Sil had been about to launch a preemptive strike against Libby, but the girl had stopped approaching her just in time and winked at the assassin. A very flamboyant way to threaten someone, or so Sil thought. But the message got across. There were those who knew she was there and it was likely they'd stop being as friendly as they had been, were she to attempt something. That wouldn't stop Sil had she desired to 'do something', but she would take the information into account when doing so. And getting into a fight, especially with so many unknown foes in an unknown area, was not exactly the best idea. She wouldn't do it if she did not have to.

Eventually, when it had finally seemed as though nobody else was going to quite literally magically notice Sil's presence, she put a fair bit more distance between herself and the vessel and took the time to quietly speak into the strange artifact that Veronica had prepared just before her departure for this mission.

"This is Silhouette." she began. "I have reached the other side of the portal."

Veronica did not respond right away. A ship with a bunch of strangers had just disappeared in front of a bunch of police officers. Since Veronica was pretending to be law enforcement, she had to multitask. Sil could hear Veronica talking with some officers before responding. “I expected nothing less from you.” Sil could hear a car door slamming. Veronica must have gotten inside a police car. “You were discovered during the last operation, which means that if the wrong people see you, you will surely be attacked. But I think we can count on poor communication in this group. At least for the time being. So long as you don't encounter the cyborg or the captain, you should be in the clear. Neither of them should have a way to magically perceive you.” Veronica stopped communicating with Sil to make a report on a com radio. Something about a “magic trick” to make a ship disappear. “Status report, What's happening on that side of the portal?”

"Nothing of intere--" Silhouette's report was immediately cut short by the howls erupting from the trees in the distance. Sil did not speak for a moment as she rechecked the surrounding area, quickly darting about and surveying the exact size of the 'force' that was about fall upon not only the Earth Bastion, but also likely her due to her proximity to it.

When she was done, Sil kneeled down and placed a finger to her ear as she once again spoke to Veronica. "Monsters have appeared and almost entirely surrounded the ship and are attempting to attack. They're sizable, lack a face, and number just a couple short of a dozen. I can potentially avoid them if I move towards the city." Sil spoke quickly, attempting to get as much information out to Veronica as she could in the quickest time possible.

"That is...if that is your desire."

“You could, but you would likely be spotted. Unless you can confirm the direction of the ship, going to the city is not advised.” There was a pause. Veronica was thinking. “However, this could prove to be an interesting opportunity. Only the cyborg and captain will see you as a threat.” Sil could hear Veronica start a car. “Might it be possible to attack one of the creatures? Preferably where everyone can see you?”

"...you would like me to reveal myself and assist them?" Veronica was sure to pick up on Silhouette's confusion, even if it manifested only as a slightly-delayed response. Sil looked towards the beasts that were speeding straight at the ship. It was about now that the crew had begun to retaliate to their advance. It surely would not be difficult to fight where it would be obvious to the crew, but that was sure to draw the attention of the two she did not want seeing her.

Another moment passed before Sil answered.

"I am capable of doing so, yes."

“I understand how you feel silhouette.” There was a change in Veronica's tone. Or maybe it was just interference. “But you aren't responsible for what your fellow twin soul has done. While they linger here, you've been stuck in the over city. But it's just the two of them that your other half has crossed. If you help them, they will believe you. ” Veronica snorted. “A group of disorganized magical girls is sure to appreciate all the help they can get, even if it's suspicious. Is that not correct? ”

Sil pondered the idea for a moment. Fabricating a false Persona to achieve her goals? That certainly would not be the first time someone had asked her to do that, and it probably wouldn't be the last. Given the status of the girls, the plan had a fair chance of working. Although if she remained exactly as is, it would be harder to get the people who had seen Sil before reaching Overcity to believe it. She would need to create a disguise.

Silhouette summoned ChronoRend and cut a sizable amount of her long hair from her head, leaving it shorter. Her regeneration allowed her to fine-tune certain aspects of her body she normally wouldn't be able to. Perhaps the silliest utilization of this power would be the ability to regrow hair at an alarming rate. This was both less impressive and less useful than regrowing limbs, but it was still a way she could apply her strange body. She would never say it, but she loved her long hair, despite it technically being a liability on the battlefield. So not having to wait an extended period of time to get it back was nice.

Moving on, Sil had her weapon, ChronoRend, vanish and then pressed her hands together and used her ability to place things in stasis to make her gloves a temporary weapon. The cyborg had seen her blade, so it would be best not to use it in front of the others and so long as she didn't remove the stasis, the gloves could play a convincing role as her own weapon, being just as durable as her blade. Unfortunately, she was limited in her damage potential compared to using her knife, but sacrifices must be made. She'd be dangerous enough.

Finally, she summoned her mask. It was always a part of her outfit, but she never used it due to how pointless it really was. Her coat stood out, so wearing a mask would not prevent someone from identifying her based on that. And, passively, people tend to forget about her face anyway, so the result in linking Sil's Magical Girl form to her human one would not change with the addition of it. But, since she was working with what she had, this would do fine. The idea was that she was part of a Twin Soul, so appearances being similar is simply par for the course. And it wasn't impossible for both twins to own the same outfit with tiny modifications.

With this, "Shade" was complete. A girl who utilized her magic and fists to beat foes down, and who had been separated from her twin soul a while back. Given the world they lived in, that story wasn't even that strange.

"It seems like an acceptable course of action." Sil eventually answered. "I assume this means you would like me to continue assisting them for the time being? It will not be easy to make contact without breaking cover."

“That is why I chose you for this mission.”
Sill was getting ready to depart when Veronica spoke up again.”If things get too hectic, do flee to the over city. There are people there who can help you return. ”

Silhouette, or rather Shade, stood up. "Acknowledged. I will contact you with updates when I am able to."

With these final words to her employer, she took off.

I guess I should also make minor adjustments to my attitude as well.

The performer's entrance was played in forte.

A roaring boom that could nearly burst eardrums erupted from a position the girl had been in mere moments ago. A moment of silence chased after but was just as soon interrupted by a strike achieving a wonderous fortissimo. In an instant, one of the advancing monsters had, at the very least, been thrown violently to the ground if not outright removed. Landing on the ground with a stylish spin and a wide grin, Shade bowed to her audience, those aboard the Earth Bastion. She had taken extra steps to ensure she was as obvious as she could physically be.

But what had even been done?

The actions taken to reach this dramatic entrance were almost childishly simple. Shade had merely run, jumped, and then punched one of the beasts. The actions alone were nothing complicated. But to reach the crescendo that it did, well, that was a different story. Shade was beyond human, certainly, but to jump with enough force to not only lift her into the air as high as it did but to also essentially create a sonic boom was not typical for her. The second she had done so, her legs had broken. And once she was mid-air, she had to land a strike with her fist at a speed far beyond the norm for her. At best, anybody attempting to observe her during this would have seen a blur, even with enhanced senses. Needless to say, at this speed, landing the strike with her fist did cause a large amount of recoil damage to her arm. But by the time she'd reached the ground, everything was back to normal.

Not the most efficient use of her mana, but it most certainly did what it was supposed to.

"You guys look as though you could use some help, and I don't mind playing an encore, eheh~!"
