Hello ladies and gents and others! This is my very unofficial interest check for an upcoming roleplay that I will GM! Please keep in mind that this idea is very rough around the edges, and it will be my first time GMing, so any help will be much appreciated <3

What in the hell is this?!
This will be a very simplistic slice-of-life, high school-themed roleplay. Yes, I know, there are already plenty of them out there and this is most likely one of the most unoriginal ideas on the planet, but I wanted this to be a very basic starting point that will hopefully blossom into something that me and, more importantly, you will find to be a very valuable roleplaying experience. Instead of this being a large group roleplaying with a variety of cliques, we will be focusing on a group of 7 or so students that, no matter how different, are somehow a pretty close friendship group.

The roleplay will, of course, be mostly character driven, but i will be putting into place a system in which the plot will loosely revolve around that I will explain soon. The setting is one of the things I may need some help with. It would be ideal for this to be based in a typical American high school, however, since I am from the UK, I am not too familiar with the school system in place in the USA. I'm also hazy on the age group of the characters, as I am unsure of whether this will be a long term roleplay or not (hopefully it will be).

All jokes aside, this won't be a huge group roleplay with like 20 participants - I'd quite like 10 characters to be the absolute maximum, and I'm afraid i will be quite strict on that. You will not be accepted on a first-come first-serve basis; I value quality far more than speed. I'm working on a Character Sheet template now, and any help would be welcome!

It would also be great if someone would be willing to volunteer to take the role of Co-GM, to call me stupid when I'm wrong and do all the work for me when I'm away ^^ it won't be a huge task, but I'd like to be able to trust them _{with my life} with a little bit of work to keep me right and the roleplay a happy fun place.

What is this system you speak of?
Mwahaha now for the fun part.

To spice things up a bit, each character will be randomly assigned a secret. Once your CS has been accepted, I will be sending you through PM a short paragraph describing this secret. It will be your responsibility to weave this secret into your character and their actions - and it will be your duty to try and ensure nobody finds out. After a while, I will send out another round of PM's giving each character a crisis in which they must play out. They won't be huge-ass scenarios where someone dies or whatever, but i think it'll be interesting to see how each character will play out their given circumstances.

This aspect of the roleplay is still pretty undeveloped, so critique is encouraged so that I can make it as suited as possible to everyone taking part.

Joshua Stephenson

Name: Joshua Stephenson
Age; Nineteen years old

In-Depth Appearance:
Josh's looks can be somewhat intimidating. He has a toned physique, but is in no way buff due to how lanky he is, towering over most at 6'1". The pale pallor of his skin makes it seem as if he's never actually seen the sun, and he has a prominent structure with sharp cheekbones and a strong jawline.

His hair is longer than most guy's and is, most of the time, a blonde mess that he constantly finds himself pushing out of the way. Hand in hand with his fair hair are the cool blue eyes he has, skeptical and almost always half-lidded in a lazy expression. The hollows of his cheeks suggest malnourishment, but most know that this guy could eat a whole cow and not put on a pound.

Joshua prefers the loose, dark garments that are typically associated with antisocial teenagers. Josh walks with a relative amount of swagger, but makes sure not to slouch - he makes more of an effort than it may seem. He smells of smoke and wood.

Personality:
Most would describe Josh as being the typical bad-boy-slacker kid. He comes of as being brooding, careless and rash. He tends to think before he acts, which tends to get him into trouble. A lot. He isn't shy to cursing or slagging others off, but most of the time his heart isn't really in it.

Underneath the antisocial little shit he makes himself out to be, Josh is most likely one of the funniest people you will ever meet. He seems to always know what to say and when to say it. It will usually be at another's expense, but overall his humour tends to be more funny than offensive.

It is rare to see the tender side of Josh, especially considering how he betrays little to no emotion when it comes to other people, but he does have a gentle heart behind his harsh pessimism. Although he is known to be a player with the ladies, Josh knows how to treat a girl right in a serious relationship (even though he's only really had one significant one). He can be gentlemanly and kind to those he cares about, and the things he views as weaknesses are most likely his best traits.

Backstory:
It is suprising to people that Josh comes from a typical close-knit family. His home life certainly isn't problem-free, but it's better than most. Joshua started rebelling his first year of high school, resulting in him being suspended. Twice. His mother mostly just laughed it off, made him promise not to do it again, and forgave him after a few days of good-boy Josh. His father, however, was having none of it and set his son straight with a strict new rule set. It wasn't by any means severe, but it did ensure that Josh behaved himself enough to do well through school.

Joshua only had one meaningful relationship while he was in high school and that was with Alyx. The pair started dating in the early years of secondary education and kept it up for at least three years. They had their ups and downs but it was clear to everyone that they were head-over-heels in love with eachother. Their breakup came as a shock to most after such a strong relationship, but the two decided to go their seperate ways as the end of school loomed over them.

The breakup wasn't at all messy, but things between them both are still a little awkward. Especially after a recent drunken hook-up with Josh and Alyx in which Alyx had called out Callum's name instead of his. Pretending to have forgotten, Josh moped around on his own for a bit until finally mustering up the courage to rejoin their old friendship group. This holiday together was something he was at first reluctant to take part in, but somehow ended up attending anyway.

Future Plans:
He has no idea, and it scares the shit out of him.

It was hard not to stare at the girl sitting at the back of the class filing her nails in someone else's seat. It might have something to do with the scowl engraved in her features, or the fact that her face had no trace of makeup, or maybe the bandage taped to the left side of her head. It was probably the bandage, she guessed, due to the fact that multiple ignorant kids had approached her asking what was wrong with her head. This only dampened her already shit mood because 1) she had never spoken to any of them in her life and 2) what the hell has it got to do with them?! And she told them just that.

Indiana Ryder's week had gotten off to a good start. The first day, as per usual, had its fair share of drama - mainly focused on two girls and some irrelevant guy. One of the girls in particular, the one with the blue hair, was outspoken and brash and, most of all, interesting. Indie had flirted perhaps a little too much with Mr. Mysterious, Oberon; and she was lucky enough to be placed in a group with Caleb for the science fair. So, excluding the events of last night, the week had been decent and, so far, she liked her place in this school.

Then why was she sitting there looking as if she was ready to murder some kittens? No one knew. Indiana had walked into school this morning without her usual sarcastic comments, dry humour and 'better than thou' attitude - she was almost a completely different person. Entering the homeroom class, she had completely ignored her previous seat, and the people that would usually sit next to her, and slumped down into a chair that she suspected was actually Ebony's usual seat at the back corner of the class. If her expression wasn't enough, even her clothing screamed 'fuck off' after she had chosen to wear the baggiest clothes she could find.

The only time she displayed anything other than sheer pissed-off-ness was when her phone buzzed in her pocket. It was a text from William, of course. And another, and another, and one more, all sent in the space of five minutes demanding to know where she was. Indie's fingers tapped at the phone screen as she typed out a reply and sent it, inspecting her chewed nails once more before sitting back against the wall.
