Carmen

Carmen listened to Lily carefully as she responded. Never? She sort of understood, having never done a lot of human things including romance, but still...never? She almost felt sorry for the girl, who was apparently in desperate need of a confidence boost via carefully selected fashion that Carmen was only too happy to provide. "Well, you'd better get used to it," she smiled. "If we're going to be roommates, we're going to have fashion adventures. It's just science." This was about the limit of Carmen's understanding of science.

Standing up, she walked over to her closet that had to have been the Athalia equivalent of the Narnia wardrobe to hold all of Carmen's clothes. Carefully rummaging through her dresses with a ponderous look on her face, she said "I'll pick out a few dresses for you to choose from for me," without turning around. Pausing a little and turning her head to look at Lily, she said "Don't worry, there are no wrong answers," with a little grin. After a few more moments, she appeared with five (1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5) dresses, three in one hand and two in the other. She placed them on the bed and sampled them over herself one by one, looking at Lily with a distinctly runway model expression. "So, which one will it be, Madame?" she asked, clearly enjoying herself. "I am at your disposal."
Lucas watched Claire walk over to make his drink...and begin talking to that James guy.

Hmm.

What?

That dude.

Your competition.

Oh, shut up. Not every guy ever she knows automatically wants to date her.

Yeah, but this one does. -wiggles eyebrows-

You don't have eyebrows.

Shut up.

Just then, said James guy gave him a glare. Lucas was not one for subtlety at times and visibly rolled his eyes and shook his head, then giving him a look of "Really dude? Come on." while opening his palms to him.

Thankfully, Claire came away to steal (pun intended) his mind away from James. He smiled and shook his head. "The only exciting thing that ever happens on this beach is when I have to blow my whistle to tell somebody to get away from somewhere. People here are too good at not needing a lifeguards help," he said with a chuckle. "What about you? I'd imagine working in a coffee shop isn't much more interesting, if not for the customers."
Akira

Akira's day was looking up.

She happily followed her mate to the meadow, watching him roll around in the field with a smile on her face. Seeing the big, long Serperior frolic around in a field like a little cub never failed to amuse her, and she assumed it amused him as well. While she was often angry at someone or something, she was happy if he was (and she wasn't annoyed at something). She was his mate, after all...a fact that was proven shortly when he rubbed his head against hers and gave her a florid compliment. Akira loved it when he complimented her. It was a perfect scene - in the meadow with just the two of them.

"Oh, Luke," she said as she dramatically (but completely genuinely) swooned, letting herself fall over into the grass, followed shortly by her tails. She was now a happy pile of tails poking out of the grass. She poked her head out of her mound of tails, looking expectantly at Luke, hoping he'd join her on the ground.
Lucas chuckled at Claire's stammer. "If this isn't a date, then what is it?" he asked lightheartedly. He was in a very good mood and was more confident than he had been the night before. "Also, 'around noon' is scheduled around me. You're overthinking...I think," he said, not really sure of himself at the end. "Anyway! Yeah...I pretty much went straight to bed too." He carefully left out the detail that he sat in bed for a long time thinking about her before going to sleep...and sat in the lifeguard chair thinking about her for most of his shift.

Minor details...they aren't important.

You call that a "minor" detail?

...yes.

Ok.

Satisfied with his internal monologue, he turned to look at the guy named James that Claire pointed out. "O-Oh, ...interesting!" he stammered, trying (and failing spectacularly) to hide that his heart had sank when she pointed the guy out to him.

This is going to be harder than I thought...

Nobody said it would be eas-

SHUT UP!

He was thankfully interrupted by Claire focusing on hiim and not James. "Oh, uh...I'll have a cup of hazelnut, maybe?" he asked with a small smile. He didn't really need coffee at this point, but she had already gotten up.
Carmen

Carmen was very pleased with how the dress turned out on Lily. However...she was not pleased with Lily's reaction. Her demeanor had changed on a dime, from all into it to apparently very reserved. Most curiously, she was also redlining. That was something she had only seen Crash and Kathy do. But here? Now? With only her in the room? Carmen was, understandably, extremely confused. And also concerned. Her intense eyes could see through Lily's suppressed emotions.

"Lily?"

Her voice ripe with concern, she sat down on the bed opposite Lily. "What's wrong? What happened? Was it something I said?" She spoke quickly, in a tone full of concern but also a clear desire to eliminate her omnipresent confusion. She immediately got up and walked over to her hair supplies without a word once Lily asked for a hair tie, picking out a nice hair tie and walking back, handing it to her. "Need anything else?" she said very softly. She felt an odd obligation to help Lily in any way possible, fashion quest or not. ...But still mainly the fashion quest. She was still Carmen, after all.
Akira

Akira watched apprehensively as Oak brought out the odd flat thing that let Luke request things. This was usually the part when Luke pressed "fire", and Oak smiled and just had another wooden nest built. Luke went through the same motions, and Akira expected the same result.

But then...something amazing happened. At Oak's endearing smile at her and subsequent shout to his workers, Akira nearly exploded. In happiness.

First, it was a few nanoseconds of disbelief. Wait...he didn't really say that, did he?

Then, it was a few milliseconds of complete shock as she processed the information, happily accepting Oak's head pet in the process.

And then, it was pure, unbridled elation.

"Luke! Did you...hear that?! A stone habitat!" She jumped and pranced around him as Oak walked away. "STONE!!! I don't know what you did but I love you!" she exclaimed as she went to nuzzle him, practically tackling him in the process. "Oh, I'm so happy! Luke, Luke! Isn't this wonderful?" She pranced around for a little while longer until she was finally able to calm herself down, still in the happiest mood she'd been in in a long time.

After collecting her emotions from the ground around her, she responded to his query. "Luke, that sounds lovely. But I want you to be with me, okay?"

Like a dog twitching while he waits for his master to let him at food, Akira was twitching, leaning towards the direction of the meadow. "Shall we?"
Carmen

Carmen chuckled at Lily's lack of confidence in her own fashion picking abilities. "Oh relax," she said dramatically. "I'll pick out a few options and let you choose one for me. ...But first, your dress," she said as Lily began to pull the dress over her head. Carmen suppressed a chuckle as the fully-clothed Lily started putting on the dress, and was rewarded with Lily's own realization. She just stood with an odd smile as Lily quickly to requisite dress-putting-on attire. If I were a human male, that would have been..."hot"? Is that the term? she thought. She had learned a lot about human romance and attraction through the books, but was also blissfully ignorant of the emotions associated with them, almost like a child. She lived her music and fashion-centric life without romance, though she supposed since she had a human form she should try it at some point.

Her self-judged odd train of thought came to an abrupt halt when Lily got the dress stuck halfway down and asked for her help. Carmen smiled and walked over. "Oh, don't be embarrassed," she said, noting Lily's stammer. "I'm me, remember?" She reached underneath the dress without a second thought and felt around until she found the snag, freeing the dress and letting the dress complete its drapery over Lily. Again...blissfully ignorant. The dress appeared to fit surprisingly well, and Carmen herself was very satisfied with how at least the back looked.

"Well, what do you think?" she queried with a little grin. "Turn around so I can see!"
Another Pokemon that gets Akira riled up...lawdy, she's going to drive Luke insane. :P
Jolteon4lyfe.

Also, jazz.
Miyoshi followed the Colonel to the mess hall, and was pleasantly surprised with the food options on hand. She had certainly seen - and eaten - far worse. Picking up two cinnamon rolls and a glass of orange juice to start with, she sat down at the table third. Miyoshi smiled at the comments from Ariella and Matt. She spoke up after they finished.

"The flying that I was able to see was first rate," she commented. "I didn't see much because I was chasing after the missiles, but what little glimpses I saw of the rest of you guys were really quite impressive," she said, checking herself. She had a habit of complimenting profusely when it was deserved, and she felt that this was one of those times. Before she went on too long on how satisfied she had been with her new squadron's first sortie, she changed the focus to them. She would have to be more careful next time...unless they didn't mind the endless compliments? She'd have to find out.

"How was it for you guys? What kind of opposition did they send?" she asked, curious. She had scarcely seen another aircraft during her missile hunt, let alone an enemy fighter. For all she knew, the fighters could have been biplanes or PAK-FAs...though Overwatch had said to expect Su-27s or similar beforehand. Either way, she wondered how the modified antiques fared against whatever newer crop there could have been. Obviously they prevailed, but in what capacity? Her thoughts continued to whirlwind out of control until she came to her senses. I could just look up the mission log on the tablet... she thought to herself, calming her stream of consciousness.
