Carmen

Carmen chuckled at Lily's reaction. "Of course I can fly," she said, transforming (as dramatically as possible) into her gaseous skylark bird form. "You didn't think I was just a human, did you?" she asked lightheartedly, clearly still herself.

Looking over at Lily's newly sprouted wings, she had an intrigued look on her face...that is, if it was possible to tell what expression a huge gaseous bird had.

"Oh, those are beautiful," she commented. After a pause and a much more dissatisfied look, she added, "They don't match your dress though...um...anyway. That sounds lovely!" She was definitely disappointed in herself despite having literally no way to predict that Lily would have pink angel wings.
"If you did, I forgot," Lucas admitted with a shrug. "So...we'll call it even?" he offered a little smile.

The way she blushed at the drop of a hat was adorable to him. During this not-date he was beginning to realize little tidbits here and there of what he liked about her.

I mean, besides the fact that she's pretty.

Aww, how sweet.

Alright pea-brain, what word would you use?

Ravishing.

Ohplz.

"Sea turtles huh?" he asked out loud, interrupting his internal dialogue. "I'd imagine those are a lot easier to take care of than dolphins," he said playfully.

She seemed at least arms-length interested in hearing more about dolphins from him, so he obliged, a bit nervous that he wasn't being interesting to her, especially since she had just looked at the time.

Dude, that's the ULTIMATE bad sign.

Or...she has to get back to a shift soon.

Sure man. Let's go with that.

"Well, I love the sea, as you know. Dolphins have always just been really cool to me, I guess," he said, shrugging. He sounded like a complete dork. "It would be cool to have a real bond with one, you know? Like you get with a house pet. I mean, I assume anyway." At this point, he let his head fall on the table, quickly picking it up and looking at her apologetically. "I'm sorry, I'm probably boring you out of your skull right now. I just...you know. Beach life."

I am such a doofus.

You said it, not me.
Miyoshi listened carefully as Ariella briefed the squadron on their next mission. A recon mission, hmm? she thought as the Colonel began. Excalibur Six was mainly recon, wasn't he? Alas, as the flight lead touched on the significant loss in numbers, she realized as she took a quick glance around the room that they were down to just five aircraft. We had at least a dozen back in Scotland, didn't we...? she thought. Surely the reassignments couldn't have been that extensive...I mean they need us at full strength, don't they? Mentally shrugging at the decisions of their superiors, she kept listening, noticing distinctly that she was no longer Excalibur Five - she was now the primary wingman.

She continued listening as her flight lead explained the gravity of the situation - this would be no cakewalk...not that the last sortie was. Summing up the situation in her head, she made some conclusions.

1) It was time to put her MiG-25PDX's promises of increased low-altitude usefulness, stability and speed to the test.

2) Should her and Excalibur One's cover be challenged, the Foxbat's dogfighting capability would also be tested. This was a mission that would thoroughly wring out her aircraft.

3) She hoped taking off from the Nimue would be easier than landing on it.

Not having any real questions to ask, she made a little motivational comment to fill the silence after the Colonel's call for response.

"I look forward to the debriefing," she said with a little smile.

Was she as confident as she made out to be? Well...yes. She was in the presence of four highly trained and highly skilled pilots, and was one herself. Would she be more confident if there were more of them and they had more up-to-date aircraft? Perhaps, but their restomods had proven their worth so far.

Carmen looked at Lily, still a little confused but accepting that she probably wasn't going to find out why any time soon.

"What, you're not bored with me yet?" Carmen teased, giving a little smile.

She sat back, sighing as the crowd began to disperse. "Oh, I really don't know," she replied. "There's an entire island around us and we haven't even left the beach. I'd quite like to explore it at some point," she said. "It would be such a shame if I never saw the rest of it. But...I'd be happy going back to the room or playing music or even just flying off somewhere," she continued, shrugging.
Just a heads up.

I'm going to be gone all day tomorrow (likely 7 am to 11 pm or thereabouts) to railfan, so I won't be on the pad or the Guild at all during that time. It's likely if I get home before midnight I'll hop on the pad(s) and make posts, but don't expect anything before then.
I'll always be interested in this.

I should be able to get a post up soonish.
Carmen

Carmen was looking intently at the unfortunate couple standing facing each other, when she heard a thump next to her and turned around to see Lily's...head on the table? Even more confusing was that upon closer inspection, it was quite clear that Lily was redlining. For the 86th time that day, Carmen was really confused.

"Uhh, Lily...?" she asked, sort of prodding the waters. "Is...everything okay? You seem...red..." she remarked, her voice trailing off.

She looked up at Kathy, who tried to console Lily. Let's face it, Carmen thought to herself. If anyone knows about embarrassment, it's her. After Kathy finished her comment that Carmen couldn't quite hear, Carmen just looked at her with a face ripe with confusion and bewilderment, shrugging her shoulders as she looked back and forth between Kathy, Lily, and Ryuu/Darwin. What is even happening right now? her face seemed to say, matching her thoughts.

"When on the topic of fashion, the conversation always eventually leads to shoes," Carmen replied to Lily with a chuckle. "It's science!" she sang with a dramatic flip of the hair. "One day I'll get you to go shoe shopping with me...and dress shopping and jewelry shopping and...oh, it'll be the most fabulous trip ever!"

Carmen was certainly enjoying herself, but was about to enjoy herself even more.

Ryuu had to kiss Darwin.

She contained herself at first, but as the two were preparing for the...ahem...engagement, she took the opportunity to cat call at Ryuu, deeming him a suitable target due to his reaction to his round with her earlier. "Have fun Ryuu!" she called out as innocent-sounding of a voice as possible, giggling to herself and Lily as she waited for the fireworks (and considering Ryuu currently had plasma lips, fireworks were a very real possibility).

I don't really know what we'd be using it for. If someone could explain that to me a bit clearer, that would be great.

It would essentially replace the Guild for us, as Rose said.

Reasons why we'd do that:

1. It provides many more posting features. Colored text, highlighted text, embedded videos and Flash files, tables, font sizes, smileys, etc. The posting editor is much more powerful than the Guild's.
2. It's much more conveniently organized, since the entire thing is just Athalia (the URL even starts with "athalia"). Instead of working with a single IC and OOC thread, we have subforums for every season IC, OOC discussion with as many individual threads as you'd like, character sheets, plot sheets, spinoff RPs, off-topic discussion, and so on. It would be much more user-friendly.
3. Whereas the Guild already completely crashed once and still periodically goes down, the Yuku is backed up on a stupidly high amount of servers, according to the Yuku website. I honestly trust it more than the Guild to stay up, since it's run by a professional team and not just one guy (despite how amazing of a job Mahz does). But, as Rose said, we'd (most likely I'd) still post things on the Guild retroactively as a redundant failsafe. If either site goes down, we still have everything IC, in addition to the wiki season summaries.
4. The privacy settings are great. As of now, only approved members can post, and I can set it so that only approved members (aka us) can even access the page at all.
5. Moderation. Admins (Rose, NK and I) can edit, delete and move posts and threads as needed.
6. It's freakin' cool.

Personally, I don't mind if we use it or not. I made it and put a good amount of hours into it, so I'd like to see it used, but I won't be upset if it's not. I chose to do it myself, after all.

Rose and I have been testing it by moving our fanfic over to it. All new posts are over there now, and haven't been archived on the Guild yet. So far, it's gone really well.

If we did that, wouldn't we not get new recruits?

Correct.

Which is handy, because Athalia's been closed to new people as is for a while now.

I'm sure if we ever really wanted new recruits we could post an interest thing on here.
