All I can think in response is "no shit, dude." That's pretty obviously something people will take exception to. Make whatever choices you want, but don't expect people to not be surprised or shocked by an unusual stance on a very personal topic.

I don't think Rax expected people to "not be shocked", per se. More like he expected them to maybe understand his position without going full retard and acting like they know how he should handle his mother's death.

Playing SWTOR(Star Wars The Old Republic) and almost every time someone asks for help with a Heroic(Heroics are like mini-raids), the universal answer is "solo it". Then come the anecdotes of "Oh I soloed it with (insert class and level here) so everyone should be able to solo it!" ignoring the fact that Heroics are raids and are designed as such.

This is a trend I've been seeing in MMOs lately. Just a complete a lack of community beyond, like, trade and shit. It's like people think their dicks will shrink if they partner up with someone for a quest/job/mission/whatever.
