Kay felt him relax and sighed with relief. She kept one hand on his but sat up a bit more, grabbing her sketchbook and pencil, pulling up her knees so she could rest her book against her legs and continued to sketch with her free hand. She couldn't figure it out but she just couldn't leave John unattended, even though she was usually far from ever giving a shit about anyone in recent years. She was barely even aware of the other two up above them as she just let herself get wrapped up in what she was doodling, letting her pencil tell her what to do next rather than truly thinking hard on what she wanted to do.

Chas nodded, glad that such things weren't a problem for Serena, unlike with Kay. He noticed how she put a marker in the book so she could easily find the relevant information once again, thinking that's exactly what John would have done. As she walked by his eyes rows rose in curiosity, sensing the aura from her and he wasn't even remotely as in tune with all things magical like John was. He was just the cabby in his eyes with only a small amount of magical knowledge. So if he could sense it then it had to be incredibly strong. "right, stay safe when you're out there" he told he. "you got a phone? Let me sticky number in it so if you run into trouble you can speed dial me and I'll be there" he told her. It was only fair that they all exchanged numbers as he just knew it'd come in handy at some point.
Chas nodded waiting for her to finish reading, whilst listening to her suggestion of her going out so he could keep John resting. "good point, if you think you'll be safe going out. I'll gladly give you the cash for it" he replied to her, thinking it was only fair to help out where he could. He didn't think the girls would have much money between them, if any at all as well. It was clear Kay certainly didn't for a start, as she had previously mentioned stealing to get by as best she could. When Serena found what she did. He took the book that she handed to him and began reading it. "we need to strategise that's what we need to do. Set a trap if we can, somewhere that's not here. This place needs to remain as secret as possible for obvious reasons." he explained.

Kay looked up from her sketchbook when she heard John fidgeting and groaning in his sleep, making her put her book down and check on him. "John you're okay," she said to him, hesitantly at first, she grabbed for his hand in the hopes it would subconsciously calm him. She let her thumb rub against his calloused skin, and rested her head against his. "please be okay" she murmured to herself.
As comments were made about her photos, she grabbed them and tucked them inside her book so they couldn't be seen again. It was always a difficult subject for her to delve into and now was no different. She looked up as Serena got up to head for the stairs where the books were before looking back down again. She grabbed her little sketchbook and pencil, opening it, flicking through the rough sketches she had in it to find a blank page. She didn't see juvh point in interrupting Serena as she was working on finding out more about the sigil that was on the bottom of her bag. She glanced at John as he turned over but remained asleep, suddenly getting inspired and started sketching away. She wasn't drawing John as such, but everything they had gone through did give her some kind of inspiration, using John as a muse so to speak. It was just rough lines at the moment to get the positions she wanted perfected before she even thought about adding more fine lines or details.

Chas followed Serena upstairs and leaned against the balcony, "you found anything useful to help us out?" he asked her curiously, noting the similarities between her and John with the wayy they both paced back and forth as they read a book when researching something. "by the way I might head out later if you two need anything for here? John is terrible at keeping the place stocked for himself, let alone guests" he then remarked, knowing that someone would have go out to replace Kay's bag if she didn't feel like going out herself and clearly they'd need the general bathroom supplies at least. He figured when it came to clothes, the girls would have to either go together alone or go with him and John for safety to go shopping.
When John caved under the pressure they were all giving him, to the point of making a remark about her puppy eyes at him, Kay couldn't help but look smug that it worked, which only matched Serena's smirk of success. Chas couldn't help but chuckle in bemusement that the girls hanging up on John actually worked. Kay was glad that Serena was teaming up with her to get John to rest and making him get some sleep. As he did so and the blanket went over him, she let go of his hand so she could tend to her bag. She started pulling everything out which wasn't too much at all. A sad sight to see and realise when she saw she had three small piles of belongings. One had a folded up hoodie that had one more spare top inside and leggings with clean socks, the second pile had her sketchbook and pencil and one fiction book that was clearly well read as the covers were curling from being folded back as she read the book. The book being called 'a tale of two cities' by Charles Dickens. The third and final small pile was simply of just two photographs. One was of her seven year old self with her mother on the sofa having a tickle fight and laughing. Her mother raving the exact same hair colouring as herself, but it was in a shoulder length Bob. She had the same eyes as her mother and looked truly like a mini version of her. The second photo of her adoptive family and herself when she was in her late teens on a camping trip, her sister/childhood best friend Sam who had extremely dark brown hair, tanned skin and dark eyes. A stunning girl who was popular, the polar opposite to Kay. She truly looked the odd one out in the family but it was clear the three of them loved Kay. As Serena spoke up about getting her another bag, she simply nodded.

Chas wasn't expecting Serena to ask him anything, but as she did he wasn't going to ignore the woman. "yeah, a daughter. She's twelve now, called Geraldine. It was fine taking her. Actually was quite nice to be honest. She wasn't embarrassed by me dropping her off so that's always a win in my book" he chuckled. He glanced over and saw what little Kay had making him sigh with sympathy. He noticed her reading choice and was somewhat surprised by the choice. He didn't know why but he didn't take Kay for the classic literature type for some reason. He also noticed the two almost worn photos but was hesitant to ask about them, but did anyway. "that your adoptive family?" he asked, gesturing at the pictures. Kay looked down and nodded, "yeah.."she quietly replied.
Kay smiled back at John as she helped Serena get him to the couch downstairs, making him lay down which she wad glad he was complying for a change. She listened to what Serena was saying, also getting medical student vibes from her terminology. "he's healed up, so should be fine."she said back to Serena, sitting on the floor beside John feeling tired from healing him. She didn't regret it though and would in a heartbeat, do it all over again if it came to it. She couldnt figure out why she feeling so protective and drawn to John, but she wasn't exactly complaining about it either. The moment John asked Serena about her training, Kay fel glad that her assumptions and observations were correct.

At the mention of burning her bag she sighed and felt like what's left of her was being ripped from her. Chas could see how it was hurting Kay emotionally about the idea of burning her bag, and he honestly could understand it, but he also knew it was for the best. "I'll burn the bag, I can do it out back safely. I'll bring it to Kay so she can retrieve her things from in it first though" he suggested, seeing Kay sigh with some little relief at the mention of that. "thank you" Kay said, getting a nod of acknowledgement in return. "and I don't care mate, you're staying right there with Kay, rest up. Just for once please?" he told John, seeing him trying to sit up. "they're right John, please. I might have been able to heal you but you still need to sleep. Even if its just for an hour. You need to properly rest." Kay chimed in, looking at him with almost pleading eyes to just do the right thing. Chas watched on as Kay have John the pleading eyes, and even held his hand into her own to fully sell the plead, making him smirk ever so slightly before walking back upstairs to grab Kay's bag and bringing it down for her to empty its contents. "thanks Chas" she muttered, looking away from John for a brief moment to stare at her bag.
Fee felt his head injury heal up, despite what John was saying there was no way she was going to leave him hurt and weak. "Kay won't allow that and nor will I. You are a stubborn fool John, but once I'm done you'll feel brand new" she spoke to him, doing what she could, when she felt Serena come over a d told her not to over do it. She nodded a d let Kay take charge of her body once more, the glow fading to a dim light before disappearing completely. The whole Chas was awe struck at seeing the healing power of a phoenix in person, still not quite believing it was even his own eyes witnessing it. Kay's shoulders slumped from using her power on John, having never truly done it onto another person before, or really at all. Before she could even stop herself, she flung her arms round John to hug him. "you're a bloody idiot for doing that to save me, but thank you" she told him, half lecturing him and half being utterly and completely grateful for what he did.

Getting his senses back, Chas blinked a couple of times and couldn't help but smile slightly at how Kay reacted to what John did to help her. She sure was something. "yeah, let's get him to the couch where he lay out and actually rest for five minutes. Maybe now he'll listen to us" he replied, shooting his friend a glance that said 'or I will kill you myself' without him even saying it. He wouldn't actually kill his best friend but he would lecture him until John couldn't take it anymore.
The moment Serena said about burning her bag, Kay hated the idea but she could understand why it was said. Her bag and everything inside it was the last of her things, but if it mesnt they would all be safe around her, then she'd have no choice but to agree to it. "I.. I'm fine. It didn't touch me no. John got there first" she told her, before letting her check Chas was okay. "I'm fine too" he told Serena, waving off her concern as he felt like it wasn't required. Yet he and Kay both looked at John at the same time as Serena did and saw the state he was in, making Kay dash over and squat over. She checked his head and chucked the fallen books off of him. "John!" she exclaimed in slight panic. "no no no.. You bloody fool! Why did you do that for me?" she complained, knowing he was unconscious and couldn't actually reply to her. "Fee.. I know you just did what you did but please.. Help me save him" she begged, knowing if she was with anyone else, it would have looked like she was utterly insane and talking to herself.

"you're growing ever so attached to this mage Kay, but okay" Fee replied to her inside her head, and with permission she took over Kay's body once more. She made her wings appear through the marking on her back and wrapped them around both Kay and John, where she placed her forehead to his and her hand to where he was bleeding, using her phoenix flame and aura to heal him. A golden glow surrounded them both, the red tips of her wings glowing brightly, giving the illusion of them becoming pure fire, when that wasn't the case. "wake up. John Constantine. It's not your time yet hellblazer. There's more for you to do" Fee spoke through Kay's body.
"yeah I checked them over myself. They're solid" Chas confirmed to him before Serena turned to Kay and asked about her bag making him wonder what she was getting at. Kay nodded at the question, "yeah it has. Only time it's ever considered unattended ifls if I'm asleep" she said to her, seeing the woman send a shadow for her bag, which it brought to Serena. She wondered what Serena was looking for with her bag until it only sunk in when she showed them all the demon seal on the bottom of her bag. She listened to Serena's words when the spirit went for he. The next few seconds were a blur when she felt John shove her out of the way and got the full pelt of the attack, making her gasp as she stumbled back into the chair. She went to go for John as she slammed into the bookshelf and onto the floor when Serena managed to trap the spirit with her shadows. "I.. I don't know how!" shhe replied when she felt Fee talking to her in her head and took over, her eyes glowing that bright ember shade, fire igniting from her hands. Fee sneered at the spirit trapped before shoving her hands forward and making her fire leave her hands and envelope the sphere.

The phoenix flame engulfed the sphere wholly, scorching through it to the spirit with such an intense heat, it could be felt by all in the room. As the sphere and spirit got burned by by the phoenix fire, Fee disappeared back into Kay's mind, her eyes turning back to her usual grey blue shade. She hadn't exerted that much power in a long time and with Fee and Kay's two halves of their soul not fully connected, it made Kay fall down onto her knees, partially wondering what the hell just happened. It was only looking at everyone and the fact she didn't let Fer have control for long, that she could figure things out.
Kay wasn't finding much that seemed to fit with the demon from last night, but she still found the book interesting nonetheless as she found out it was indeed true about demons able to possess people. Which explained what happened to her dorm mate Ethan the night that started it all. "I got nothing, just generic stuff" she told them. She then saw how unsteady on his feet John was when she looked up from the book, jumping up from the chair, intending to make John sit down for a few minutes when they hesrd giggling in the air after they discussed what had been found in the books. She walked closer to the group. "what else could it be? This place is meant to be safe" she questioned, starting to doubt how safe this house was of John's. Yet she also knew she would rather take her chances here than on the streets.

"I'm sorry I've brought all this trouble for you three"she apologised partially feeling like this was her fault. If she hadn't been constsntly on the run maybe this would t have been brought to John's home, but at the same time if she didn't keep running then she would most definitely be either dead or in Hell being tortured for what she was. She felt so damn conflicted yet again. She really hoped they wouldn't have to fight as everyone in the room could see John was in no state to fight. She couldn't believe she was thinking it, but she was beginning to think if it mesnt keeping everyone else safe, maybe she should go with the demons even though she didn't want to do that at all.
Kay nodded, glad that he half listened to them all finally as she followed him up the stairs, marvelling at the sheer amount of books he had on his shelves. She barely even noted that Serena was talking with Chas about how stubborn John was. Her fingertips traced over the spines of the books as John looked for ones he thought would be helpful before turning her attention to him when he pulled out some books. At Serena's words Chas couldn't help but chuckle in a low quiet level, "sadly yeah. He's either working until he literally passes out from exhaustion or he's lazier than a cat on a warm sunny window sill" he replied to her quietly, walking upstairs and going toward the books. The very mental image of John being a cat lazing in a sunny window was always an amusing thought to Chas, just imagining that even if he was he'd probably still find a way to wear the damn trench coat or smoke at the same time.

Kay picked up a book, her fingertips running down the leather cover slowly and tentatively like it was a priceless artefact before opening it with great respect, heading to the chair and sitting down in it, her legs pulled up and crossing as she balanced the book in her lap and began to read. If there were two things that always brought Kay joy it was books and art. To the point she always managed to nick a book from a shop to have one on the go to give her escapism from her life of survival, and a small notepad and we'll used pencil where she sketched what she saw on the streets or sometimes she sketched what she saw in her dreams. Her hair on the right side fell down the side of her face, whilst the left side remained tucked behind her ear. It didn't take her long to get engrossed in the book and reading about demons in the hopes she'll find something.
