Chas listened to what Serena was saying after she turned round to face them finally, making it clear that this day's events were really taking its toll on her. He listened intently, making sure to truly hear what she was saying and if there was anything in what she was telling them to be questioned, could be questioned. He felt so sorry for the woman when she said about the tub incident being the second time she was attacked whilst trying to have a relaxing shower or bath. He let John ask the question first, knowing out the two of them it was John who could help the most. He continued to hear her say what happened after the shower attack, before she came to the conclusion that it could happen again which brought on her nlg question for him.

"so, just so I can get this right. If this happened once before way before you even knew Kay even existed, then the bath attack couldn't have been linked to her bag being hexed. So your attacks and Kay having a tracking sigil on her bag really aren't related at all. But what makes you think it could happen again? This place is the safest place you can be... Or should be anyway" he replied. He didn't want to pick holes in her story, but when one was so large, he couldn't help but pick the hole. This whole time they assumed it was down to the bag being hexed, which caused Serena being attacked in the bath and Kay, but he was now starting to question that massively. Kay remained asleep during this conversation, finding herself find comfort in the blanket John pulled over her more, and him being by her side. One arm even draping round his arm in her sleep. For once she wasn't getting nightmares for the time being.
Chas, like John could tell that there were something going on with Serena but she just wasn't telling them anything. If he was honest with himself, it was highly frustrating that they were just getting little snippets of information from the woman but nothing that was continously helpful and only gave them more questions left unanswered. He shook his head at John's question, shrugging as well. "Nothing, if she had I would have told ya mate, you know that" he replied to him. He then looked back toward Serena and cleared his throat before speaking up once more, "Serena? You okay? You seem a bit lost in your own mind. There anything else you need to tell us?" He didn't want to pry in some ways, but they needed answers and needed them as soon as possible. This was not just her life at stake, but also Kay's and if they were to help them both, it was now also his and John's life at stake also.

As Chas tried to get answers from Serena, Kay's sleeping form had shifted and leaned against John, whilst not waking up and just getting more wrapped up in the blanket in the process. Her arms raising to under her chin, pulling the blanket up with them, and every now and then a little almost inaudible hum would escape her lips as she slept. She couldn't have looked any more different to Serena's nervous shaking state if she had tried and was awake.
Kay looked up when she became aware of John walking over and taking the book from her and speaking to her. She nodded in agreement, that resting her eyes from reading was the best option to do, having no qualms or need to argue with him over it. She knew he was right, and she was overworking herself after everything. She couldn't help but glance over at Serena when he also asked her if she was okay, seeing how tired the other woman looked and that it was only now obvious to Kay, that Serena hadn't eaten anything yet, due to John making Serena take a slice of pizza to eat. She then took a second slice of pizza and ate, making herself sit back on the couch as comfortably she could considering her shoulder blade hadn't long been stitched up.

She sighed as she continued to eat, mostly in silence until she couldn't eat much more. She had eaten her fair share of the pizza, whilst not hogging it all at the same time. She did want the others to eat enough as well and was well versed in sharing what was available to make sure everyone ate enough to keep surviving. Her homeless ways would take a long time to drop, but in her eyes the survival skills of sharing food and making sure others were also okay were not bad things to keep as part of her habits. Eventually she found herself falling asleep on the couch in the corner of it.
Chas put the pizza boxes down and opened them both up, so they could all help themselves to what they wanted, looking at how Serena was being as she sat down next to Kay after John moved. He shook his head at John's assumption, "I don't think it is just shock but I don't know what exactly, so I think just monitor her for the time being and see what else happens or if she shows any other signs of whatever and go from there. But I'm no doctor so unless Serena knows exactly what is going on with her, we not got anything much to go on to help her. I just hope not much else happens with the girls as a lot has happened in such a short time. They deserve a break" he replied quietly. Unlike Serena, Kay did indeed grab a slice of pizza, being careful not to let any topping fall on John's old books. She was enough of an avid reader to know that these books were priceless and she guessed that some books in this house probably weren't even made out of things like paper and leather.

She continued to read, keeping the book balanced on the arm rest slightly at an angle so she could eat and read withoug risking ruining the book, eating as she read. The moment the pizza hit the inside of her mouth, she had to pause her reading as she closed her eyes and tried hard to refrain from making some undignified noise of satisfaction. She couldn't remember the last time she ate pizza and this one was particularly good. She didn't like to make it obvious how it had been so long since she had proper food, but it felt like whenever she ate in this house, it reminded her of that very fact. As she re-open her eyes to continue reading, she found herself being reminded of not just her eating history, but also the fact she did suffer a head injury not that long ago and her vision was blurring slightly from so much reading. So she did all she could do in this moment and take a break, solely focusing on eating.
The usual delivery kid wasn't expecting someone else to answer the door, having always been used to this place be only inhabited by John and Chas (Chas may not live there but he's there nearly all the time he may as well). "oh uhh, nothing. John paid over the phone for it" he replied, seeing how shaky her hands were, he wondered if she'd be able to take the pizza. Chas glanced up toward the front door above them, seeing that Serena was at the door with the pizza guy, making him put down the books and head up there. "I got this" he said to the kid, gesturing to give him the pizza boxes, which the kid did. "thanks Nick" he said, before letting the delivery kid named Nick go to finish his rounds. He looked at Serena and smiled, "come on, let's get you fed. You need to keep hydrated and fed if you want the shock to go away" he told her softly.

Kay listened to what John was saying, still finding it hard to believe that it made sense to him that this book was talking about her mother. A mother she always thought was just about forty years old when she went missing/died when she herself was only nine years old. Now she was starting to feel like the reality of what she was and what her mother was was truly starting to kick in. If the book was meaning her mother, then that would make her mother thousands and thousands of years old in reality before she died. "there's more in that book, but I'm guessing it to do with the Apollo part of the history. If he's the sun god then maybe we should branch out on the info from that mythology? Considering for the most part, scientifically speaking, you can't have shadows without light" she added, as she saw Chas come down with the pizza boxes.
Kay watched as John got up and grabbed a load of books, bringing them over and putting them on the table, whilst also tossing one to Chas who grabbed it out of the air easily enough. He too noticed how distant Serena was becoming, as did Kay. "She's got a bit fo shock kicking in, just give her time John" he replied, as he saw Kay grab a book off the coffee table out the corner of her eye. She didn't really pay attention to which book she grabbed, just hoped that she would find some answers of some sort for either her or Serena inside it. Opening the book, she saw it was mostly about the history of the war between heaven and hell's warriors which instantly intrigued her, making her start reading.

It would have been another fifteen minutes to half hour when there would be a knock on John's front door of the delivery boy arriving with their pizza order. The knock on the door drew Kay out of her reading, whilst also making her realise that she was indeed hungry once more. "think the pizza is here" she commented whilst looking back down into the book, continuing her reading. Inside she found out about how there were certain things said to always keep Heaven and Hell always at war with each other. That despite Lucifer being cast out and made ruler of Hell, his army of demons made from him crave that power to overrule Earth and heaven. At first she didn't think anything she was reading was of any significance, but then one sentence came up which made her sit upright. 'and with the power of Eve and the immortal flame, Hell will gain the greatest power to bring The forever Darkness onto all worlds. Whoever holds such power has the might to overthrow even Lucifer himself. With the immortal flame or the bird itself, the demons will have the most powerful weapon'. She continued to read on, 'it is said in some religions that the first ever Phoenix came to the mortal realm and caught the love of Apollo the sun god himself, making others jealous who tried to kill the bird known as Fira, only to find it became reborn from it's own ashes, returning to Paradise'. Reading that paragraph made Kay almost drop the book in shock.

"what is it Kay?" Chas asked, seeing her reaction to whatever she read. "it...it just mentioned my mother's name in this book, but that can't be possible....can it?" she replied, seeing there was more to the book, but she couldn't bring herself to continue reading it just yet.
Just as she thought it couldn't get any worse, John went and said about how it will make Heaven wanting to come after her to tip the scales into their favour and just to stop Hell having her. After she thought it was bad that demons were after her for no apparent reason, she now finds out they're all after her because a big boss of Hell whose close Lucifer wants her for who knows what truly for, and that will make Heaven wanting her and anything else in this magical downworld. She looked at john when he turned to face her and tell her they won't let that happen, making her slowly nod in trust of him. She sighed and listened to Serena as she then spoke up with one thing this new information now meant as she found herself scooching closer to John without really realising it. It was like subconsciously she needed the comfort from him, that his touch gave her earlier on, or something unseen between them was dragging her ever closer to him without her really knowing it.

She also found it curious that Serena ended her sentence with 'it worked in the past, it can work again' which made her see once again she really was the only in the room that knew the least about any of this world. She continued to listen as they all spoke, also wondering how Serena comes into all of this, wondering if it was Fate that made her come into her life or if it was just a sheer coincidence, which she rarely believed in with big things like this. Chas also listened, putting the book down down still open on the page about The First incase any of the others wanted to read for themselves. "then it sounds like we got a lot fo research to be done between us and when that pizza arrives I'd say there's no time like the present to start reading up on everything we can. Then start training with Kay tomorrow when we're all a lot fresher and such." Chas suggested.
As John went to order the pizza, Kay kept hold of her mug, enjoying he comfort from the warmth of the tea. "don't be sorry Serena. I'll be okay" she tried to reassure the other woman. "I'll live, it's my thing apparently" she added, trying to make a joke of some sort about her supposed immortality if it was even a thing. She looked up when John re entered the room after making the take out order and nodded. She scooted across the couch a little bit to make room for John, feeling bad that she was taking up the whole couch. Chas was thinking on the words of what Serena just said and the demon earlier, finding he felt like he knew or at least those words flbefore but couldn't figure out why.

He got up and went over to the pile of books by the fireplace, grabbing one and flicking through it before stopping on one page. "bloody Hells!" he exclaimed. "I know what that demon meant by The First. He means the bloody first demon knight of Hell. As in The First with a capital F. He's the next big wig of Hell after Lucifer himself. If he wants Kay then we're gonna be utterly screwed if we're not careful. He's like Lucifer's right wing man so incredibly powerful at the best or worst of times, but if he gets his hands on Kay and her phoenix essence? He'd be unstoppable" he explained, half reading out loud what he was seeing in the book and half explaining his theory. Kay went wide eyed at what Chas was saying, instinctively curling up on the couch.
Chas went off and made a round of tea for everyone, putting two mugs down for Kay and John and handed Serena hers. He smirked when she said what she did because she couldn't have gotten it anymore wrong. "more my antics rub off on John sometimes. Yeah they're fine. Seems John has it all under control with Kay." he replied to her, before leaning in and whispering "think one or the other or both have crushes on the other" he then smirked. He then found himself sitting on the edge of the coffee table, handing over Kay and John's mugs one at a time. "here, think you both could do with this" he commented to them both.

"I'm glad the bag is gone now. Its a lot to accept but I don't want my belongings to be the cause of more problems for us all" she replied to John, as she took the mug from Chas. For some reason there was a little part of her that was annoyed that Chas and Serena came back as quick as they did as she enjoyed being alone with John. She was curious to why they were being the way they were with each other and wanted to know why, but felt she couldn't with the others aroung, so she made a mental note for later to herself to figure it out. "John you can order from our usual pizza place if you want u want on my card tonight. Think the girls deserve it, I think we all do" he commented.
Listening to what Serena was saying Chas couldn't help but smile. "yeah, I know, I'll go when I know you're all alright" he told her, not wanting to say this as pretty standard for him. As she turned to go back inside and wobbled, dropping to her knees, he quickly squatted down by her. "you're not alright. You're not in shock" he told her, slinging one her arms round him as he helped her onto her feet and back inside, taking her over to the reclining chair. "here, sit here and I'll get you something to drink to help with the shock" he explained, knowing it'd be a cup of tea but knew it would help.

Before Chas and Serena got back inside, Kay listened to John and smiled ever so slightly, thankful that he helped her and managed to treat her wounds. To her they must have been bad if they were around long enough to be treated as she didn't usually get injuries for long. When he put his hand on her cheek, she was taken aback for the briefest of seconds, but looked at him when he admitted she had him worried. "I'm sorry I worried you. I just wanted to do the right thing" she replied, subconsciously tilting her head into his hand. Then Chas and Serena came in and zapped her right out of her moment with John. "she okay?" she asked Chas, "yeah, she's in shock but a cup of tea will fix that" Chas replied.
