I'm not convinced you've sold your reasoning to yourself.
*With another burst of energy, the aura around me grows far more intense and the color seems to be sucked out of the air around me, creating very dostorted visuals and vaporizing the tebdrils, even without me seeming to ever acknowledge whether I noticed them or not, and the armor self repairs whatever damage was done relatively quickly*
