A little bit of boxing was a safe way to start things off. Nothing overly technical, just moving around and throwing some punches. Yumi was going to hold back on her hits of course, worried what a full force blow might do to Viral right now. Swinging away she kept hitting his arms, happy to find he was taking the hits solidly, even if they were toned down. Maybe she could ramp it up a little bit, just to see what he could manage right now, get some idea of what was okay. Not in any hurry to do so however she kept her simple striking going, eventually getting a few in retaliation. Either brushing the hits aside or weaving to avoid them she put on a smile, beginning to enjoy herself even at a modestly slow pace. "I haven't done this kind of fighting in a long time! Mostly because everyone's too busy flying around and blowing things up," Yumi said, sounding quite cheerful, "I missed this. It's simple but it's fun, don't you think?" She could draw on training she hadn't touched in years, training that she thought just had no place in these new kinds of battles. Hopefully she remembered most of it, or at the very least some of it. Making a fool out of herself wasn't what she'd come to do, though if it got a good laugh maybe she'd trip over herself once or twice.

"Yeah... An animal. It's kinda like a seal... Only a lot fatter, and it's got two big teeth like I showed ya." Takeshi didn't quite know how to explain it further than that so he added, "I'll take you to a zoo sometime, we can see one there probably." East City had a zoo, as far as he remembered. Never having gone there actually himself he had walked by plenty of times and would guess that the place had one. He was going to leave that well alone and get to eating when Shu instead had more questions for him, how unexpected. Lowering the curry bun he was about to eat the older boy frowned, tilting his head a bit as he started to think. "Well... A zoo is sort of like a place where animals live. They get little places to walk around and people feed them and take care of them. And people pay to see them, because it's neat, I guess? i don't know, never been there myself." Takeshi wasn't all that interested in animals he couldn't go and eat, and he was certain someone would get all miffed if he wandered in and started munching on the animals. Hm... Did they have penguin? He'd always wanted to try penguin, but it was too darn cold where they lived. Smiling at Shu he shrugged a bit, sticking his fork into a one of the bacon-sausages and starting to bite away at it, "You know... You don't have to learn to be good, because you already are good," he said, licking a bit of grease off of his lip, "And I can help you read, maybe. How's about we go to the library after this instead of playing, give it a try?"
Yumi didn't want to say she was taking pity on Viral, even if she was. It had to bother him immensely yet it was impossible not to feel sorry for him right now. Despite barely looking fit for fighting he wanted to go through with this, and she wasn't going to turn him down. Raising her own fists she smiled slightly, beginning to bounce on her feet a bit. "I'll get us started then. Let's see how many styles you can remember." A nice bit about her training was she knew all sorts of ways of fighting. Granted that rarely came through in their battles, she was usually too busy trying not to get beaten up to try mixing up her tactics. Maybe she should though, there were bound to be styles that aliens like the Saiyans wouldn't know, that could give her a clear advantage. Bouncing from her left foot to her right, Yumi slowly stepped in on Viral, starting by throwing a straight jab against his arm to test how solid he was. When he didn't collapse from that she threw another, still bouncing to stay light on her feet. If he didn't throw back any hits she would just keep striking now and again, not trying to start off on a high note.

Funny faces were out, and so were jokes, but maybe just acting like an all around goof would get Shu laughing. Grabbing two links of sausage, Takeshi carefully tucked them under his upper lip, turning to his brother and making an odd, quite poor Walrus impersonation. Like many things it was lost on the little guy, he hadn't a clue what was being done. Chuckling awkwardly the older boy reached up and removed the sausages, a single bead of sweat dripping down his forehead in embarrassment. "It's uh... It's an animal... You know... Big and brown, and they have big teeth like these sausages!" he explained, failing quite poorly in that regard too. Realizing he was probably going nowhere fast he let out a sigh, hanging his head as he dropped the meat back onto his plate. So that didn't work, surprise surprise. Lifting his head again he shook it slowly, turning back to his food. "When we get back to Earth you and I are going to a zoo. You seriously need to learn some things," Takeshi said, munching on one of the sausages,
Though... There's probably books in the library we could use. But you don't know how to read..." Agh, how was he supposed to teach Shu anything if he didn't even know the basics?!
Yumi gave a nod of understanding, stopping when they reached the mats on the floor. "Of course, whatever you need Viral," she said, "Just let me know if you want to go back or not." It would be a shame if he did want to back out but she would hardly force him into sparring. As it stood this wasn't slated to be all that intensive anyways and be more of something to pass the time. It ought not to be too difficult on Viral then if they were only getting the blood flowing and nothing more. "Okay... Okay. I just wanted to double check before we start." She didn't expect him to step out even if he wasn't completely up for it. Knowing him he was agreeing to this out of pride, or something like that. Yumi couldn't help but want to call it off now since his want to prove himself could end up hurting him. As it was he barely stood there with her support, and yet they were going to fight? Smiling slightly she eased her arm from around Viral, keeping a loose hold on him as she stepped away to make sure he wasn't going to fall. "We can start at your pace, and whenever you're ready."

Even food wasn't doing much to lift Shu's spirits, the little guy really was down in the dumps. Takeshi was beyond himself how to cheer his brother up, not sure if he even could for that matter. Trying to reassure the younger boy he'd done nothing wrong hadn't helped, and his goofy faces only managed to frighten him. Sighing to himself he filled his plate with a few curry buns and a couple strips of bacon and sausage, giving the same servings to Shu. This was more a snack than a meal, but a tasty snack at that. Choi and Kai would get no complaints from the Prince about what they had made, he was more than content with it. Out of the corner of his eye he caught Shu frowning at him, setting down the bun he was just about to bite into and looking over. "You're not being punished because what you didn't wasn't that bad. Kai's alright now, right Kai?" Takeshi asked, glancing across at his friend. "If you're hungry then eat! It's what we've got food for." Takeshi didn't have to be told twice to dig in himself, taking a sizable chunk out of the curry bun and munching away happily. He was trying to engross himself in food and relax but the knowledge that Shu was upset was really weighing down on him, he should try more to cheer his brother up. Peering at two links of sausage he smiled, grabbing them and carefully sticking them in his mouth so they were pointing down, poking Shu to get his attention, "Hey Shu, I'm a walrus!"
This room wouldn't do if they were doing anything more than simple hand-to-hand training. With all the machines and gear strewn about things were bound to fly, but for their purposes it would do just nicely. Smiling to herself after getting the doors open she led Viral inside, making a straight line for the mats in the center. "The room defeated you...? I don't think a room can do that..." she mumbled, thinking a bit too much into it, "Just give it a moment, maybe you need to adjust? Once you do I would imagine you'll be fine." Hopefully he wasn't having second thoughts now that they were down here. If Viral didn't want to do this then she wouldn't force him, it was only if the desire was mutual. "You still want to go through with the training? We can head back if you're not really feeling it."

Takeshi wasn't going to let Shu go off and pout if it could be helped. After shutting Kabocha up he took a seat at the table as well, putting some distance between himself and his friend. "Come on, have something to eat. You'll need energy for our games later," he said gently, giving the chair beside him a patting. Shu eventually did come over albeit reluctantly, seeming awfully somber as he settled down in his spot. Sighing inwardly he reached over, giving the younger boy a pat on the back and a smile for good measure, "You sound like you're being punished... Be happy buddy, we're having food with our friends." Speaking of food, here it came. Takeshi had a pretty good idea what was on the menu by scent alone, but nonetheless he beamed seeing what was brought out for them. "Oh wow... It looks awesome guys! You rock!"

It was always so strange seeing Takeshi being like that to Shu, gentle and supportive. That wasn't the Takeshi he'd known during their time in a squad, and Kabocha sort of preferred the other. He might have been a miserable jerk at times but at least that one wasn't a sap. Again he was thinking of things he not ought to be, probably just getting a bit agitated because he was hungry. The food they were brought wasn't quite what he'd expected, though it did smell good. Glancing at the plates he watched as Takeshi shamelessly began filling up his own, offering portions to his brother as well. Shaking his head, Kabocha went about taking bits here and there for himself as well. "That was fast, I can sort of see why though..." he remarked, picking up a piece of bacon and giving it a slight shake, watching grease drip off. Eh, no one ever said he was a healthy eater, munching on the strip contently.
Yumi smiled up at Viral as he spoke, slowing their pace a bit more now that they were approaching the training hall. "I'm sure you'll be able to fight. We're not going all out like you said, so there's no need to really push ourselves. Just something to keep each other from getting all rusty, right?" And goodness knows it was more fun than going to Viral's room and just sitting there. After some sparring they would probably do just that, find something more sedentary as not to overwork the Beastman. This was something that he needed though, Yumi felt, and it was only fair Viral get to do a little training if he wanted to. Stopping at the doors she carefully adjusted her friend's weight, reaching out with one hand and opening up the doors to the training hall. This one was outfitted with a bit more machines than the other, but still had a sizable space in the center, matted up for them to practice on. That would do just nicely, since they'd be doing nothing more than standard training.

Takeshi really felt like snapping at Kabocha for that one but kept his anger concealed. If he went off now then Shu was bound to only end up feeling the backlash and get upset, that was the last thing he wanted. By the looks of it though that happened regardless of how he acted, even a playful little prod didn't get so much of a squeak out of the little guy. Watching the odd display the older boy frowned, glancing back at his brother confused. "You haven't been bad, and you don't have to go to your room," Takeshi said gently, offering a small smile, "Accidents happen, Kai will be okay after a bit. You didn't really hurt anyone, everything is okay, right Kabocha?" he added, glaring over at his friend.

"Uh... Yeah, right." Kabocha reaffirmed, smiling nervously at Shu, putting his hands up a bit. "Forget what I said Shu, I was just kidding, joking around, that's all. And Kai doesn't hold grudges, he'll be over it in a little while and everything will be fine. So stay and have some food with us!" What a pain in the butt this was, having to play all brotherly to Shu. The kid really was quite useless, he'd be completely disregarded if not for his absurd power. Kabocha could almost understand why the King used a collar, otherwise it would be a miracle to get this one out of his room. Lowering his hands he sighed, running a hand back through his hair. Shu needed a backbone, and Takeshi sure was taking his sweet time getting around to giving him one.

That wasn't the ideal apology that Takeshi wanted, but it would do for now. "We'll have some food, then play, and when we're done having some more fun we can go back to our room together, okay?" The last thing Shu needed was to feel excluded and shunned, that never went well with him. It was one thing Takeshi had learned, thanks largely in part to a bit of input from Ikura. He'd asked about monkeys and how they worked as a family back on Earth, on a chance of getting a better idea about his brother. They were awfully social animals from what he understood, and excluding one fromt he group was pretty much the worst thing possible. So if Shu took after that aspect, which he did nearly other aspect, then sending him away was horrible. Taking a seat on the side opposite Kabocha, Takeshi gave the chair beside him a pat, "Come here Shu, sit your butt down will ya?"
"Scratching and biting is a way of fighting though. If I could do it and do it well then I'd be fighting that way," Yumi pointed out, "I'm just saying I'm not afraid of you doing that to me, even with your claws and teeth. And you won't be able to cut my flesh either way since you won't be able to catch me." Might as well try getting Viral heated up and ready for their spar session. He wanted to do it and yet didn't look to be fired up for it just yet, and they were nearly to the training hall now. This all would be fairly lackluster if the Beastman couldn't get vested in what they were doing. "We'll start with basic martial arts, and if we can do that fine then we'll go from there, that sound okay to you?" First things first, they had to see whether Viral could manage to stay upright or not.

Kabocha smirked as he reached out, flicking Shu's nose in a teasing manner. He just had to poke fun at the little guy, it was easy to when he was docile and there wasn't a risk of him going insane. If he didn't know better he would never think that the younger Prince was actually a Saiyan, he acted nothing like one. Even the meekest of Saiyans had more backbone than him, and more intellect to boot. Had to be his upbringing though, in the woods or wherever the hell Takeshi had said before. "How'd it taste? Like a hairy hot dog?" he asked, laughing it up. Getting a nice big knock on his head then, Kabocha reeled forward before gasping, his hands shooting up to cover where he'd been struck and glaring at Takeshi.

"Oops, sorry, my hand slipped," Takeshi said, smiling tightly, "You might want to shut up before you really annoy me, leave Shu alone." Such a pain to get along with Kabocha still, they always did knock heads. His friend was a bit too sarcastic and rude for his remark, and always had this condescending air about him. Well... Not always, most of the time they could get on with one another. But they had their moments, and Takeshi couldn't help but feel the other boy was a bit angry at him too for whatever reason. Rolling his eyes at the rude gesture he was given, Takeshi turned to Shu, smiling as he reached down and poked his brother in the stomach playfully, "Never mind what he said. So we're playing tag later, right? Wanna just run around the whole ship? Sounds better than being stuck in some old room, don't you think?"
"What will I do about it...? Hm... Well you could, um..." Hm, answering that was a bit tricky. "I guess I'll just be extra careful, that's all!" Yumi replied, smiling assuredly, "As long as I don't fight like an idiot I won't get hurt. And of course you need to be careful too, but don't worry about me so much, I can handle whatever you throw at me." Even if he did end up changing, worst case scenario, she should be fine. In the past she'd had some degree of luck with avoiding being on the receiving end of one of her rampant friends and she liked to think that luck would hold out. Were she aware of the truth of the matter she might be even more confident than she was now, rather than betting it all on how things worked in the past. "We'll just stick to traditional martial arts, that is about as safe as we can get, don't you think?"

Takeshi rather felt like cooking his own food, at least until Kai and Choi came into the kitchen. He'd come to accept they were better cooks than he was... In a kitchen at least. If he had a chance to have them make their meal then he'd be nuts to turn it down. Even if it was just fried food, something he or even Shu could probably manage it was bound to come out better with their touch. Taking his brother back to the dining hall he eyed the lone Kabocha thoughtfully before getting a smirk, walking over and slapping his friend on the head playfully. Inciting just the kind of reaction he'd expect he shrugged his shoulders, folding his hands behind his head. "I could... But you know, I don't think I'm all that normal," Takeshi replied, smiling amused, "And yeah, they're making it. Fried food, dunno what exactly. Bet it'll be good."

With two trained cooks working it had better be good. A meal just wasn't the same if you were made to eat sub-par food. Sure, socializing helped a little, but a bland bit of food could really soil mealtime. "Good... Good. Can't believe they thought I was going to cook, as if I would even know where to begin," Kabocha mumbled, shaking his head before smiling, "We really should find us some cooks, whatever planet we go to next maybe. Those two really hate cooking, I can tell, so we'll find someone else to do it for us." Surely they could recruit one or two aliens who would want to see the universe. Only problem with that was whether they would have any clue how to work with foreign ingredients like they had onboard. Glancing over at Shu for a second Kabocha chuckled lightly, reaching out to try and flick the younger boy's nose, "Someone tried to get a bit of lunch in early during sparring, huh?"
Yumi didn't see things as Viral did, it wasn't him breaking the rules. It was her idea to go and spar in spite of what Vegeta had said, he was just being compliant and going along with it. If anything went wrong then it was on her head, not Viral's. Much fun as she was hoping they would have fun she was rather nervous something could go wrong, or they would just be found out and Viral would get in trouble as a result. "We've been over this you know, how I'm not worried about you attacking me," Yumi said, reaching up and poking one of Viral's horns lightly, "I'm not worried about these, or you biting me, or your claws. Let's try to just focus on how much fun we'll have, okay?"

"If the food's been laying in the sink you don't want to eat it, just trust me..." Takeshi mumbled, pushing down the last of the leftovers. Shame they were no good too, it all looked rather nice. Maybe with some help from Kai and Choi they could make something like it, those two could easily replicate whatever Vegeta or Yumi made, probably even better. Seeing those very two come into the kitchen he smiled at them, only to be told to get out of the kitchen and let them work. Having his smile wane slightly Takeshi rubbed at his head, glancing at the twins before shrugging, offering his help. "So... We'll go wait outside then?" he asked rhetorically, glancing down at Shu, "Come on then buddy, we'll go sit with Kabocha."

Hmph... Kabocha almost missed being back on Kortal there for a moment. Sure he was just anoter pawn for the King, but at least there as a noble he commanded some degree of respect. A lot of that had gone away when Takeshi showed up and took control of the squad too, something he had been resentful of. Now not so much, he'd come to enjoy the company of the others in a different way than he had before, outside of that system of social classes and rank. Yet he still had that mindset to a degree and couldn't help but feel like he was being disrespected in some way. Brushing it off for now he sat down in one of the seats and slouched over, resting his chin in his hand as he stared at the wall. No sooner had he sat down did he feel a hand smack the back of his head, whipping around and narrowing his eyes at a grinning Takeshi. "You could say 'hello' like a normal person," Kabocha said, swiping out and getting nothing but air. Since the Princes were both out here, he realized, leaning to see the doors of the kitchen he smiled, "So the twins are cooking? Good."
With any luck no one would say anything to Vegeta, knowingly or otherwise. They were going in the opposite direction of either of their rooms so that was a dead giveaway. Unless one of them went and hurt themselves there should be no reason to visit him though, so with any luck they were safe. "Okay, I'll admit it wasn't the smoothest, but I'm a bit nervous!" Yumi said, smiling sheepishly, "We are technically... No, we're blatantly going against what Vegeta wanted. I don't think a bit of sparring will be bad for you though, you need exercise to stay healthy after all." She wasn't too sure how intensive it would be, seeing as Viral needed help just walking, but they'd give it their best shot anyways.

Whatever food was in the mess hall smelled awfully tasty, Takeshi wanted some of it. Unfortunately that food was sitting in a pile in the sink, all mushed together and spread out on the metal surface. Looking at it with a pout he began brushing it into the garbage disposal, woeful to have to waste such a quality meal. Hearing Shu come up beside him he glanced over, furrowing his brow before glancing back at the food before them. "Why not... Because it's in the sink, duh!" Takeshi replied, rolling his eyes, "The sink is probably all nasty and dirty, you wouldn't want to eat food that's been in there, even if it does smell good."

Kabocha was in the mood for all sorts of foods, not being particularly picky. So long as it was of adequate quality he wouldn't mind so much. Sure, Takeshi could cook a mean bird over a fire, but that was... Well it just wasn't the right way to cook. It was subpar at best, and frankly he just didn't enjoy that kind of food as much. As luck would have it though there were two former-royal chefs in their midst, and they could easily whip up something good. For whatever reason though Choi took exception to that request. "Me, cook? Hey man, let's be serious now. I've never cooked a single thing in my life, and you seriously think I can cook something good on my first try?" Shaking his head he smiled, folding his arms over his chest. "You two are trained to do it, and we're your friends, right? So why don't you cook your friends some good food?"

"We'll just make some more food, that's all, nothing to it," Takeshi added, smiling as he washed down the last of the food. Watching the last bits disappear he turned to see the twins coming in, silently relieved they were coming in to do the cooking, as he guessed. "Sure you don't want my help?" he asked, half kidding and half serious. He wouldn't mind cooking, especially if improving meant that he could provide better meals for himself and Shu. Though the little guy never seemed to mind roasted fruits and meats very much.
It was a bit awkward being caught out by everyone like that, Yumi hadn't expected to see their friends. In a slight paranoid panic she may have rambled a bit, but thankfully no one seemed any the wiser. Good thing too, she could definitely see a number of them going to Vegeta if they thought something was wrong. Passing by everyone and parting a small smile and wave to Choi. If they weren't both off to do something entirely different she might have stayed to chat with him, but Viral was wanting to spar and she didn't want to keep him from that for too long. Once they had rounded the corner and were out of view she glanced back just to be sure, sighing and smiling happily. "Right, crisis averted! On to sparring we go!" Maybe they should even get fitted with some boxing gloves, just another precaution to make sure they didn't get hurt at all. Maybe protective headgear as well, albeit that may not fit with Viral's horns.

"That was weird..." Takeshi said, nodding in agreement with Shu before smiling, "But whatever! It's time for some food!" He hadn't a clue what they were going to make or even what he was in the mood for, only that he was hungry. The smell of some recently cooked meals only served to heighten his appetite, maybe there was something left for them to munch on. The dining area of the mess hall was empty, unfortunately, though he could certainly smell food. Making a beeline for the kitchen he used his nose to follow the smell, manging to find a fair bit leftover in the sink. Now that was depressing, so much food just wasted. Were he actually starving he'd probably eat it, but this was a bit off putting. "That's just not right..." Takeshi mumbled, frowning as he began dumping food into the garbage disposal, "Rest in peace, food. You will be missed."

Kabocha hadn't seen Viral in quite some time now, since the last planet before Earth even. Boy did the Beastman look kind of lousy, even more so than usual. Plus what was with all those weird little protrusions? He'd apparently missed something big, Viral didn't look anything like his regular self. Watching him and Yumi wander off, Kabocha gave a shrug of his shoulders before following the others into the mess hall. "So what're we having to eat anyways?" he asked, glancing over at Kai and Choi, "I'm guessing you two are cooking, right?" They were the only ones that really knew how, so it just made sense for them to do it. Takeshi for whatever reason went right on ahead to the kitchen, making Kabocha begin to worry a bit. "Oh crap... Is he cooking...?" he asked, paling slightly, "He cannot cook! His food is so bland, and poorly prepared. You two need to cook!"
