Takeshi had no idea what was going on, why Krom had done that or why his father had just suddenly vanished. Not a whole lot was making sense right now, but he knew he needed to protect his brother and friends. Now this creep was lecturing him about protecting his friends, ironic considering this guy was the one responsible for a lot of them getting hurt. Scowling up at Krom when his Ki failed to gather he gave a soft scoff, trying and failing to snatch Shu back when he was taken. "That's rich coming from you, you know! It's your fault we're even in this situation, ever since you took Viral everything's just gone to hell!" He didn't know what pissed him off more, the fact Krom was telling him what to do or the fact he knew the guy was right; everyone down below needed help getting back to the shuttle, and Shu was probably out for a good while after a change like that. Despite his minor wounds he was the only one really who could get the others back to the shuttle, just grand.

"Don't tell me what to do... I'll save them, you just... Don't do anything to my brother," Takeshi warned, glaring at Krom as he finally rose to his feet, using Ki to float up off of the roof and ease himself back down to street level. To his astonishment Yumi was up and about already, albeit she had a few cuts on her person and a decent bruise on her forehead from wherever she'd landed. She was already seeing to Haku who, though he'd been hit hard, was conscious if a bit sluggish. The nearest one to him then was T'charrl, someone who was buried in rubble of all things. Hurrying over to where he'd seen his friend land he began hastily throwing aside bricks and debris, managing to finally uncover the Kaesstrian after a panicked moment. He seemed to be out of it and pretty battered from the hit he took, but at the very least he'd changed back and would be easier to manage. Easing the last of the debris off of T'charrl he gingerly lifted his friend up, ignoring the pain in his shoulder as he walked towards Yumi and Haku. "Hey... Seen the others?"

Yumi's head felt like it was on fire, and the gashes on her body stung something fierce, but otherwise she considered herself fine. So long as she could move she would be alright, particularly now that the fighting was over. It was over... Right? She couldn't see Yamate any longer nor could she sense his energy, yet something was off. Holding Haku to her side she glanced up at a not-too-distant rooftop and saw Krom holding Shu, earnestly baffled by what she was witnessing. He was the enemy, so why was he here? Where had the King gone? No way had they defeated him, she found that a bit hard to believe. Getting called back to focus by Takeshi she looked over at him, giving a small nod of her head, "Yeah... They're just down the road," she answered, reaching up and gingerly nursing at the bruise over her right eye, "Ow... Why is Krom holding Shu...? Why'd the fighting stop...? What happened?"

"I don't know... My old man left, Krom's here, we're done," the Prince replied bluntly, sending a disdainful glance back in Krom's direction, "It looks like he's helping us now, but I don't buy it. We gotta get everyone back to the shuttle though, we'll worry about him later." There was no way he'd changed to their side, something was up here and he didn't like it one bit. With T'charrl in tow now he and Yumi went over to find the twins and Kabocha, all of which were awake now if a bit bruised and battered. It took a fair bit of effort to move everyone, but after some time they all managed to get back to the shuttle. It was awfully lousy of them to just leave the planet as they had, but at the very least they had, in a way, stopped the attacks. Having shared a few words of parting with the alien who they had saved earlier they'd left, and now everyone was carefully being loaded up into the shuttle for transport. It would be a long, agonizing flight back to Uuonoe, and no doubt there'd be a plethora of questions once they arrived.
Takeshi didn't know if he could handle Shu right now, but he had to get the little guy away from the others at least. With his brother firing erratic blasts every which way it was only a matter of time until someone got hit, and with most everyone out for the count it'd only make things infinitely worse. Taking a gamble he had managed to grab onto one of Shu's arms, and with that he took off back into the air to distance themselves from the others. In hindsight perhaps grabbing an arm wasn't the best idea, it hardly limited Shu's mobility and left him plenty to attack with. The first sign that things were going wrong was when Takeshi felt the tail wrap around his midsection, unable to fend it off as he instead had to awkwardly reach back and hold Shu's other arm as well at bay. With all of this tossing about he was struggling to keep them steady, and once one of his brother's feet racked along his leg they plummeted a fair bit, Takeshi barely catching them as he fought to keep them from crashing. "Agh... Damn it Shu! It's me, stop!"

"That amongst other reasons. His unpredictable nature warranted the need for control, otherwise this will happen. Was it the kindest of methods? Admittedly no, but it made everyone around him far safer. Shu is too unpredictable, and he'll need your training and guidance to hone this strength of his. We need both of them for this war, and that means both have to be ready and able to fight." Takeshi wasn't so much difficult to control as he was a bit unpredictable, as he almost seemed to go off on random tangents at times. Both boys were going to require a fair bit of work, and the King was confident Krom was the right man for the job. "I highly doubt any of them will recover in due time, but it shouldn't be that difficult to handle. None of the others' wounds are serious, so moving them shouldn't be an issue. Don't let me down Krom, there's a lot riding on this." Clasping the man on the shoulder he turned to leave, taking one glance back when he heard a pained scream from Takeshi. Just as he'd thought, even his dear brother wasn't safe from Shu's fury. That boy was a hazard to everyone around him, this temper of his had to be brought under control. Shaking his head in disapproval he started away, taking off at a high speed back towards his own ship.

Things were looking pretty bad, and if being mauled by Shu wasn't terrifying enough now it looked like Krom was coming back into the fray. Hoping to get just a second's reprieve from it all Takeshi released one of his brother's arms and tried to aim at the Elite, watching in surprise as Shu was the target instead. Despite being attacked by him he was still determined to protect his little sibling, trying and failing to fend off the Elite from his odd position. Struggling between the wounds he now had and the awkwardness of supporting someone as big as Shu, Takeshi was ready for the worst when his brother suddenly stopped, and shortly thereafter began changing to his regular form. Wait what, what had Krom just done to him? Looking at the older man bewildered and accusingly he struggled to keep Shu in his arms, falling down to a nearby rooftop with a thud, dropping Shu as he slammed into the surface and let out a pained groan. "Ack! Damn it... Don't you touch him..." Takeshi growled, sitting up and promptly charging Ki in his injured arm but losing focus when pain shot through the limb, quickly grabbing his shoulder, "Leave him alone!"
"Come on Shu, cut it out! This isn't funny!" Takeshi shouted, "Stop before I have to hurt you!" Up here in the air he ought to be safe from those claws at least, a small saving grace in this whole mess. Much to his alarm and surprise his little brother picked up the now savaged vent system, throwing it up at him without a second thought. Extending out his good arm he quickly gathered Ki and fired it off, blowing apart the metal easily enough. Not expecting the blasts of energy that came after he had to lean back to avoid catching a blast to the face, gritting his teeth and swatting away another two attacks. Damn it, if he kept this up he could destroy the city, and nevermind that he may accidentally hit one of their friends. There wasn't much way around it then, he needed to try and stop Shu by beating him. Tch, and there was his father and Krom too of course, both of them were just sitting by watching like this was some spectacle. Flying back down through the blasts he got in close and tried to do the only thing he could think of; somehow get a hold of Shu and move him away, somewhere that he wouldn't at least hit one of their friends in his rage. Once close enough he dodged a swipe and tried grabbing the offending arm, attempting to take off with his brother in tow.

It may be said that this was not the most direct way to gauge the boys' strength, but then Yamate rarely did things the direct way. While it may not be the most accurate gauge either; Takeshi fighting with inhibition and Shu gone rampant, at least they got a glimpse at the latter's strength. The display of blasts coming from his youngest child was interesting in only the fact it had no rhyme or reason to it; Shu was quite literally just firing off shots now. One such shot came hurtling their way and, as it happened, in the direction of their friends. Frowning in slight annoyance he swatted the energy skyward, raising an arm and blasting the energy well above their heads to be rid of it. "Shu is capable of that because his birth is unique. He's a half-breed, yes, but he's also a bit of an experiment. Takeshi is human and Saiyan by origin, Shu is not. I don't need to spell out what that means, do I?" The Princes, while both his sons, were not true brothers, at least not completely. They were likely too naive or dim to realize that, probably chalking it up to some other reason. "Ready or not, they're taking too long on their own, that much is clear. They need the instruction, and I leave that to you." Seeing Takeshi attempt to move Shu away the King frowned, looking over at Krom and nodding his head in their direction. "Go, make sure this ends well. Knocking Shu out will cause him to revert, just aim for the middle of his neck. I should be getting back, make certain Korian hasn't done anything rash. Report back as soon as you can, understood?"
Takeshi wasn't sure how badly he'd been struck, though he could move his arm still with relatively minor pain. Probably just a superficial wound, albeit it sucked to get hit like that by his brother. Hoping to get a moment to think he took to one of the nearby rooftops, hiding behind a ventilation system for cover. There had to be some way of making Shu stop, whether that was through talking him down or forcing him; if he went all out then maybe he could stop Shu, but did he really want to do that to his brother? "Come on... Think!" Placing a hand over his bloodied shoulder he immediately clammed up once his little brother came up onto the roof, slowly easing to the corner of the system to see where he was. Damn it, the kid was really after him wasn't he? Part of him had hoped once he vanished Shu would go back to their father, evidently he wasn't so lucky. Figuring himself still safe he paled some when Shu bolted for him abruptly, diving out of the way as the vent was smashed under his brother's claws. Gritting his teeth in frustration Takeshi moved up into the air in hopes of keeping out of reach, wondering what his chances were again of fighting Shu. "I won't say it again buddy, calm down already!" he shouted, frowning as he added under his breath, "Cuz I really don't want to fight you..."

As expected, Shu was more looking for just an outlet for his anger. It didn't matter who it was it seemed, so long as he had something to release that frustration on. The fact that the younger Prince was so willing to attack his brother proved the point Yamate had been making all along; Shu had a lot of power but absolutely no control, rendering all that strength of his useless. Per usual Krom seemed to find fault with his plans, which while annoying was not fully unexpected. "This is a test, don't you see that? Is Takeshi strong enough to fight Shu like this, or will he? Is Shu so vicious he'd tear his dear brother to bits? I'm planning to see what comes of this, that's all. And if it gets too intense I'll split them up," the King said casually, glancing over at Krom, "As things stand he might be able to kill you, and I'm not letting that happen. You've still a duty to fulfill, or did you forget?" Up above he could hear Takeshi shouting to Shu, trying to reason with a beast for whatever unfathomable reason. Such a futile effort, it was clear the second he swung at the older boy that Shu was beyond reason now. "You do remember your job here, don't you? This is where we'll be parting ways."
Link was stressing out, anyone with a decent pair of eyes could see that much. Though Caelan was feeling quite a lot too he wasn't going to break down like that, it was just something you couldn't be doing out here. He'd spent a fair share of his earlier days freaking out whenever he and his companions at the time hit a roadblock, and all it did was waste time and make everything harder. Best to just swallow your worries and deal with it later, far as he was concerned. That was what he'd like to say, but somehow he figured it wasn't exactly going to sit too well with Link; the other boy needed some kind of reassurance most likely and that was something well outside of his expertise. There seemed to be some kind of loss of translation between Link and Demoko as well, causing the former even more grief than he already had. Caelan wasn't too sure what he was on about either, but at least he recognized there was more to it than simply being tired, you only had to listen to the kid to figure that much out.

With their numbers seriously reduced and both him and Link exhausted, Caelan couldn't see any recourse other than taking a break. Trying to travel now was going to be hell, and they weren't even sure where it was they were heading yet. The banks of a river ought to be as good a place to rest as any too, as they'd have water and perhaps a place to catch fish, if they were lucky. Getting food here wasn't their only cause for concern however, as they also had nothing on them for the road; if anyone had supplies then they were exhausted or gone in the currents, and as things stood there was nothing. They could get water from his waterskin to be fair, but that didn't help their case unless fish came in it too. Maybe then heading to the nearest town was their best course of action, just to get some supplies and get some bearings on where they were heading. Like seemingly everything today however it had triggered an uneasy response in Link.

"It's not the first time I'll have sneaked into a town, and it won't be the last," Caelan remarked confidently, smirking as he removed his shirt and squeezed a little excess water out before slipping it back on. "If you're worried about me going alone then come with me. Depending on where we are I might know someone who can help, and even if not I'll find a way to get us in unseen. Also I don't know what you mean by nobody, you're here aren't you?" Man, this kid had zero confidence didn't he? Rubbing at his head he looked over to Demoko, hoping the old man might be able to give them a hand here. "You know we need supplies too, don't you? If you can just tell us which direction the nearest town is then Link and I can head there tomorrow. We won't last very long if we don't have any food for the trip." Being captured and killed was a possibility, sure, especially after defeating Onyx and a few dozen soldiers; if they didn't do anything though then starvation was a possibility too, unless they were lucky and found food every time they needed it. Meals out in the wild were unpredictable, he'd rather have something in tow just in case they struck out.
Takeshi would pay attention to everything else, but only once he'd beaten Krom. There was no way he could stop this fight without leaving the Elite in a heap, especially not if the guy was going to come back at them again anyways. This beating was long overdue and he was only too happy to hand deliver it, if he could that is. In trying to throw some variety into his attacks he went in for another strike, instead using Krom as a base as he vaulted up, sending himself back down and slamming the man to the ground. It might have been just the opening he wanted were it not for someone's interference; given the energy coming off of them he thought it was his father at first, yet to his shock turned out to be Shu. Looking at his brother astonished he ducked hastily under a massive claw, pushing back off the ground to avoid a smash that probably would have torn him in two.

"Shu, relax! It's me, Takeshi!" the older boy shouted, gasping as he narrowly dodged getting ripped into by one of the claws. Damn it, he knew Shu had changed but when had he gotten so far along? Last time he'd gotten this bad he'd lost his tail, albeit his power hadn't been nearly what it was now back then. How was he supposed to stop the little guy anyway? Yumi was out so he couldn't rely on her, and now Takeshi was worried that their father or Krom might get into the fight. Wanting nothing less than to hit Shu, the older boy had to keep on the defensive, finding it rather difficult to avoid all of these fast strikes coming in. At one point he would trip over his own feet, cussing loudly and raising his arms to block an incoming swipe, being batted away like an insect as Shu's blow connected, sending him flying away as he only just caught himself before smashing into a building. Damn it he hit like a truck and he was fast, this was going to get bad very fast. Hoping that perhaps Shu might be too out of it to really think, the older boy vanished and moved to an adjacent rooftop, sitting down behind a small duct as he tried to come up with a plan. "Shu, you have to calm down! I don't want to hurt you!" Yeah right, if he even could. Feeling a warmness on his shoulder Takeshi reached back and found blood, not having realized his brother caught him with his claws earlier. Well that was a fine mess, he really had to try and figure this out quick.
Takeshi wasn't even going to waste his breath arguing with Krom, he was much too livid to bother. All he wanted to do was hurt this man, and do so in the most painful and violent way possible. All of his friends being hurt, this whole war, it was all the fault of these two men. Maybe he couldn't get to his father this second, but he'd make due and take everything out on Krom instead. Trying to slam an orb of Ki into Krom's side he narrowed his eyes when the strike was diverted, gritting his teeth and continuing to throw punch after punch, meeting the Elite in a clash of blows. His arms and legs were beginning to sting from the repeated hits, but he was hardly going to back off because of some soreness. When Krom began firing blasts away at him Takeshi moved in, swatting aside the energy as he flew in to close the distance. Once close enough to actually strike the guy he reached out like he was going to strike, instead pushing off of his shoulder and flipping up, using his Ki then to try and drive his shoulder down into the man's back.

"That's right... If you wish to take your anger out on someone, take it out on Takeshi," Yamate said, smirking as he gestured back to the elder brother. There was a brief moment where his goading almost seemed to work, yet with another ear-piercing shriek Shu lost it again. In another shocking increase in power and size alike, the youngest Saiyan was now fairly intimidating looking, and he had not lost any speed despite his size. Things were beginning to get a bit more serious now, this was some sizable power they were dealing with. The King's smirk gave way to a frown, and he began dodging to either side and ducking beneath blows, watching how Shu's claws tore through concrete and stone without any problem. Certainly a lot of power there, shame he had to go into this uncontrollable, frantic state to use it. Reaching up as one arm swiped down at him he managed to catch it, though he was pushed back slightly from the force. Seeing the other arm coming in from the opposite side Yamate had to dodge, vanishing and coming in behind Shu. The first thing he did upon reappearing was try to knock the boy's legs out from under him with a sweep, and should that work he'd grab whatever limb was closest and begin spinning him, having the intent to throw him into Krom and Takeshi; it was time to see just how unruly Shu was in this state, whether he could differentiate friend from foe.
Takeshi couldn't fight his father right now and that pissed him off: he couldn't fight any of the other creeps who had hurt his friends, and that pissed him off: Shu was no in trouble too and that only served to piss him off even more. How he was holding it together he didn't know, but he was getting dangerously close to his breaking point. Throwing some vicious strikes at Krom he winced when they slammed their legs into one another, continuing up the attack right up until Krom backed off from him. There was a brief pause in the fighting when both Shu and T'charrl began to morph, causing Takeshi's heart to sink at the sight of it; they had been trying to avoid this, and now with all of their friends down he was supposed to somehow beat these two and keep his brother and friend under control. Trying to focus back on the fight at hand he scowled when Krom blasted T'charrl, getting ready to attack for that sleazy move until another blast went screaming by him, smashing into his Kaesstrian friend and sending the kid tumbling into a building, tearing it to shreds in the process. Was that his father's attack? It had to be, he doubted Shu had intentionally just aimed at their friend, even in his state. "You bastards... I'll kill you for that!" Takeshi screamed, his own energy beginning to rise quite rapidly as he tensed up on the spot. "For hurting our friends, for hurting my brother, I'll make you both pay!" Vanishing abruptly on the spot he reappeared right before Krom, letting out a shout of anger as he swung a hand out at the guy, Ki gathered in the palm as he tried to make contact and then release it simultaneously.

"This is grand... So you do have power! Shame we can't tap into it!" Yamate laughed, stepping to the side to avoid the erratic blast. Though he was acutely aware of what was happening behind him, and the fact Takeshi too was now rampant, he was too focused on Shu at the moment to look into it. Krom would have to deal with it himself, and so long as he didn't do anything stupid he'd be fine. Watching his son come at him with claws swinging once more he reached out and caught both wrists, and with a slight exertion of strength he lifted the now larger fighter up and slammed him down onto his back, taking up into the air and gathering a blast of Ki, aiming it down at Takeshi. If he perhaps eliminated the eldest boy first then maybe Shu might achieve an even higher level of strength, then maybe they'd have something worth fighting. With energy gathered he aimed it directly at his son and Krom, letting the blast fly with no regard for his own man. To Yamate's slight surprise Takeshi was quick to react, coming at the blast and smashing it away with a strike of his own, sending the energy careening off into an adjacent building and obliterating it. With a slightly amused smirk he watched as his son went back at the Elite, leaving the King once more to contend with Shu. "To think... If your brother wasn't such a helpless moron then none of this would be happening," Yamate mused, grinning as he looked at Shu, "It's his fault you were taken, it's his fault your friends lie broken and beaten. And it's his fault you're afraid and powerless. I tried to help you Shu, it's your beloved brother who's the cause for harm."
Takeshi hadn't quite snapped just yet, though he was certainly growing furious over all of his friends being hurt. Coupled with the fact that he now knew Shu to be in danger propelled him further to try and finish off Krom. There was a slight hitch in that plan though, he wasn't willing to outright kill the man; he had to be a good person for Shu, and even if they were the enemy he should try just beating them, shouldn't he? That's what the good guys did or whatever. Watching as T'charrl actually managed to knock the guy down, Takeshi rushed back in immediately after Krom had gotten back to his feet. "Don't ignore me you bastard!" Moving in he reeled back the right side of his body to feign a punch, instead however making a quick jab with his left. Landing on his left foot he then swung his body around and tried drilling a knee into Krom's gut, hoping to make him at least stagger before attempting a two-handed, over the head strike to smash the Elite into the ground.

"I hurt you because you are weak. If you were half the warrior I wished you were then you'd be fine," Yamate said plainly, frowning as he looked at Shu with disapproval, "Show me some strength, give your father a reason not to be ashamed of you." Ah, there was that surge in energy again, perhaps now things would become interesting; the battle did take a turn for the more interesting, albeit not in the way the King had imagined. In a very abrupt shift, Shu had taken on that abnormal Oozaru form of his, going promptly into a rampage thereafter. The increase was honestly impressive, Yamate could understand how Krom had lost to the boy before. As imposing as this new strength might be however it meant nothing without control, and sure enough Shu came at him without any inhibition whatsoever. With speed still on his side the King darted back and forth to avoid the furious swipes, smirking as he even struck out and smacked Shu on his nose to antagonize him. "You're pathetic until you change, and even when you do you've no control. You're nothing but an unpredictable, helpless little mess, hardly fit to be a warrior!"
There was still a bit of food left over in his pack, which while meant for reserves Ethan figured they could eat it, restock at the next town perhaps. It would be difficult to split what was left four ways but they'd make it work; some food in their belly was better than nothing, especially if they would be traveling again. Smiling at Amuné once she had finally woken up he gave her a small wave, watching Wyth stretch out as well with a small chuckle. "Morning you two! Hope you slept okay, sorry the ground was kind of rough," Ethan said, again raising his arms above his head to pop a kink in his back. Hearing an unusual sound off to the side he glanced over curiously to Cecil, eyebrows raising in surprise at watching him remove part of his leg casually and begin oiling it. So he really was a Machina, or at least part machine... Huh.

"I guess that's one less mouth to feed though, which is handy..." he mumbled, smiling as he leaned over and grabbed up his bag. There wasn't terribly much inside of there, just a few strips of dried beef and a small pouch of grains, but it was better than going hungry. Taking out the beef he moved over to where Amuné and Wyth were stood, kneeling down and handing them each two strips, saving one for himself. "After we eat we'll get moving again, so go ahead and chow down you two!" Popping his own slice into his mouth, Ethan then went over to Cecil and watched him curiously for a moment, earnestly intrigued that the other boy was actually Machina. It wasn't really his place to ask, but he had so many questions for Cecil right about now; Ethan had very limited knowledge of machines anyways, not exactly having an abundance anywhere this far out west. Though technology had been booming it hadn't quite gotten out here yet, and only small instruments and the like were even seen around.

"That's so cool... It must be hard though, keeping that clean..." Did dirt get stuck in it a lot? Could Cecil rust? What about the weather, did any of that bother him at all? Again there were at least a dozen questions, yet he'd keep them to himself as he didn't want to come across as nosy and rude. Back on the topic of their getting moving again he figured it was a decent idea to plot their course, have some idea of where they were heading before they started off again. Waving over Amuné and Wyth he removed his map from his pouch, laying it out on the ground before himself and using some small rocks to hold it in place.

"So this is the village we were just in, I think. Or maybe it was the one I was in a few days ago..." Ethan began, pointing to a small highlight on the near-Western edge of the map, "I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm heading east towards the cities. And east is... Well..." Looking up from the sheet of paper he smiled sheepishly, looking every which way before letting out a small chuckle, turning his focus back to the map. "Right... And if we were here yesterday..." he added, pointing to the town before moving it to an adjacent one, "Or were we here...? I guess it could be the one north of there too..."
