Genkai — Roleplayer Guild

Roleplay Requirements and Expectations:

- This can be in any of the following regions: Kanto, Jhoto, Hoenn or Kalos.

- I expect us both to post anywhere from three to seven paragraphs. This is just a general range but it ensures we don't go below three, should you want to make the minimum higher, that's fine but three is the absolute minimum I can accept and use to push us forward. Considering this is advanced, I do expect the posts to be detailed, progressive and thoughtful. 

- I also expect a post every few days. I will start classes soon and people have work, I get that. I don't mind waiting as long as it's not forever. So I'd also like us to plot and keep each other in the loop if issues in the RP or in real life pop up. Some communication is better than none, and again, with advanced I assume my partner knows how to be respectful.

- Romance will happen eventually, but it doesn't mean it's an endgame. Just because people find love, doesn't mean it sticks or doesn't have its up and downs. Other relationships should also be developed, be it with family, friends or any possible rivals. 

- This isn't centering around your typical plot, I want to do something different and for us to both have fun.

- I did try this about a million years ago on the Old Guild in a group setting and may try that again, if this seems to work well.

Roleplay Premise:

They didn't have dreams of becoming a Champion after defeating the region's Leaders, nor did they dream of breeding pokemon or researching them. Their dreams were a little off the beaten path. They dreamed of helping people and pokemon in need. They dreamed of being a beacon of hope when there was none to be found. Together they started a business in which they became couriers to those in need, in tricky desperate situations. People would call from whatever route they were in and list the supplies they needed to help themselves or their pokemon. In under a year, their reputation had spread across the region and some people were now trying to take advantage of them by putting fake distress class out in order to ambush them and take their supplies, money and pokemon. 

And a year and a half into their honest hard work, rival services are becoming to crop up, claiming to be cheaper and faster.

Their dream refuses to die though. Since day one, it's been the two of them but now they are working hard to expand their business and enlist the help of other skilled folks. As their dream infects others who have big hearts and brave souls, two years into their venture, the region's sinister criminal gang decides it could also benefit from one of these stylish prompt courier services. The criminal gang begins to lure and corrupt many of the rival services and before long, they decide they need to do something about it, rival business or not, innocent people and pokemon shouldn't be bullied around and forced into labor. Should [they go undercover and pretend to accept the deal to work for an evil group? Or should they combat them head on with the help of their new allies? It's a tough call and clearly not the only two paths to be considered.

With the region seeking any help it can, they are well aware that time is limited and that the Leaders and Elite Four can only keep so much peace in the cities and towns. They are clearly willing to do whatever it takes to bring justice and hope to everyone in need, even if it means betrayal, deception, greed, slavery and even murder. 

Roleplay Closing Thoughts:

I gave a very general outline of events I've considered to happen in the future during our RP. Nothing is by means set in stone but I wanted to give us a mix of slice of life, of something harmless soon evolving into something very serious and very threatening. I think some people downplay the criminal acts going on in the franchise and I'd like us to really take them into consideration. What do grunts do? I'm sure building hideouts takes labor and I would also wager a guess that these evil gangs aren't above turning pokemon into killing machines or doing testing on human's they've captured or bullied into joining their cause. I do expect us to play a few characters, be them good and evil. I also assume we won't be playing a lot all at once. We have a chance to bring in good guys, only to have them go rogue and turn against their friends and join the criminals, or to try and be some double agent.

Whatever happens, I hope there's plenty of routes to inspire some interesting characters and relationships. While this will be a serious roleplay over time, I don't see it ending if/when our heroes bring peace back to the region. I really like the grit of travel and keeping things realistic in this roleplay. Traveling doesn't happen as quickly as in the games or as weirdly eventful as it does in the manga or anime. Travel means living within your means, making sure everyone is fed. I'd like us to take to heart, the idea of training running out of food or medicine and it not being as instantaneous as in the game. If someone really does run out of healthy pokemon, they really are in trouble. If they're stuck somewhere without a pokemon who can help get them up a cliff or off an island during a rough storm, they are going to need help and that is where our duo (later to be group) of helpers come in. The events above won't happen over night and we need to work on development and pacing so that events happen naturally.

As a final disclaimer, we won't be keeping track of a pokemon's level/moves/stats and they will need to be useful pokemon, not rare or uncommon types. Also, when thinking about a character, keep in mind the big theme here is to be positive and helpful, not have some crazy history of abandonment and issues with being social. Our characters will need to be balanced, fair and believable. And they will be in their mid to late twenties because it just makes sense.

On Saturday I went to a party where we played a bunch of games and had some good food, then we went to a spirit distillery and had a tasting of different vodka, brandy, gin and liquors. And then we went back and had more food and romped around the area, it lasted a goof 10-12 hours. On Sunday I went shopping and then met up with an online friend to give her some stuff and we talked for a good amount of time and then some friends came over to the house, we drank and did some gardening and had a nice time. It was overall, a pretty fun weekend and not something I'd do very often lol

If we did have the group attack, there be some kind of interaction before Prim and Gale run for it, they could lose one of the careers in the wetlands but it might also make the others, retreat. It would also mean Prim and Gale don't get a lot of rest and would need to be more careful moving, come morning.
