Haymitch's remark made her scoff in amusement, mostly because she knew it was true. But that felt like so long ago, and when you thought about what kind of people they were, not just to each other, time really seem to elongate itself. There wasn't enough time to look back and laugh at how things had changed. Even if she wanted to, it wasn't the right time nor place. Katniss hoped there would be time, whenever this was over. Maybe when it was, there would be a way to escape, to be rid of every stupid thing the Capitol had put everyone through. It was wishful thinking, the sort Katniss rarely indulged herself in, but it was better than thinking that in three days, her mother would be without both daughters.

No, she and Prim would somehow make it out and with any luck, Haymitch and Gale and everyone else who wanted something better, would be out of the clutches of the evil man who thought he could rule over everyone without any consequences. By the time she and Haymitch managed to make their escape, her mind was nowhere near Snow and what he was truly capable of, instead she was thinking about her survival and Haymitch's. They had a goal to get to the edge of the arena and at least that would grant the pair some protection. Whether or not it would pay off, was unknown but Katniss was willing to follow Haymitch's plan because it gave them something to strive for, no matter how small in the grand scheme of things.

Tiny pricks of pain attacked her ankles and calves and she chewed on her lower lip as a means to do something that didn't entail snapping out in anger. Thankfully Haymitch tended to the little buggers and she watched with a cringing face as he got them off of her. Even with them coming off, the pain hadn't gone away but she hoped it would, given a little bit of time. Her mind went to her sister and she felt a bundle of worry for the girl but also appreciation. Even Gale, had done so well with training and despite the grim obstacles in the arena, she was sure they were getting along fine, she could feel it and it made the pain slightly less annoying.

"Thanks..." She finally said after letting her breath out in small doses. "I...I don't...no." She bit down on her lower lip again but tasted blood so she stroked it with her tongue, not wanting a foolish accident to somehow be the thorn in her side that distracted her or became infected somehow. "I'll be fine though." Katniss waved a hand at the man, giving him a strained smile. Honesty wouldn't save them though, "It hurts but I think once we get moving, it'll go away." She told him now.

"What about you?" The archer wondered. It seemed one had gotten hold of him and she was quick but careful to get it off of him. She flung it elsewhere over her shoulder and finally they got their feet. "I can't even see over the grass." She scowled and jumped from one foot to the other but was ultimately unable to get a good look at what was actually ahead of them. Katniss gave up and looked to Haymitch. "Anything could be hiding in there." She mentioned. In her mind, she saw beasts more than anything else, on the prowl much like themselves. "We could always try to kill something and use it for food?"

Gale was certain he could wait. The hunger wasn't new, in fact it was very much like an old friend. One that taunted him from time to time but was also there when not much else was except for those like Katniss and Primrose. Gale and his family knew luck as much as they did hunger and he wanted to wait until he didn't have a choice, until his body and mind were insisting that he eat something for the sake of continuing. For now though, he could greet the old friend with a fickle smile and know that in due time, they could find another meal and wouldn't have to resort to their ration so soon.

At the mention of rope, Gale felt rather stupid. "Right right." He nodded and then undid what he had done and threw it aside, finding no use for it. "Your memory is a lot better than mine." He laughed a little and could almost hear everyone else watching beyond the arena, having a good laugh at the boy's expense. It didn't matter though. The rope would be useful and then they could put it away again without wasting it or cutting it up. "It's fine, don't worry, I'll be fine." He told Prim lightly. Her concern was valid but he didn't think his clothes would matter much in a few days.

The attire they had to wear was somewhat confining, didn't suit Gale much anyway. He liked the lighter clothes that didn't feel so tight. He tried to shake off the mild embarrassment as she began to make a knot. Gale looked to her, not sure if she needed to work herself up over a simple gesture of him shedding his clothes. He didn't really care what happened to it but he also knew he couldn't be as careless as he was right now. Still, what was done was done and neither of them were going to take the time to sew it back so Gale wanted to move on and get going soon. With their backs to the marshy area, he still felt as though some kind of horrible thing could jump out and drag them into the murky depths where no remains could be found of them.

"If you need help, I can..." His voice trailed off when Prim finally made a knot. In his mind, a sleeve wasn't going to save him from a cut or some other thing. If anything, it would make sure he saw he had an injury in the first place. Plus the air felt nice. Still, he didn't want them talking in circles when they needed to actually move on now. Once they were attached and given a little more room to move around in case they needed to fight, they started to creep through the tickling grass.

With his bare arm, he felt the soft feathery touches and pursed his lips, trying not to break his serious expression. Gale found little point in looking around though, as there would be nothing noteworthy to see except the same bland color and shape all around them. He breathing in and out through his nose and kept looking ahead, hoping that wherever they were going, was safe. The ground under them was soft and dry and Gale was hoping the marsh had the worst of the trick's up its sleeve. After four or five minutes of slow progress, he finally noticed they were being watched. "Something is nearby." He said quietly and stopped. Yes, they were being watched by Gale couldn't hear anything distinguishable and wondered if it was a person or something else. As risky as it was, Gale began to undo the knot, needing them to evade quickly.
Lovely, @Blackmist16 it's an idea weird enough to work I think!
GM Notes:

Am I crazy?

Yes, somewhat.

I've been craving a fantasy group roleplay for a while. Some get off the ground, others don't. That's how things work. The same could be said for any other genre of roleplays like slice of life, nation, science fiction or even Pokemon or Naruto. My other inkling has been to do something with either Legend of Korra, Naruto or Pokemon and right now I think Pokemon may be the easiest to work on so let's do it.

The expectations...

I'm going to be looking for three to four other roleplayers who have a creative wild side who can also commit to something, even when they have school or work or lead a secret life fighting crime. I want a small group because it diminishes waiting time but also allows each player to have their say in matters and give input while being happy and productive. I don't want to rule RPs with an iron fist or nag people to post. I want to create a story that people want to take part in, and when it becomes fun as opposed to an obligation, posts and ideas tend to come more naturally.

Now in terms of post size and frequency I'm going to be fair and say that if you give me four to five paragraphs every week or so, I'll be happy. I use Rounds to run my RPs and it ensures people remain included. Each Round begins with my post and then everyone else is allowed to post whenever but only once. When everyone has posted, I'll post and a new Round begins. It can be slow at times but I stand by the practice of including writers and not rushing people. However if a player does miss more than two consecutive Rounds, they will be put on probation, followed by a big boot from the story if they continue to fail to make time for the story or at least write themselves off to the side or give GM consent to control their role.

Anyway onto the craaaaazy idea...

General Idea:

The setting and history...

I want to take the setting of Dragon Age Origins and add more to it, flesh out new locations. I will make sure non-DAO players are well informed of the settings as well. I will then make my own additions to the lore and backstory to explain why certain creatures exist and how they will come into the story.

The Pokemon, races and plot...

Pokemon will become Darkspawn, infected like your typical Hurlocks and what not. Pokemon will live alongside the elves and dwarves. Pokemon will be wild but also tamable. I will give a light overview of what City Elves are and Dalish Eviles are, as well as the different castes that come into play with dwarves. The pokemon we can pick from however, will not be limited by the region but by a limited list I deem suitable for the setting we have for the story. I'm thinking natural pokemon like Rapidash, Goldeen, Rattata, Taillow, Poochyena, Natu, Vivillon, Luvdisk, and even Rayquaza.

So pokemon that could possibly evolve, unlike say Rotom, Magnemite or Vanillish for example.

In terms of the plot, I will have us follow the idea that a Blight is upon is, meaning hordes of creatures are coming up from the ground and attacking villages and people and it's up to our group to stop them.

Unlike the game, we won't be called Grey Wardens but will instead Wardens. The color that precedes the Warden title will depend on what Pokemon you have tamed and taken by your side (like the Dog). There is no color that is better than the other but I do expect our characters to have a balance so not everyone picks a fire type or flying type. There will also be strict limitations to your pokemon of choice as well as what you can pick from. The pokemon you pick will be with us on our journey to travel the land and save people from the Blight.

Unlike DAO, there political intrigue will be shuffled around a little just to make things more interesting.

There will still be magic involved if your character is a mage, and if your character is a dwarf, they will sill remain immune to it. Where pokemon come into place, will be very interesting since their attack are quick like magic...

Our characters will still be expected to do most of the fighting with their pokemon being a secondary tool on their journey.

There won't be Gyms or Badges to collect but something similar for the sake of possible (friendly) competition in the future among the group. Overall, this is going to be a grim story and I'm hoping to bring some color to the fantasy trope, as well as the pokemon one. I am sure whether you're a fan of Dragon Age or Pokemon, this is something you might have fun with fiddling with. I know my idea seems a little scattered but once I know I have a few interested folks, I will be able to formulate a formal OOC with all the needed information for anyone who is thinking of jumping in and saving the world while having a badass creature by their side.

Quick Questions:

Will we still fight dragons? Really dragons that aren't pokemon?

Yes yes.

Will becoming a Warden have been treacherous?

You bet your ass.

Will I get to raise my bloody ax and nail someone in the side of the face if they're being a dick and taking advantage of refugees?

Go for it, mate.

Do I need to have a pokemon?

Yes but if you'd rather have one that heals or just lifts heavy things or produces fire, that's fine, it doesn't have to be a major component to your Warden if it's not your thing.

Do we get quests?

Yes I will list different quests in the OOC which we'll find in the IC and decide which to tackle.

How old are our characters going to be, you think?

I'm aiming for somewhere in the 20-30s.

Will our characters know each other when we start?

Only if you want, it might be best if they do though.

How much combat will there be compare to story?

25% combat, 40% quests/story, 15% travel and 20% development/conversations/camping...if my math is correct.
Kingdom of Ferelden: Woodsmen Outpost

For Wystellia, the span of time she spent awake, while outweighing her times spent dreaming, was astonishingly unknown. For someone connected to the Fade and its endless pathways and crevices, the mage wasn't sure how long she had been in recovery mode. Her body had been struggling to not only heal the physical but also the emotional wounds she endured while in the hopeless battle at Ostagar. When she finally felt well enough to stand and survey her own body, she found herself relieved to see no injuries. The bruising, cuts, gashes and broken limbs had been repaired, mostly by her own skills. When she was conscious, she recalled herself healing as much as she could before she grew tired and fell back into a state of abyss where suffering was only known to the unfortunate souls.

Upon stepping outside, she was greeted by timid daylight and deduced that it was early morning.

Even with the sun back by her side, Wystellia wasn't sure if she felt hope within it. Shaking her head, someone quickly approached her and saw how miracles it was that she was alive and walking after just two days of finding her way to their little village. Wystellia confessed that she owed her survival to her magical blood and said that she hoped no trouble had followed her to the outpost. The woman with thin jaw bones and grey hair shook her head and said the Maker willed not just one, but two Grey Wardens to survive and do their duty. Much to Wystellia's surprise, the woman wasn't mad, and was actually telling the truth of how another, older, man had also came from the very same bloody display of disloyalty and shock.

"I'd like to see him as soon as he's well enough to speak." Wystellia asked the old woman. To the mage, she knew an ally was better than going it alone. But he would be of no use until he could speak and then walk. The dark haired woman turned and returned to the cabin from where she had originated from, with the old woman following behind her. Once back inside, Wystellia sat down on the bed and rubbed her face, trying to piece back together more of the night that remained in fragments. She remembered how she felt and she also remembered the things she saw but it was still a very muddled picture running through her head.

Had Loghain truly betrayed the King and Duncan?

Her dry lips pressed together and she looked to the fire in the brick fireplace and got up to get her staff which rested against the wall. Once it was back in her hand, she flicked it to the fireplace and the embers came to life again, giving the room a much warm feeling. Was it hope? There was another one of her kind and she was sure that hope could be found if she looked hard enough. Still, the facts themselves couldn't be ignored and she hoped that with his account, things would become clear, regardless of the unwanted truth. Wystellia was then given a clay pot and inside was a bed of rice and atop that, some bits of meat and root vegetables. "Thank you." She smiled to the woman who then left her alone to eat. She sat back down and placed her weapon behind her on the bed, the light from the fire almost making it glow like a holy artifact blessed by the Maker.

Once she finished eating, she felt more strength returning to her bones and she got up, and went back outside. A few burly men were walking through the village, carrying equipment on their backs and shoulders. "Would you like any help?" She asked, wanting to repay them for the meal and safety they selflessly provided for her and her unknown companion. They gruffly declined and said her help was worth more elsewhere. Then one of the men pointed to another small cabin and said to go talk to her friend. Wystellia gave an understanding nod and walked over, staff in hand. Giving a double knock, she stepped back and found herself filled with anxiety.

A survivor. Like herself. Who could it be?

When she was told to come in, she did just that and turned to close the door behind her. When she turned around, she needed a few moments before she put a name to his face. "...Julien..." She internally gave her brain a thankful stroke and stepped forward and gave his own dwindling fireplace a burst so more light could fill the room. With the day ahead of them, she knew the fire wouldn't be needed soon. "I'm so glad I'm not alone." She found herself saying first. Neither of them knew of the lies Loghain was already spreading, as well as troops being sent out to deal with any survivors such as themselves. "Do you need any further healing?" She then asked, a question her lips were very used to presenting to people she met on her travels. Even so, it sounded different...for some reason.

She approached his bedside and crouched by his side, looking at him carefully, her pointed ears twitching slightly under her sleek hair. "I can't erase what either of us saw..." She swallowed. "But something has to be done about what Loghain did to us, did to King Cailan...and Duncan." But they were Grey Warden, not people who got hung up in revenge. "I know it isn't our place but with the Blight upon us, our nation cannot unravel and remain divided." She quickly said to him. "As much as we want to think the betrayal has nothing to with us as Grey Wardens, it does." Wystellia said firmly. "With more Darkspawns being sighted all over the place, we need to unite if we're going to survive it, we can't waste time fighting one another."
As eerie as the house was, Nathan couldn't deny a surge of adrenaline snake through his body as he tried to consider all of the other pokemon and people that had once called the decaying ruins, a home. He thought about the wonders and history they were standing in but he also couldn't forget that Cori needed to get to a Pokemon Center soon, as did their client's son, Jaspor. His own mind had to be tethered to their goal as opposed to the indecipherable past they were stuck in at the moment. The pair worked their way through the first floor, trying to be as efficient but still careful, as possible. Nathan was glad they hadn't split up, aware that if they fell into some kind of trouble, again, they would need one another's help to stay safe, let alone keep their head on their shoulders.

Despite what they advertised, their work was dangerous and risky.

Nathan and Cori had their share of injuries and death scares but it all meant helping othe people, and for that, he was happy to deal with some certain occupational hazards. And even though his friend was pretty uncomfortable and in some pain, he knew she would agree with him too. By the time they had come to the final room on the first floor, Nathan was already thinking of going back out to meet up with his trusted pokemon but when Cori called out, he knew it would be useless since they had finally found the boy named Jaspor. A massive tidal wave of relief washed over the boy and his expression brightened up considerably. "Thank goodness we found you, we've been looking for you." He said. Cori then spoke up and mentioned how it was the boy's mother who had contacted them.

Giving a nod which went unseen by Jaspor, Nathan hurried to where Cori was and peered down the hole. "Oh boy..." He wasn't sure how they were going to get the boy up but COri was quick to think to use her spritzee to heal him up so he'd be safe to teleport back to a suitable Pokemon Center. He thought they could attach Jaspor to golbat with rope or maybe use golem to lift him up. Maybe even Cori's claydol could do something to get them out without falling into the house's many pitfalls or traps. "Come on." He nodded to Cori and looked back to the frightened boy. "We will be right down, we'll just take a slower route than you did." He laughed slightly and nodded back to the door where they had come from.

A new rush was now folowing through the boy's body.

They had found their target!

Now all they had to do was get him safe and collect their payment.

Then there'd be loads of sweets to savor back home.

Licking his lips, Nathan headed for the exit. "I don't recall us seeing stairs going down. I have a feeling the entrance to the cellar or basement -- whatever you want to call it, must be outside." He told the girl as he whistled for his pokemon and within ten seconds, it came rushing back. "Hey buddy, we found Jaspor, thanks for looking though." He said and held up the pokeball and in a quick thread of light, the flying pokemon was back in its pokeball, safe and sound. Nathan jogged around the side of the house and saw a wooden opening with rusted handles. He tried to pull it open but couldn't. "Why don't we use your vaporeon to ice to handle and bust it open? Then we'll get golem to carry the boy out we can teleport to the Aquacorde Town Pokemon Center where his mom is waiting." He smiled.

It sounded like a fair plan to him and like another happy ending to what could have been a long day. Even though Cori hadn't had such a good encounter, it could have been worse and he was glad that for once, things were going the way they ought to be. For a while, they had a string of bad luck and false clients but he was hoping this would put them back on the track like when they first started the SCS. He looked back at the woods around them and began to wonder if they'd be able to expand their team, add more people and maybe even go to other distant regions. Of course Nathan picked a poor chance to daydream but the green haired boy couldn't help it. He wanted to indulge in the ambitious and not ignore such thrilling ideas.
Glad to see you're back. ^^ I hope you can get something up soon, or someone else. But I'm glad you're back either way!
I'll get something up today, if not tomorrow.
It's such a tricky pair of words, like too many e's or r's...silly language. Awww you have a ton of fruit festivals, I'm pretty jelly. Strawberries are bombtastic. Tulips are pretty too, I'm a sucker for California poppies, so soft and simple. I'm sure Michigan is pretty cool, I've been thinking of camping again sometime soon, I bet there's some good places around there. XD

If anything tea is always a good thing to turn to, for now anyway~

Really? It must be your ocal thing but that's cool that they've been around for so long though. I've finally got my net sorted out, I am cat sitting this labor day weekend but I should be pretty free other than that. Cats are distracting thougk...with their cute cat ears and cat tails and fluffy cat heads. XD
A cherry cheery festival sounds bombtastic. Cherries are wonderful, I dream of making a cherry tart one of these days. Haunted houses are also super fun, I hope you go up and check it out (because I can't) but maybe when there's less teens/kids. Now I really want fall to come sooner, it sounds so amazing~

Is there any herbal remedies you could del with since normal medicine can do a number on your body? I'm not sure if they work for me but for others, it could do some good.

I thought there were but considering how hard things are around here and for others, you wouldn't be able to tell. Yeah AT&T did partner recently. A ot of companies are doing mergers lately it seems. I'd love to see more smaller companies though. Wide Open West sounds like a good sort of deal but then again, small companies like being bought up (sometimes) if it means they can turn a profit...adulting is hard. >__<'
Bump.
