@Genni I didn't find that intrusive just a meet and greet and show of powers, it wasn't like he made Nici do a backflip. He didn't make a controlling action just a flashy show off. I would never do it but I didn't see harm in it.
Also im not sure why she would be so angry of me simply being playful with her nature that she put on. I understand her backstory I guess, but such an angry reaction?

Really I was deliberately playing it as an overreaction on Nici's part, but any level of invasive mental control on the other characters should be used cautiously, even something as benign as changing the sound of the music in her head.

Altering her perception of that song would have now changed her memory of it, so every time she tries to remember the song in the future she'll be reminded of the hip-hop remix version instead.
@GenniThey showed off real gameplay, it looks great.

The same thing was done with Colonial Marines, but when it can time for the actual release of the game the quality had been cut back considerably so they could simplify the game engine to deal with the hoards of aliens required for the game.

They then cut back on the 'swarm logic' coding that they'd tried developing to make the aliens coordinate their attacks and act as a single enemy, since they couldn't manage to have the logic work flexibly enough to react to player actions, making the swarm end up losing control and just wandering around aimlessly as people shot them apart. For the released version of the game they stripped the logic out and just went for basic scripted sequences instead, losing the main selling point of the game.

Luckily the work on the adaptive logic design was folded into Isolation instead, giving the Alien in that game a far better, and more menacing feel than a simple scripted nemesis could.
@CAS1006 Yeah, but I learnt my lesson from Aliens: Colonial Marines. These days anyone can make a high-quality, non-interactive video, especially when they have the kind of budget BioWare must be sinking into the project, but to actually deliver that same level of quality to actual gameplay..?

Having said that, Battlefront's use if the actual game engine to produce videos does have me excited for the level of content we're likely to see from them.
@RainbowLemonade

Just wanted to point out how despicable what Fen just diod to Nici truly was. To step inside someone else's head and change their thoughts without even asking permission first? A very big no no.

Plus Nici hates hip-hop.
@RainbowLemonade

Turning on Fen with anger burning in her eyes as the telepath so casually wandered into her mind and twisted her thoughts Nicotine brought her hand up and slapped the psychic hard across the face before letting her arm turn to vapour which quickly smothered his nose and mouth, suffocating him. "Stay. Out. Of. My Head." She growled in low, deep tones, making sure to emphasise each word clearly so the mind raper was clear on her meaning.

Without even looking at the others Nicotine strode straight out of the kitchen, her body fading to mist with each step until all that was left of her was the echo of the music still playing in her mind. She needed time to calm herself after such a profoundly disturbing intrusion and so for a while she drifted through the corridors of the base, letting herself fill the entire facility as she casually allowed her consciousness to wander from room to room, waiting for the call to action.
Can I get a woop woop?

i dunno; how much is the Energy cost, and what Status Effect do I get for it?
Only thing BioWare did was a ME 4 trailer...

"We want to tell stories..." ...but don't want to give them decent endings.
@Lekkuen I'm realizing some people have telepathic abilities, and would like to note something... While it is more of a request as it could be OP I guess... but being chaotic and in disorder, nothing is 'normal' a reading on Impulse would result in nothing. Not as in, she's immune, but... no thought patterns, blank, emptiness. Would that be too much?

I'd say it would be more a case of anyone trying to read her getting a total blitz of random thoughts and images as a sea of swirling chaos inside her head made it impossible to tell exactly what it was she was thinking at any one time.

Nicotine's tactic of recalling music, or an advertising jingle, is actually one taught as an anti-interrogation strategy in the real world, since the person resisting wouldn't accidentally mention something they're thinking of if the only thing they're thinking of is...

From what I know about military tactics (in other words what I read off the back of a cereal packet ten years ago) there are six main stages to a successful invasion:
  • 1: Infiltration - Invaders send spies, saboteurs and provocateurs into the target area to recon and weaken defences
  • 2: Insertion - Forward troop move into the area and establish a beachhead for forward operations
  • 3: Isolation - Invading troops attack the lands and transport routes around the local strong points (towns, cities and castles) to cut them off from external aid
  • 4: Assault - Troops attack the strong point directly, breaking the defence and taking hold of them
  • 5: Consolidation - Invaders secure their position, ensuring no counter-assault can retake the strong point and establishing transport routes for their own supplies and reinforcements
  • 6: Assimilation - Invaders convert local populace to their side, either through re-education or by wiping them out and replacing them

Once the population is on your side, the troops are free to move to the next area and start again. In fact you can start infiltration actions while still awaiting for assimilation to be completed, but you have to be more careful about counter-intelligence operations while working against a potentially hostile native population.

If you simply used Earth magic to burrow straight into the middle of the enemy stronghold you'd find yourself facing a well-armed, well-supplied garrison force who would probably have detected your approach with their own magic-users. If I was them I'd have cleared out the courtyard and started boiling the oil waiting to pour it down on the invaders as soon as they broke soil.
...I'm going to have to avoid it at times because thinking of a mission for each of you would take forever, and it would also be ten times as hard to keep track of what everybody is up to.

The trick there would be to get the characters to put in requests for new missions by mentioning something to the Keeper which may be of interest to him. In other words, get the players to think up the missions themselves and then let the Keeper decide whether to let them try it or not.

As for keeping track of everyone, what you need there would be a spunky, high-spirited co-GM who'd be able to keep up-to-date with the comings and goings around the dungeon and make sure people were on track with their tasks and assignments. They'd have no authority to actually do anything other than record who was where when, but they'd be able to let you know when someone was running late or had failed to check in.

And when I say 'spunky' I do mean hard-working, dedicate and driven, not... y'know, the other thing.

Could also take into account everyone's special abilities. Like, Emily could lead a team into the Castle's courtyard with her Earth magic, bypassing the walls and striking from within, allowing the rest of them to come in and attack the distracted guards.

But would we have needed someone to do a recon mission underground, to make sure the castle wasn't built on solid, undiggable granite first?
