“Very well… let this alliance be formed.” He spoke through one of his familiars, this time a lowly insect that could only truly deliver information from one place to another. Overall, it was in his best interest to form this alliance.

The insect then spat out some fluids, which quickly formed into what seemed to be cursive and elegant text - a contrast to the common dirt that it layed on top of. It was a contract, not exactly of the same potency as a Geis, but enough to give enough hefty punishments for all those that would violate the contract.

“I would prefer if you signed the contract, though it is purely optional in nature, as I do not want you to be forced to do anything too out of your range of comfort.” As uncharacteristic as it may be, he was still a lord, and someone fully capable of negotiation despite his pride.

“Please, take your time. I will not force you to rush.” His voice was surprisingly neutral, now free of that smugness that so permeated earlier.

Meanwhile, somewhere else, with the company of Oleg-Marie, Kayneth's bird familiar spoke: "Now, what shall we do as our first act of our alliance?"

The bird spoke with a neutral tone, leftovers from Kayneth's emotions when handling the others that wanted to form an alliance as well. It was clear that he wanted to do something significant - the more bombastic and noticeable acclaimable to him, the better.
Here's something for the heroes to chew on.

“I will say, that is a rather impressive act coming from you.” The bird spoke, and the Lord of the Clocktower smugly held his chin in his hand. This was impressive to him as far as he was concerned- he never thought of the Animushpheres as a particularly impressive clan of individuals, yet this boy actually displayed some level of conviction.

“Very well, let our alliance to end a fool’s supposed tyranny commence.” The Grail was his to claim, if he played his cards right. He could not let his arrogance cloud his judgment, so that this entire situation could be resolved.

He wondered though, if the boy was willing to do drastic things in order to win the war, and ultimately, destroy his father for whatever reason that he believed in, and so, the Clocktower Lord’s familiar spoke up: “Are you willing to commit any act to get to your goal, Oleg-Marie?”

The Lord stared intently at the projection that was in front of him, of the prospect of his alliance with the boy. If he would answer to his satisfaction, then he would perhaps not betray him in the end.

@GOATPlumber, can you review?

Looks good to me.

You're good to go.

A bird landed on a nearby tree branch, opening its mouth as if it was about to speak, “Regardless of the nature of the Grail, all that matters is that we reach a consensus that allows us to reach it, to either destroy it if it is troublesome, or to exploit it if it is useful.”

Kayneth knew only the fact that the Grail was a wish-granting device based on the old Fuyuki model. Perhaps some form of corruption had taken place, though he had no concrete evidence to back up such a suspicion. Just as he said, all that truly mattered was that someone reached the Grail – which of course would be him – and found its true nature.

If it was something dangerous? Then he would contact the Mage’s Association and have them deal with it. The prestige of winning a Grail war of this magnitude and perhaps even saving the world was something that would be incredibly valuable. Kayneth pictured himself receiving accolade after accolade, being praised for his actions and prowess, and perhaps even his Fiance would be radiant for him.

That last thought was something that he pushed to the back of his mind, despite the fact that he fawned over Sola-Ui, as he had to focus on the battlefield that he was participating in, “Very well, let us form an alliance. It matters not what happens in the end, only that we accomplish things in the present.”

His voice was projected through the bird familiar, informing the people present.

Interesting.. It seemed that the child of another Lord was interested in contacting him for certain affairs. Of course, he would be highly cautious. It was just his type that he was looking out for, yet from what he heard the boy wouldn’t be much of a threat to him. With some consideration, a familiar crow that was nearby flew to the location of the boy, and spoke: “I will entertain your musings, child, but do not waste my time.”

Behind the veil of his familiar, he was smiling. After all, he was about to get something valuable in this miserable war, even though he had only begun his preparations in the war. Truth be told, he was rather arrogant because of his position in his proverbial tower.

“It is quite obvious that this one is looking for an opportunity.” He said to himself, smugly smiling as he considered his options.

He was perfectly willing to help the boy, but it also meant that he had to give something in return. Of course, he would make sure that the trade was fair, as was honorable among mage society, even if he himself and many other mages did not truly follow those rules.

The war was going smoothly - at least he thought it was. Truth be told, this war merely a way for him to prove himself even more. The youngest Brand of the Clocktower, winning such a ritual? It would grant him even more status in the political scenes of the mystic world. Yet, he knew that he had to be cautious. Mages of all kinds could be planning to raid his base any moment now, and who knew what kind of tricks they had up their sleeve? He expected things that would challenge him - magecraft that would be worthy of the war that he was fighting in - not even accounting for the Servants.

Of course, the most logical way of doing things was to hole up in his base: a luxurious manor that he had rented out from a local. He specifically picked this place because of its age and sprawling layout, which acted as a natural deterrent to any who would seek to destroy him and his Servant.

He had decided to leave Sola-Ui back home. It was merely a feeling, a hunch, but he did not wish to endanger his fiance by having her be involved in the Grail War. That much was clear to him, though he would hardly crack the persona of a seasoned Lord to anyone but the closest people in his life.

Many preparations were already complete, such as the many portals to other worlds and various spiritual traps that he set up, along with the many other conjured familiars and minions that he created with his abilities in magecraft. He had prepared them ahead of time, and used his extensive resources to ship them to Kyoto without much trouble, all stored in specific containers that made them seem like mundane - albeit hazardous - materials in the form of compressed barrels.

The workshop was magnificent, and it would perfectly compliment the one mystic code that he brought with him: Volumen Hydragyrum. Now that things had been partially set up, it only made sense for his Servant to go out in the streets and win him some glory.

“Rider, it is time for you to seek out an opponent. Fell them by any means necessary - I wish for there to be plenty of glory for the El-Melloi name.” Truth be told, a part of him wanted to claim much of the prestige himself, but a larger part excused his “outing” to Kyoto with prospects of bringing honor to his family.

“I suppose we shall see what happens now.”

The representative stood in front of the dimly lit church. The Mage Association had sent their own representative to this particular Grail Was. He was nothing of note, nor was his purpose there of much importance- it was only one lord that sent him after all. Nevertheless, he was here to do his duty: to uphold the order of the Grail War.

Upon entering the church, he was greeted by the sight of a young man sitting in one of the pews.

“Ah, so you’ve finally arrived. I tell it could be one of you from those heavy steps of yours.” The young man- presumably the overseer said, with a strange expression of satisfaction on his face, as if he had won some sort of petty game.

“I will not play games here, priest. Let’s not do the formalities: the fighting starts tonight.” When stepping into the warm light of the church, it became clear that he was a large man, with a blonde stubble on his face that made him look more like a bouncer than a dignified mage.

“Yeah, it is.” With those words, the long-haired priest summoned what seemed to be a sigil- something highly unusual for members of the Holy Church, which the priest became immediately aware of from the stare of the bewildered mage.

“Yes, this is something the grail gave me. No, it isn’t something I’m doing behind the Church’s back.” He turned the sigil with his hand, producing a sound like winding clockwork.

“Don’t worry, we won’t get in trouble.” Upon further turning the sigil, a sensation as if the two lone inhabitants of the church were being listened to suddenly manifested. It was subtle, but both of the magically adept individuals could sense it, and the newly-arrived mage could somewhat guess why it appeared.

“Just to let you know, you’re all clear to kill each other now. Remember: no witnesses.” A message was sent out to all the participants of the war. The priest’s face was twisted into a sarcastic grin, much to the confusion of the mage. Upon the sensation of being listened to subsided, the mage spoke up: “What the hell kind of priest are you?” Said priest looked at the mage with a devious smile.

“The magical kind.”
