"Hehe... Imagine these guys reading our files and going through our thought processes," Anna mused, "Though if the Hope's Peak students' situation is occurring parallel to out own situation, wouldn't it be really difficult to run surveillance on two different places on other sides of the world, around 24/7? If that's the case, either we're dealing with a villain with a massive overdosage of coffee and-or drugs, or we're dealing with an organization dedicated to... This bear?"

She set down the file she was paging through and picked up another - a certain SHSL ??? - speaking as she read.

"Of course that's assuming that we're still in Hollywood, and that they're still in Japan.... I wouldn't be surprised if they ended up in a neighboring building, or the Mastermind of this operation messed with our sleep schedules to get us all awake at the same time," she added, "Either way, if this person or organization has the ability to get the police to ignore our plight by using whatever mysterious means, we'd best be on our guard."
"We're checking out those student files the bear told us about," Anna answered Maria as she sifted through the files. A cursory glance over the names on the various files of the 'Kibougamine Gakuen' (helpfully translated into 'Hope's Peak Academy') revealed a few recognizable names. An MMA fighter, an Olympian, a novelist, and a few others.

"Well Isis you'd definitely be right about that," Anna said, holding up her file of choice, "This is Byakuya freaking Togami's file. Richest son of a gun in the world, name ring any bells?" She said his name in a manner full of contempt. From the information she'd managed to gather over the years, the entire family seemed to be a bunch of pompous asses who thought that more money meant more superiority. Not that that viewpoint was necessarily wrong in today's society, but they didn't have to be so arrogant about it. Take a look at herself, for example. She'd also been planning to steal quite a large quantity of their valuables right from their household before all this, but that was an objective to be completed later.

A thought occurred to Anna.

"Wait. If this is the second time this has happened, like Isis suggested, then why didn't we hear about it? I imagine that the deaths of 14 very remarkable individuals - and this 'Makoto Naegi' kid, whoever he is, - would get international attention," she said, putting her gloved hand to her chin, "Nobody's heard of anything like this happening outside of some novels, right? If so, we might be out a lot longer than we've thought."
I play way too many video games. I used to do tabletop when I was 11-12 (I knew a guy who got me into RPing, he held sessions at his house/next door), but I wasn't able to make it to too many of the sessions so I had to drop it. I went to bideo games so I could take it at my own pace.
We should just grab the three quintessential RPG classes (Mage, Warrior, Rogue) and have them develop into specializations depending on playstyle (Warrior -> Paladin, Mage -> Summoner, etc) There'd be no actual restrictions on how a class can play (Mage can grab a bow, Rogue can choose to screw stealth and punch shit up), but the classes would give them special skills and orient them more towards certain archetypes/stats (Mages are more magic oriented, Warriors more combat, Rogues are sneakier, so on)

Of course classes can share specializations (Mage -> Paladin, Warrior -> Paladin), and some specs can evolve into other specs (Mage -> Cleric -> Paladin)

I can actually put together the class trees, since I have a decent idea of what I want it to look like...

EDIT: Or hell, I'll just make the specialist classes, and have Combat, Stealth, Magic, and Hybrid as class categories.

EDIT2: Also, since we're going to be in a magitech world (so it seems), who'd be opposed to having more 'futuristic' classes (Rangers that can use magic/alchemy-based ammo in guns, Rogues who use magitech gadgets, etc. for example)

Thoughts?
Building off the idea of a starting hub proposed by Hollywood, why not just have it revolve around one huge-ass city and it's surrounding areas/cities? I think it'd give a bit more focus, and keeps everyone generally in the same location.

If we're lacking a place to put monsters and such, in addition to the surrounding areas, give the city something like Coruscant from Star Wars. All utopian on the top, but as you get closer to the 'basement' it gets all dangerous and stuff. I dunno, it's a really shitty description of the idea, but I hope it's slightly understandable.

Alternatively, do it like Skyrim/Assassin's Creed 1. A really small number of major cities linked together by an open world environment.

Though aiming for depth rather than size is probably what we should be doing, so we don't have people stuck on opposite sides of the map
Working at a camp.
I'll comment on it tomorrow, but before I leave:

We should probably figure out what the stats actually DO. And also cut down on the amount of stats/cull unnecessary ones. And give a baseline on what's 'average' for all stats so we can adjust the point buy.

...okay good night.
lol you lost me.

It's pretty late and I'm absolute crap at naming RPs and stuff in the first place, so I'm no help. Probably something along the lines of [Word] [Word] Online.

Speaking of which, I'll join in this discussion on what to do with the new rp tomorrow~

Ah, maybe a modern country or state? Where you could have fantasy/futuristic elements?

HELL. YES.

...as you can see, magitech/dungeon punk is my jam.
I imagine a blend of genres would arise from player choices.

But what I was talking about was more on the end of 'what should the setting be like?' Apologies if my phrasing misdirected anyone.

EDIT: @Blue: Yes. ALO had way more freedom of choice than SAO.

Perhaps a choice in character race? I'm definitely down for more choice in combat style.
