Ever just get so lost in your thoughts, you don’t notice the day pass by? And by the time you do, you’ve already lost that whole chunk of your life?

Samuel J. Harvey
Harvey House ~ Interacting with Harvey Household

“Here comes the sun, du du du du, here comes the sun...hmm hmmhmm...hmm hmm...and finished!” Samuel grinned, his teeth glinting in the light of the sun, shining through his window. On the desk before him was one of his newest works. The materials had taken him three and a few months to collect, and yet it was all worth it. The piece before him would trump all his previous works by far. He had thought up a name already, though it would have to become a bit less him before he could publish it.

His schoolwork lay on the desk beside his main one. Neatly finished, all arranged by the subject matter and date due. He had finished all his stuff for this month, leaving him free to pursue his own creative interests, the ones he couldn’t join a club for. His mother didn’t mind, as long as he kept silent. She just needed them to keep a seamless mask on and look good, and he happened to be good at both. He certainly found his mother to be one of his favourite family members, while at the same time, one of the most hated. He had grown up emulating her serpentine ways, though after some time he branched off.

While Samuel didn’t think himself incredibly close with his family, he did care for them in his own child like way. His siblings were decent, his uncle was annoyingly amusing, and his parents were...his parents. No other word for them.

A quick look at the digital watch on his wrist informed him he’d been at it for a good four hours, meaning he should probably get himself dressed for the block party. He tidied up his workspace, making sure to hide his box of materials away where Levi couldn’t find them. His brother was particularly good at getting into other’s buisness. Placing his art inside a protective case, he slid it into one of the numerous desk drawers. A final appraisal of the now mormal room, then he went to pull out some clothes.

A block party would mean clothes that are more casual than my usual wear, yet still presentable. I believe this would work... He pulled out one of his lesser worn articles of clothing, a simple plaid buttoned shirt, with the sleeves rolled up past the elbows. A faded pair of jeans came out after that, as well as some joggers. He had pressed all his clothes earlier, so all he had left to do now was put them on. Finally finished, he brushed his hair neatly into place, and not a minute too soon as it seemed, listening to his mother’s voice coming up from the kitchen. He headed down to join the rest of the family in the kitchen.

“Morning Mother, you look lovely today. I’m sure your fantastic cooking will knock the other dishes right out of the run.” A nod to his dad, and a small smirk in his brother’s direction. “Do you need me to help with anything?”
