Bio

I like how this section says I can share dank memes.

Anyways.

Partner Needs:

Looking for someone - or someones - who fall between the 'Casual' and 'Advanced' categories.
Depending on what I am working with, my posts can vary from a single paragraph to a short novel.
Posting speed really doesn't have to be all that much. I should be able to post at least once a day.
I work full time and start my next semester of college in two weeks.
Someone who is willing to invest into the story and character(s) in which they play.
I don't particularly care for two-dimensional characters or one-sided plot creation.

Roleplay Partner Anomalies:

If, in for some mystical reason, there is horror involved; one cannot have a light stomach or weak mind. I prefer to use proper anatomical descriptions and high levels of imagery for horror and associated gore. If the name of the game is psychological horror, the less I can make someone sleep at night - including myself - the better.

If, in for some sultry reason, there is erotica involved; we should really discuss that in private and outline a lot of do's and don't's (not like I have many of those).

Genres I Play:

Science-Fiction:
Sub-genres: Space Exploration, Tragedy Aboard the Vessel, Crash Landings, SpAAAAAcccEEEEEE MMMMAAdddddNeeeESSSSS
Plot Idea: Set in a dystopian universe, trapped on a derelict ship that is ebbing ever-so-closely towards the event-horizon
of a rogue magnetar that causes the fabric of reality to unravel just enough to let Others slip through the veil and feed
off the insanities of the minds of the crew.
High Fantasy:
Sub-Genres: Alternate Universes, Dystopia, Party of Adventurers
Horror:
Sub-Genres: Postapocalyptia, Zimmersnaps (Plagues/Zombies, I get creative with their nicknames. Sue me.), Psycho-horror
Plot Idea: Reference my Sci-Fi one, I really like it.
Genres I Avoid:
Fandom (with few exceptions), Modern, Historical (Very selective with Alternate Earth History, too).

Character Points:

Unique Character Traits:
My characters will, without fail, always have at least one mental instability - ranging from polar personalities to fragmented
personalities to extreme charactarizations of one specific mental trait.
What I Never Play:
Characters I have already played before. Eww. That's gross. Sloppy seconds.
Cookie-Cutter characters
PERFECTION. Again, eww. Gross.

Character Examples:
All of the characters in this compendium have yet to be used outside of their parent medium.
NOTE: The compendium is a work in progress. As of right now, it only contains Fantasy characters. It lacks horror characters
and Sci-Fi.

We're either of you two still interested?

The same goes for anyone else out there.
Great to hear! The historical synopsis covers, in a broad sense, the entirety of the storyline of the game. Feel free to message me if you have any specific questions about anything.
Oh my god, Freelancer used to be my top video game of all the time ( honestly I never finished it, but played it like dozens of times from the beginning since I never wanted it to end!) Remember how amazing and real it looked like, especially space panoramas with colorful nebulas!
Naturally, this has left me pretty excited, but frankly, I´m little bit afraid about a form you want to lead this adventure. I have a feeling that you want it to be practical, based on Freelancer actual game mechanics with focus on the space combat and actual story will be on the background, right?

Not really, no. I will be using very basic combat mechanics that revolve around the tier of equipment and ships. I want combat to feel a bit more natural, so some semblance of a system is needed. Same with character progression. I feel, that in this kind of a game, you won't see as much progression without achieving newer gear levels. Kinda like levelling up in an mmo or in freelancer in general.

The story will loosely follow what happens after the games story, so it won't be rigid in that regards and I will be steering towards a more story driven game than a combat driven. Combat is to be the flavor of the game, not the focus.
The History of Sirus

Freelancer Alpha-Fourteen-Dash-Ten, this is Shikoku Station. You are cleared to dock.

In the year 800 AS (Arrival in Sirus), in the central cluster of stars in the far off Sirus sector, the infiltration of the Nomad aliens into Human society nearly brought forth all-out war between the four Houses of Sirus: Liberty, Rheinland, Kusari, and Bretonia.

In the year 800 AS, in the central cluster of stars in the far off Sirus sector, the infiltration of the Nomad aliens into Human society was thwarted by then-fugitives Edison Trent and Jun'ko Zane. With the help of xenoachaeologist Roland Quintaine, they were able to locate - and assault - the alien's supposed homeworld in the Omicron Major system. It was here, that the figituves assaulted the alien power supply - a massive Dyson Sphere, built by the Nomad's Masters.

The year is now 825 AS.

The actions of Edison Trent and Jun'ko Zane have been forgotten by the majority of the galaxy as fleeting criminals and subsequent saviours of mankind. Only those who fought against - and with - the two remember the tales for how they were. Sirus has returned to a state of normalcy: minor disputes between the Houses, Liberty Rogues and Bretonian Molly's assaulting trade-lanes within their respective domains, and the ever-watchful eye of the Order on the Nomad Hypergates - waiting for their return.

The Premise

Twenty-five years after the repulsion of the Nomad forces from the Sirus sector, things are starting to heat up once more. Liberty and Rheinland have begun skirmishes between the Hudson and Galileo systems, after Liberty's desire to expand her territory. Tensions between Kusari and Bretonia are warming up, in kind; but for a different reason: mining rights on sources of Niobium in recently discovered regions of space bordering either state.

Corporate espionage, inciting pirate attacks, and the occasional show of force with military might prove that escalation is only a matter of time.

But, where are you in all of this?

You're a Corsair.

The Corsairs

Cardamine, Cardamine. Everyone wants Cardamine.

The only home you have ever known is the planet of Crete, nestled away within the Walker Nebula of the Omicron Gamma system. In fact, it is often the only home that most of the Corsairs know. Crete has damn near everything you could want, provided you have the credits; from Cardamine and synthetic marijuana to contraband alcohol from Kusari space, from handsome men to gorgeous women, from contracted hitmen to professional bounty hunters, Crete has it all.

And that's where you come in. You are all part of a misfit band of lane-hitters - ace pilots who disrupt the trade lanes to hijack the cargo of passing vessels. Rumors of increased mining efforts by the Rheinland in the Omega-7 system has prompted your outfit to move your operations closer to this ample target. Operating out of the Omega-5 system from Cadiz Base, you strike without warning or mercy against IMG and Daumann haulers carrying valuable Copper and Cobalt.

The Requirements

I am going to try to keep this minimal, because otherwise it would be no fun. Ideally, having played Freelancer enough to know some of the story woud be preffered. However, I know that will be a stretch. So, all I ask is for some initiative to learn a little about the Freelancer universe.
I will also be requiring a minimum two-paragraph post length, with the only exceptions to this being 'Coms Chatter.'

The Gamemaster

I start my next batch of college classes soon, and do have a full-time job but I will strive to make - at the least - one GM post a day, highlighting the events as they unfold. In periods of 'down time,' as in non-combat or general travel/station time/planetside time, you'll be free to post as often as you want and interact with whatever you deem fit. During combats of combat where I am needed to moderate and have the world react, I request that persons only make a single post that contains an ACTION, as in targetting and attacking or evading an attack. 'Coms Chatter' can happen as frequently as you would like during these situations.

I will not be playing a character, so to speak, but the entity of the universe and - more personally - the freighter that flies sorties with the group to collect the hijacked cargo.

Player Resources

Throughout the course of this story, the players will acrue credits and other trade goods during their travels and fights. After combat encounters, I will provide a loot list that can be divided up amongst the rest of the party. Or, as an alternate option, it can all be sold off. The ratios for all this is determined by group concensus, the divying up of gold as pirates would so to speak. Keeping resources, such as Cobalt or Niobium, and finding a friendly base to offload it at might net you more credits, but at the risk of being targetted by other pirate factions.

Players will need to keep track of their personal wealth and resources on their character sheets, updated whenever the loot tables come out. I will be keeping my own tracker of your wealth, but if you do not update your information, your wealth is considered lost from that encounter and it must be done before the next combat scenario.

As a band of misfit Corsairs, all players will start with an M3-Legionnaire Light Fighter - the staple vessel for the Corsair Irregulars. Your ships are equipped with the standard package. Please reference THIS page for the standard package. I will be providing a chart with all the 'damage' values of weapons at a later time. You will also have the clothes on your back, a basic pistol, and 500 credits to start your journey. Please make note of these items in your character sheet.

If you have any questions, feel free to message me directly or refer to the Freelancer Wiki.

##NOTE: Accepted players will be invited required to re-paste their characters into the associated Character-specific thread for updating purposes.
##NOTE: This is a Freelancer Fandom Roleplay.

I still play on occasion with the discovery freelancer mod. Love the game too much to lock it away.

This is Fort Bush to DSE patrol, where are you heading?

We're heading for the Colorado System.
@Hearthridge welcome to hell son. Please take a number sit down and await the hate, pain, and despair.

Well, as a resident of the seventh circle, my condo is nice this time of year.

Welcome to Liberty space.

I'm not going to lie, I got super excited that you got that reference.
Thanks for the welcome.

Seeing as I am clearly using this post to draw attention to myself, check out my bio to see what I look for in a partner (I'm not too needy) and if you'd be interested in making some magic happen.
Well, I suppose the above is my fancy way of saying 'Hello, I just joined your forum!' The name is Hearthridge, not like that's obvious or anything. I am a migrant from an RP forum that, I feel, has died off in terms of its activity (either that or people just secretly don't like me).

So, here I am.

Referencing the 'Welcome to the Guild' thread, I will highlight upon the suggested topics since I really am terrible at making these kinds of introductory posts.

In regards to my career with role-playing, I would have to say that I've been born and raised in it. My family has been one filled with gamers of all spectrums - from watching my father play Ultima Online and the first iterations of WoW, to sitting in the shadows and lurking in on my family's weekly D&D sessions. During those times, I'd often browse various Monster Manuals or skim through our Battletech Mecha book. I joined in the family games at the age of ten, starting in a short-lived game set in the Forgotten Realms - the Oriental Adventures, specifically. From there, I moved on to bigger and better things: creating (and failing at) my own game systems, participating in my first fully completed module (Ravenloft love), and running my own shows. That was thirteen years ago. Now, I sit here behind my monitor and ache for the capacity to RP in any medium - longing for pen and paper the most.
Rulesets used: Gamma World, Fallout Hell-A (World of Darkness custom), World of Darkness, Mage, Vampire: the Masquerade, Scion,
Shadowrun, Mutants and Masterminds, Dungeons and Dragons (3.5, 5.0, Forgotten Realms), Pathfinder (D&D preference), Star Wars
Saga Edition, Traveler (Holy tits so good), Elder Scrolls (World of Darkness custom [my own, functional system]), Call of Cthulhu,
Pokemon (World of Darkness custom [my own, since scrapped due to balance issues]).

Client-based: Elder Scrolls Online, Black Desert Online.

What, exactly, is a preference when one has such a diversified portfolio? I guess, if I were to forcefully narrow my genres of interest; I would have to settle on the realm of Science Fiction. I love my fantasy genres, I really do; but, space is infinite. Space is beautiful. Space is deadly. Sure, fantasy can have magic and elves and other cool neatos - but, in my heart of hearts, absolutely nothing will overpower my love for the Sci-Fi genre. You've got some amazingly beautiful space ships - or ghastly ones, depending on the technological prowess of the race, LITERALLY NO LIMIT TO RACIAL CREATION, the capacity to upend Newtonian Physics, Mecha (drools), and oh-so-many other things I could rave about. Better yet, throw some psycho-babble-horror into it too and then I can live my life happily in some dystopian universe, trapped on a derelict ship that is ebbing ever-so-closely towards the event-horizon of a rogue magnetar that causes the fabric of reality to unravel just enough to let Others slip through the veil and feed off the insanities of the mind.

I have a new story idea to run with.

Hobbies? Well, outside of being the King of Papa John's, I do like to play me some vidya. Vidya and read books. It should come as no shocker that my favorite genre for literature is Sci-Fi - and coincidentally, my vidya games too. Stellaris, Sins of a Solar Empire, Galactic Civilizations, Masters of Orion, Empyrion, Destiny, etc. I grew up on playing Halo and Colony Wars (which, imo, is one of the best PS1 games out there; and Halo is easily the best franchise I'd ever played [sorry, Elder Scrolls]); and have since collected 95% of the Halo Franchise literature. I am missing only a couple of the actual books, and then the majority of the graphic novels. But, to date, the best sci-fi literature I've had the pleasure of letting my eyes pour over is the Linesman series by S.K. Dunstall. Purchased by chance during Hastings' close-out sales, I'd devoured the first two books in a matter of days, and was dismayed to find that there was a third. However, the Divines smiled upon me and I only had to wait a month before the third and final book was released. Oh. So. Delicious.

Anyways. I guess all that ranting just about sums up me. If you really want to know anything more or else about me, drop me a line.
