And back I am. Exhausted, certainly, and may need a while for that to wear off, but I'm once more here to read and even write!

Should have been writing posts. Took part in D&D shenaniganry instead. Got to fix that tomorrow.

There's a lot of backlog here on my end. I'm trying my best to lessen it, but replies might be less frequent for a time. A welcome change from the nothing doing I went through though! Thanks partners!

Bio

I suppose it is about time for me to copypaste fill in some information about myself over here just as well. Only took me a few years to getting around to do it.

I am a married individual in my twenties from the country some people dare claim does not exist. The Finland conspiracy is an old joke, you can stop with it now. Not a native speaker of the English language by any means, though I did begin studying it exceptionally early for our country's standards. I suppose it was some sort of a test case. With that out of the way though, what more should I be saying here...
  • I like being nice to people. If one needs to ask why, well that alone is reason enough.
  • I play and Dungeon Master Dungeons and Dragons, both offline and in the past also over here.
  • I enjoy OOC chatter, be it planning the RP or a more casual exchange (not that RP'ing is that serious). I can make do without, but don't be afraid to talk to me.
  • Whatever the case, I'm here to have fun and hone my writing abilities!
I do think that should about cover it, yes.

Thanks for stopping by I suppose! I do also have a Discord account, but I prefer to start anything RP related on the site. At least with people I don't know from the past, that is! But hey, now if you are a longer time contact of mine and happened to read this, now you know and can ask!

No need to make edits here, I've already taken a look at the actions and it's looking like everyone gets to do what they wanted, assuming nothing too unexpected comes from Harbinger.
@The Harbinger of Ferocity Your choice was probably the safest course of action, and I would generally advice against calling shots pre-combat unless you are intending to start the combat with said action, purely due to unpredictability of the enemy. Good to hear we can proceed soon!
Right, back here again!

The current initiative order among the party is as follows:

  • Ashkar
  • Parum
  • Trear
  • Orchid

As everyone but @The Harbinger of Ferocity has already "readied" their actions, we'll get through the first round of combat quite fast once they have published their turn!

Not to forget their cousin, caught from the most recent sidebar.
@Lucius Cypher Yes. I seem to have neglected a detail, so you would be correct.
@Lucius Cypher Let me break that down to individual things and evaluate their intensiveness for educational purposes.

  • Moving the twenty feet onto range, assuming you are 30 ft. away of the kobolds (which you are) costs the 20ft. out of your 30 ft. pool.
  • Throwing a harpoon is an action of the attack type. You know the drill.
  • Drawing the harpoon for an attack is a special case, something what you are granted one per turn unless you take a feat that allows more of it. The feat I speak of is "Dual Wielder", PHB p.165.
  • Drawing the machete falls under the ruling above, rendering doing both impossible.
  • Equipping your shield costs 1 action, as does putting it away (PHB p. 146).

Now, a quick refresher on a turn in combat of 5th edition: What you can and cannot do!

Each round, you have your movement, action, bonus action and your reaction. You generally use most of those on your own turn with the reaction being, well, your reaction to someone else. If you can do something as a bonus action (other than attacking with an off-hand weapon) it is likely a spell or a class feature, so you'll know if you can do it. Your movement is, well, your movement. Limited only by the maximum amount per turn, you can for example step 10 feet, attack, step 10 feet, shout, and move the remaining 10.

Now, actions are probably the most varied of the bunch. You can do many things, all neatly described in PHB p. 192 and onwards, alternatively available in the Basic Rules linked on the Characters tab. No "move actions" in 5th edition, nor "5-foot step".
It should come as no surprise for you that Trear's aggression turns this situation into a fight. If any of you have a way you would like your character to react before the situation escalates to such level, feel free to post about it! Please limit it to the moment the fight will begin though and roll your initiative to go with it. If you'd rather add your next post into the combat itself instead, do say so in the OOC and include the rolled initiative.

I'll have a potentially rather busy weekend, but I should be able to squeeze a post here and there. The Saturday will likely be 100% no posting from me... I'm getting married, you see.
On another note, since we've agreed on a 4 day period of time, I will generally avoid moving things forward like this. At this point, since the next event had to be this due to how I set things up (and I made the hurried decision to move) it had to happen. Next time something like this is up, I'll probably ask people to wait, to give the promised amount of time for all the players.

Seemingly drawn in by the shouting of the party, a group of people rushed across the street, only to have one of them trip and fall on their face. The biggest one of the group instantaneously turned around to help them, lifting them up despite his obviously bleeding injuries. Now that the party could have a clear look at this group, it became evident that this was a family on the run. A father and three children.

Not long after followed a woman that had armed themselves with a shield and a somewhat broken spear. While injured, she was in an unmistakably better condition than her supposed husband and judging by her unwillingness to drop her guard towards the direction she had approached from, was not the last one to arrive on the street. And indeed, soon enough a pack of eight Kobolds came to view, slowly approaching the humans, snarling and making threatening moves every time any of the humans tried to move.
Then I believe I shall put up my post to respond to the activity that has been going on thus far. Would have preferred to see the actions of Trear first, but I can work with this.
