And back I am. Exhausted, certainly, and may need a while for that to wear off, but I'm once more here to read and even write!

There's a lot of backlog here on my end. I'm trying my best to lessen it, but replies might be less frequent for a time. A welcome change from the nothing doing I went through though! Thanks partners!

Bio

I suppose it is about time for me to copypaste fill in some information about myself over here just as well. Only took me a few years to getting around to do it.

I am a married individual in my twenties from the country some people dare claim does not exist. The Finland conspiracy is an old joke, you can stop with it now. Not a native speaker of the English language by any means, though I did begin studying it exceptionally early for our country's standards. I suppose it was some sort of a test case. With that out of the way though, what more should I be saying here...
  • I like being nice to people. If one needs to ask why, well that alone is reason enough.
  • I play and Dungeon Master Dungeons and Dragons, both offline and in the past also over here.
  • I enjoy OOC chatter, be it planning the RP or a more casual exchange (not that RP'ing is that serious). I can make do without, but don't be afraid to talk to me.
  • Whatever the case, I'm here to have fun and hone my writing abilities!
I do think that should about cover it, yes.

Thanks for stopping by I suppose! I do also have a Discord account, but I prefer to start anything RP related on the site. At least with people I don't know from the past, that is! But hey, now if you are a longer time contact of mine and happened to read this, now you know and can ask!

As unfortunately high as these kobolds happen to have rolled, we have the first encounter of zero HP mechanics, so I'd like to give a quick refresher course in case any of you happen to need it.

Once a character's HP is zero or less, first we check if the amount of negative HP is higher than their maximum HP. If it is, instant death via massive damage occurs. If not, the character is left at 0, unconscious and unstable. If no outside effects are to affect them, they will simply roll a death saving throw on each of their turns, succeeding on a 10 or more. On a success, they add one death save success, on a failure (unsurprisingly) one failure. On a roll of a 1, two failures are added. On a twenty, the character is stabilised and gains 1 HP and conciousness immediately. If three failures are reached, the character dies. If three successes are met first, they are now stable, requiring no further death saves.

Effects from the outside that can affect them are damage, healing and stabilisation attempts. Upon taking damage, the character gains a death save failure (two on a critical). Healing lifts them up from 0 HP and they regain consciousness, immediately becoming stable. Stabilisation is a process that uses a helping character's action and has them roll a DC 10 Wisdom(Medicine) check. On a success, the target is stabilised.

A stable creature ceases to be stable if it takes any damage, and needs to roll the death saves until restabilised. If a stable creature is not healed, it regains 1 HP after 1d4 hours.
In Orchid's wake, disregarded by its assailant, a kobold was struggling for dear life. Despite it's best attempts, slowly it's vision began to blur and the cold seeped into all of it's body, seemingly escaping out of its side. It tried to stay awake, but eventually drifted unconscious.

One of the luckier ones of the little lizards weighed the massive human and his blade with his eyes. Their earlier strike had had little effect... perhaps it would be for the best to try striking at a weaker target first? That blade of the warrior was carrying wasn't something he'd really like to fight with. The kobold broke into a run, heading for the commoner the gang had been after earlier. That was a mistake that Ashkar did not leave unpunished. The blade the kobold had wanted to avoid collided with its back, sending the creature swiftly into the ground. They didn't seem to move after that.

The two remaining kobolds continued the fight, even with the half-orc now in their face, yelling about eating them. The one in front of him dropped their sling and scooped up the dagger they had dropped onto the ground earlier. Screaming, it held the dagger in both hands as it swung the little blade overhead, bringing it down onto the opponents abdomen. Such a clearly telegraphed strike was all too easy to avoid for the warrior, but that left them open for another rock in the face, this one delivered by the previously less accurate kobold.

And as surprising as that was, that rock sent Orchid counting stars and made the half-orc fall down. The two remaining kobolds barely believed their eyes, but the one who made the shot celebrated by pumping their fist in the air. Seeing this, the armed commoner and her family backed off a bit more, the woman still seemingly ready to strike at approaching threats.

The arrow did indeed fly past the intended target, flying past the recently agitated kobold whose lizardly mouth crept into something that could only be seen as a grin of sorts. It kept on preparing the sling for another strike, intent on hitting this time.

The surroundings had not changed much, some of the fires seemed to be getting more ground while some began dying down. She could not see anything out of ordinary around them.

The mockery laced with magic stung at the creatures mind. While the words would have been irrelevant to the creature, being used to such language from their superiors, there was this little something the bard's magic did to cause the words to bring anger out. "Wux...", they barked out in response and began readying their sling for another attack with shaky hands.

A good idea. I'll have it inserted into the Characters tab.

EDIT: There it is. I'll try to remember to update it often.
The heavy blow strikes the intended target along their spine, causing a sickening crunch to be released into the air before the blade began cutting it's way through the scaly hide of the creature. This time the cleave went all the way through, leaving two halves of a kobold onto the dirt road next to Ashkar. The other creature flipped their dagger around in their hand and responded to the ferocious smile with a hiss, before turning it's eyes towards the common folk...

The current initiative order among the party is as follows:

  • Ashkar
  • Parum
  • Trear
  • Orchid

And now that we know where the rest come in, it ends with

  • Kobolds
  • Armed woman
Whew, linking all those rolls neatly sure took some copy-pasting. Anyway, as the round now rolls over it would be @The Harbinger of Ferocity's turn again.
The woman only had the time to glance fearfully at the approaching charge from her left, before Ashkar was already slicing away at the nearest Kobold. As the target of the fearsome assault nearly managed to dodge out of the way her expression began to shift from utter terror to worry, but the great blade did find it's place in the little creature's torso, causing the scaly creature to fall limp. The blade did not quite cleave the poor thing in two, but it was evident that it would not be rising up any more.

Soon after, it was Parum's turn to keep on the offensive as she employed different tactics from the brute force that had been shown by the previous combatant. The spell she cast did not go quite as how they had planned however, as the cantrip struggled to build what was requested from it, forming a mere five foot tall midget of a demon with equally small blades. To top it off, it was seemingly built of dyed parchment. Her words of draconic did manage to draw the attention of the group of kobolds, most of which now showed reluctance in fighting... but this was mostly contained by one of the adversaries at the back shouting a reply: "Ekess slathalin usv ehaism khru marfedelom, yth shilta ti chian darastrix usjalil!" This seemed to rouse their fighting spirits somewhat, but a few still dropped their daggers in favour of slings.

Trear had a reply of her own to this exchange of words she could not understand, that being an arrow in the face of one of the more cowardly kobolds that happened to stand in the relative front towards the group. Piercing the creature's head neatly just behind it's eyes, the arrow remained sticking out from both sides of the poor creatures cranium. Needless to say the lizard could not take it as it hunched over, threw up, and fell the rest of the way down. It didn't move afterwards.

And of course, Orchid was not one to be left out of a fight, rushing towards the enemy much like Ashkar had done a second or two before him. They had not planned on going as far as his companion though, and stopped 10 feet short to throw their makeshift harpoon at the opposition. The throw was also one to find its mark, nailing one of the unfortunate members of the front row into the ground. As the kobold stared at the stick pointing out of their stomach in disbelief, just before falling limp, it could hear the call of the horrific green thing that had slain it: "Fight me and die!"

That encouragement happened to be all the rest of the kobolds needed to get their act together and retaliate. The remaining five of the attacking group turned the fight towards the approaching one and a few signs were exchanged before the pack started it's retaliating assault. A pair made their way to Ashkar, the first one slicing at his leg and the second using the distraction to jab their dagger at his guts. Bot of them landed their strikes, releasing waves of pain into the warrior. Simultaneously the third and final kobold to wield a dagger jumped at Orchid's face, screaming incoherently. The blade sank into the half-orcs flesh near his shoulder and while it didn't seem to hit anything too drastic, the hit stung, especially when coupled with a rock into the face that flew from somewhere when the first kobold was leaping! The final kobold seemingly released a rock from it's sling as well, but the shot went wide and flew right next to the illusion of a "demon" Parum had summoned.

The commoner could not hide her gratefulness, but used this time to take a few steps back and ready her spear in case any of the kobolds would soon make a move at her family.

I've got a problem with Harbinger's entry, that being the second attack made. If that could be edited out, that'd be nice. I'll have to go to sleep now, but I'll be likely advance this tomorrow to keep the game flowing.
