Personality and Traits:
Rowan, like most spies, hides a cold and calculating demeanor behind a warm smile and a surprising charisma. His exact personality traits differ with each encounter however, as he changes his nature to achieve a desired result from those around him.

History:
Coruscant-born to a family who's history was entrenched in the service of the Galactic Empire, and the Republic before it, Rowan spent his younger years listening to the tales of his older siblings as they rotated home from their service. Thus, it came as no real surprise when he came of age and announced that he too, would be leaving for the Imperial Academy at Corulag, to join the ranks of the Imperial Stormtroopers. Already he was beginning to dream of the day when he too would wear the white armor and march alongside his brothers and sisters to crush the enemies of the Empire. His time at the Academy would show him that he was meant for a different destiny however.

Although determined to join the ranks of the Imperial Stormtroopers, the results of the aptitude tests administered at the Academy convinced his instructors that he would do better in a different field altogether. Rowan was initially confused as new orders began to pour down from the administrators, placing him in classes focusing less on operations and battle strategy, and more on electronics and communications yet continued his combat lessons alongside the other cadets. It was during this time that he had begun to hear the murmurs of a rebellion building in the galaxy at large, but he dismissed them as nothing more than the grumblings of those too lazy to do the things the Empire asked of them to survive. He continued devoting himself to his education, determined to succeed in whatever the masters of the Academy had planned for him. His answers came in a small, encrypted data file sent to him a few weeks before his graduation: he was to report to the Military Intelligence division of the Imperial army.

As an Imperial agent, Rowan displayed a surprising ability to blend into his surroundings, even on worlds in which humans were uncommon. He performed his work with pride, gathering information about what his commanders told him were isolated terrorist cells bent on the destruction of the Empire he had been raised to serve. Each time, he gathered details on their locations and the names of their members, but was surprised to discover many of his targets were simple dissidents, only guilty of grumbling a bit too loudly. Each time, after submitting his report, he was immediately reassigned to some other planet with another target but he just shrugged his shoulders and obeyed his orders. It wasn't until the destruction of Alderaan that he began to question if he was working for the right side.

In spite of Imperial attempts to the contrary, Rowan was able to discover through his own network of contacts that Alderaan had been destroyed by some powerful Imperial weapon. The idea that anyone could destroy an entire planet, even if it was to crush a rebellion, disturbed him enough that he began to ask questions of his superiors. When they wouldn't answer, Rowan used his contacts to find out the information for him, even going so far as to discover what became of the “terrorist cells” he had been spying on. When he learned that many of his reports had led to blatantly unnecessary executions and attacks, he saw the Empire in a different light.

During the short period of confusion after the destruction of the first Death Star, Rowan defected to the Rebel Alliance. Since then, he has turned his skills against the Empire that he felt had used him to murder its own citizens.
I'm around. Trying hard to scrape together the hour or so I need to finish up my char sheet.
Ahhh...
Hmmm... so what do you have in mind for these guys were meeting up with?
It was Khaylan's turn to shift uncomfortably in the saddle now. He started to launch into the lie he had been telling for so many years now, that he had always been a minor noble, and was from a neighboring state and had come to court for the better prospects. "Danmoor," he said, "the arse end of the country's western territory. The court believes I'm from a valley to the northwest though, another minor noble looking to grab a bigger slice of the pie."

He chuckled suddenly, "I guess I'm a bit of mystery to them. No one can verify my story, meaning either I'm a very good liar, or I have deeper connections that the King's advisors. It never occurred to them to believe the former over the latter as long as I kept the lower class in check."

He sighed heavily, "you know, I always wanted to be a knight, and now that I am... I spend half my time kissing up to people I hate and hating those I actually..."

He stopped himself, shaking his head. "I should apologize again, playing mind doctor to me is probably pretty low on the list of things you want to do."
Khaylan chuckled a bit, looking over his shoulder and half smiling at her. "Its about as believable as anyone else's story," he said, "as it so happens, I do have a somewhat estranged cousin from overseas. His name is Eric, and he's a merchant... of sorts."

He hesitated for a moment, trying to find the correct words to explain it. "He deals in... well, unique herbs and spices. He claims half the court meets with him at one point or another but he's probably just blowing smoke around. He tried to set me up with some foreign girl months ago but I convinced him I was persuing interests elsewhere."

"A bandit attack would also explain why my armor is damaged," Khaylan continued, "all in all, we could do worse for a story."

They passed by the river bend, the horse's hooves clicking loudly against the increasingly solid ground as the roads became better the closer they got to the capital. The river was low at this time of year, deep enough for swimming but shallow enough to allow a horse and rider to pass through. As he looked over the water, tiny fish began to leap, swimming against the mild current. The silence stretched on again, and despite how strange the situation felt to him, he decided that riding in silence was even more uncomfortable.

"So... where are you from?," Khaylan said, looking back over his shoulder.
Interested. Order of preference would be the small scale conflict, then scum and villainy, then large scale, then sandbox. Would be willing to compete for the Dark Jedi role. A few questions worth mentioning though:

Would it be better to have everyone on the same side? My experiences with player versus player role playing have been either very good, or very bad. Generally the bad types are more common as auto-mortal-hits get called or some impossible dodge gets written, etc. Particularly considering jedi/dark jedi where their weapons are laser swords and their powers range from minor healing to instant death.

Would you be open to players using a canon character appropriate to the time period? or OCs only?

*ambles off to research the timeline of star wars*
Khaylan grunted under his breath, focusing on the road ahead as the miles disappeared beneath the horses hooves. "Close enough I suppose," he said, removing one hand from the reins to point at a river that wound its way into sight in the distance ahead of them, "once we pass the closest curve of the river, it should be about two hours till we reach the city walls, after that another hour or so, depending on the foot traffic."

He almost asked if she was comfortable back there, but casual conversation was still coming slowly to him when talking to her. He was constantly surprised when the bumps of the road caused her to lurch forward against him, reminding him of how close they were required to be. He tried to district himself from that thought.

"Let's hear your story then," he said, his eyes on the road ahead.
Ugh, rough two days at work. I'll try to get a post up tonight but it might have to wait till tomorrow
